Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Never known a Melbourne 'supporter' to have so much hate on their own players as SWYL

Over the last 10 years and longer too many supporters and Members have been soft and far to accommadating on this club and the players

Perhaps he could also school him on taking a man on in his back half, getting done for dropping the ball 40 meters out and then compounding his error (after his man missed the goal) giving away a silly 50 and giving up a gimme goal.

How much did they lose by? Oh that's right 3 points.

Just imagine the response from some  if the whipping boy had made those errors and cost us a game?

You're a funny poster.

I'm not sure how many times you need reminding of how the term 'whipping boy' comes about. But I'll remind you, again.

Players who generally make many errors are the ones who get stuck with the name. So the reason why Oscar, Frost, Tyson and Watts are highlighted so regularly on demonland is because of the frequency and type of errors they make vs the positive pieces of play they're involved in.

Yeh, all players make errors/mistakes, I don't need reminding. You've pointed out Lever's on Friday night. But the reason he is not a 'whipping boy' is because of the sheer volume of positive play he creates or is involved in.

A small example of one attribute being the way he kills a contest with his spoiling. Not just getting a hand on the ball which allows a spill. Genuinely killing a ball so that there's a reset in play. Lever displays this skill at a level that is completely incomparable to Oscar's. The way he spoils compared to Oscar is like chalk and cheese.

There is spoiling then there is killing a contest. Lever almost always kills a contest when attempting a spoil. Compare that to Oscar who is 50/50 at best to even get a spoil in, let alone kill a contest.

That is one example of many I could give you in regards to the two players. Marking, awareness, composure, speed, ball use, aggression. You can't compare them as players because Lever is so far ahead of Oscar in all of those areas in the game. The goal/scoring saving moments that Lever makes are out of this world.

Therefore, a few mistakes from him isn't going to get the same reaction given the level he plays at for the majority of the game. All great players who make mistakes cop far less for it because of their ability to win contests they shouldn't, create scoring chains from nothing, save what would otherwise be certain goals and the list goes on and on.

Why so hard to understand?

Case in point: Oscar spoil goes over the back and straight to a Brisbane player.

He rarely spoils with conviction and I hardly see him get a full fist on it at all.

He'd probably pop a full fist on your chin if given the chance, Steve. ;)

I'd be happy to take Lever, but why do we think he's the highest priority?

We need a replacement for Vince and other fringe midfielders. It will likely be another couple years and the same will said for Lewis and Jones.

If we're to truly challenge for a premiership we need one of, if not the best midfield in the competition.

Does make me wonder why we haven't been linked to a Dusty or a Kelly (A gun mid etc).
If we really wanted them there is no reason we would be perhaps the most enticing choice.

A Lever type won't come available every year, and looking at our key backs I think we are well short.
Goodwin wants TMac forward. That leaves Oscar, Frost....Garland....???

We need a key back. Our young mids are still finding themselves and there roles and we'll surely be able to replace Vince, Lewis with free agents next year, year after etc.

Also if we use our first rounder this year its most likely will be a mid/small type as hardly any bigs in top 20.

According to the AFL site Lever has told the Dogs he won't be going there.

So is this not confirmation to the Crows that he's not staying?

Odd really.

Just sign on with the Crows and that would inform all chasers they are out of the race for his services next year and beyond.

Haven't seen enough to even guess how good the kid might be, but I have a question.

Who is going to mind the Danihers, Browns Hipwoods of the world?

If Lever is an intercept marking player, who will shut down the skyscrapers?

That's my concern. Is he the gorilla we need to lock down? Judges the ball in flight well but it would be great to have someone we can just point to the focal point and tell them to go get em.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
