Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hypothetical,if we get Lever what happens to O.Mac ? Some suggest that we trade him, surely  T.Mac would probably want to leave. O.Mac might end up playing forward or a role similiar to his bro who knows. Lever would be good but playing overs may upset the "apple cart". To my knowledge one of the Scott brother was  better than the other yet Brissy could have traded one of them.

mmmm......yeah, i was kinda thinking that... kinda....

Nothing in the short term, him or frost would be dropped against some teams, if tmac goes back again then both could be out at stages. Long term you would keep one as back up and trade the other, At this stage I rate them both fairly equally but I think omac has more upside so u keep him

Tomald going forward is a revelation. Untouchable now. He competes better than most forwards his size and will only get better.

The nick-name 'Tomald' is revelation enough. It can even be used as a verb. Like when you Tomal the ball directly to the single opposition player standing in the middle of four of your own teammates.

We're not gonna keep OMac just to keep his brother happy. If he's good enough he'll stay, if not he'll get traded or delisted. Simple. Jimmy Stynes didn't leave when Brian got dumped, Todd Viney didn't leave when Jay got the flick. Playing together would be nice but they're their own men with their own careers.

Can't believe I had to actually say that.

Silly option. We need quality at both ends, robbing one to strengthen the other defeats the purpose. Without Hogan we would then lack quality key forwards who can clunk marks and kick bags of goals. He's the only one currently on our list that who has proven quality do do this.

To get Lever, we will need to trade a good pick/s and maybe a player. It would be worth it as Lever is also proven quality. With Lever at one end and Hogan at the other, we are set at both ends for the next decade and can build around them.

The question should probably be reframed "What happens to Garland, if we get Lever" as Omac can now take over Garlands role next year.

Hogan 4 Lever possibly a win/win for both clubs. Dees don't rely on Hogan to win games these days. There will be other players that will fill his shoes and we do not have to wait one day for Hogan to return home as it will be somebody elses problem. The Dees are trying to play Wagner as a mid and other players will play different roles in the future.

I thought defence was only true in fairy tales meant for some other club but not for us. KPF's were out to get us. That's the way it seemed. Disappointment haunted all my dreams. Then I saw his highlights, and now i want Lever. Not a trace of doubt in my mind. I'm in love, now I want Lever! I couldn't leave him if I tried.

That notion has no motion in the ocean of sanity.

I will say -- it'll be interesting to see if we return to consistent form with Hogan back out of the side.

He's obviously best 22 but it's hard to deny that, during our strongest patch of the year (Gold Coast to West Coast), neither Gawn or Hogan were in the team.

Jason Dunstall called him Tomald McDonell in round 1 v the Saints. So that's what me and my mates will stick with for life. The damage is done.

Yeah, Tom McNamara, Weetra and Clint Bartram nearly landed us Judd, so no reason why this won't work.

That is how it should be and usually is. Tom, the person, is a little different to most. He was almost obsessive in trying to get to play with Oscar and signed his contract extension on the same day and duration as Oscar when the club offered him a longer deal. I am not saying that's why we would keep Oscar over Frost, although if we had to I probably would. But I do believe trading Oscar would influence Tom's next contract decision.

Dr Gonzo, comparing Brian to Jimmy and Jay to Todd Viney is so far off the mark as one bro was so much inferior to the other.Oscar offers or will offer value as does his brother. Picket fence suggested his offerings,Gus and/or Harmes plus draft picks for Lever would be going backwards. We need quality mids. Loyalty has gone out the door, surprise supporters don't jump ship during bad times  !!!!!!!!

Ok I was avoiding this topic because I thought it really didn't have any legs but the drums are beating so I'll bite.

Levers use at Adelaide is as a second/third tall and clearly very effectively. But prior to being drafted (and prior to the leg injury before that) there was a great talk of his skills and tank being more akin to a mid. You know how most top clubs have a sizeable beast in the guts? It would be nice to have one of our own. I see lever as undersized to take on a power forward, but an excellent chop out player and ideally I'd love him to be a float back seventh defender, taking on Lewis's role of this year when Lewis fades off into his twilight.

Players like Bont and Fyfe who are damaging when pushing forward would be his focus when playing sides with that calibre weapon, but other wise he could join hibberd in turning anything less than perfect i50s into pointed attacks.

Havent seen Lever forward of centre to judge how much more damage he can do, but that's my two cents on it.

Ps. all this is based around tmac staying forward, with omac and frost defensive pillars. If the club sees tmac going back again I think we'd be too tall(or at least talent heavy with AFL quality talls from a list perspective) in the back half and wouldn't push for lever at all.

Also fair price in my book is lever plus third/fourth rounder for first rounder and nibbler. If that's something that appeals to the crows, I see it as equal. I like nibbler, but just picks won't cut it. Definitely don't want to buy out of next years draft for any player going round, that apparently where the stars are coming from. Luke Molan mark II type stars, I hear.

Not sure why there are so many in this thread suggesting we trade ANB, I'd say he would be one of the first picked every week.  The coach seems to have a really high regard for him and seems to think he does his job effectively most weeks, but here on Land, he's the first one to go.

I'd be happy to get Lever but we have to balance it up with what we are prepared to pay and let's not rob Peter to pay Paul.

What did Geelong give up to the crows to get Dangerfield?

Their dignity, as well as any success in the period of time starting from 2018 onwards.

I shouldn't say that, he fell in to their laps, but the rest of their trading strategy in recent years will cripple them for a long time.  Excellent.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
