Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

were you guys watching a different game.... not even in their top 15 in tonight's game

I am sure he is better but not tonight

Would you call him in the top 3 or 4  Crows players because that is what we are going to pay this guy... $800k per year ??

I think we are paying him slight overs at his current market rate to get him to the club in the hope he pays 8-10 years with us.

We very may well have a Premiership/All Australian CHB at 21 years of age who's best footy is ahead of him.. We are defintely paying overs but that's what you have to do to get a player out of a side unless your right on the cusp of a premiership like the Hawks were when they recruited well. He's disposal is better than I thought, he's pretty good by foot (shudders...bar that howler that cost us against West Coast)

This is exactly the reason I don't think we should pay overs, he isn't a CHB at all. He's a floater and intercept player who plays loose in defence. He will never be a key position player so we, as a club, need to be careful/mindful what we pay him and give up for him. On last nights game, he isn't worth two first rounders nor one of our kids. He's worth pick 10 and that's it. He also doesn't have great skills either. What he does bring is consistency, leadership and reliability, but that isn't worth two first round picks IMO.

Never hurt Gibson, a very valuable player at Hawthorn. A couple of B&F's in premiership years.

Look he's still a developing kid but with some runs on the board. I don't think we will pay overs for him and his best is yet to come.

I wouldn't define him on his career to date apart from saying noting his talent, and I definitely wouldn't define him on last nights game where he wasn't a standout but played his role.

He had some really good moments and a few average ones that you would expect from a player of his age and experience.

Exactly and thats why we shouldn't pay overs.

As for Gibson, more often than not he played on all the key forwards and was predominately a KPP.

Also, I have watched Lever every game this year, my wife is a Crows supporter and rate him highly, but he isn't worth 2 first rounders.

Interesting thing would be to go through their side and see where Lever is rated. I doubt he would be rated in their top 10.

As an example start with the Crouch's, Sloane, Tex, Sauce, Eddie, Laird, Cameron, Talia, Smith,McGovern and there is 11 already.

PS. No wonder they are in the GF.

Well their both All Australian and they both play exactly the same interceptor role...

And I still would NOT pay two first rounders for them, I would for Rance though.

Two first rounders are for Rance, Josh Kelly, Dangerfield or Jeremy Cameron, not Jake Lever.

Just because Adelaide want 2 first rounders doesn't mean he is worth it, I don't think many agree he is worth that. Our first & 2nd is more likely. Anyway people lose sight of draft picks, we of all supporters should know a top draft pick isn't guaranteed, the club will pay what he's worth in terms of a trade. Money wise I couldn't give a f%%k what we pay him.. But We'll agree to disagree... I'm confident he'll be a 2 time All Australian this time next year

How did the Cats tall forwards go tonight. 8 marks and 5 massive spoils to go with the best disposal efficiency on the ground in a pressure match. Not his best but I would suggest he would feature higher in the coaches votes than 16th or lower. Is a super player who is already statistically the best intercept mark in the comp which is fast becoming a crucial role in today's game.

Lol, now you guys are comparing him to McGovern!

Did Gibson go for 2 first rounders? And would McGovern? No and No.

This goes to my thoughts hes worth #10 and change , as it were, some exchange of picks or whatever.

This round 1 and 2  picks seems to have entered the narrative ( probably past Bordertown ) and is seldom challenged.

Some suggest just pay it and move to next , I see that as frivolous.

Fair few there you're over rating. i think it's assured he will finish top 10 in their B&F and probably top 5. Will be interesting to see. Also we are talking about a kid  5 years away from his best footy with 10 years probably left. Not exactly apples with apples.

That's not necessarily relevant to his currency on the open market. The players' age and the role they play becomes a factor. As an example, the Weid wouldn't rate in our top 25, but that doesn't mean he's only worth a third round pick on the open market.

The Crouch brothers would have only broken into the Crows top 10 this year, and they've been in the system for a while. And as much as I love Rory Laird, the role he plays would never command a high 1st rd pick.

Lever was ultra reliable last night. Was beaten one on one once. In the first minute of the game. His disposal efficiency was elite.

The new pay deal changes the actual worth of those big deals in a way as well

800k a year is what 650k a year is worth under the previous agreement and lever is worth every cent

The money for Lever i suspect is representative of his place in our list ( at todays currency ) more than where he fits into Adelaide's ledger.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
