Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Great win.

One negative is that if Smith is unavailable, backline choices becoming seriously problematic. Add him to Hibberd, Garland, White, Wagner and Frost. The cupboard looking very bare.

True, although we coped okay today and you would imagine that Vince, Lewis and Salem will spend a little more time down there to cover it.

Pleased but not going overboard. I remember Tommy McDonald's 'I can't wait till we finally win two in a row' line (though that was a paraphrase). Then we lose to the Bombers in the biggest howler of the year.

The thing that stood out for me was the experience and leadership. I made a quote about St. Kilda rattling our cages and me stating that they knew we were paper tigers. In years gone by, a run like that would have gotten our tails between our legs and a pantsing would have been on the cards.

Thankfully, Jordie, Bernie and Nate (who confirmed that he is the senior partner in the Jones/Viney co-captaincy) stopped everyone. They changed tact and we got our mojo back. Being faced with a Melbourne team who would not lie down rattled THEM and they proceeded to fall to pieces.

When Riewoldt went down with the knee (touch wood it isn't too bad), was anyone else reminded of back in 2005 when we crushed Richmond and Nathan Brown snapped his leg?

This game could have as much impact on St Kilda as that had on Richmond.

Meanwhile... how eerie was it. The goal after goal just keeping on coming. The commentators having to pick up the speed when Melbourne had the ball.

This is also easily our best first round result since, coincidentally with that Richmond game, 2005.

Some seriously good coaching.

I thought we were done 1st qtr, and loved how all the players started running left nothing behind but put a score on the board. Then in the 4th you could tell everyone was cooked but we had it in the bag by then. So sorry for Nick and also Joel Smith he was really showing something straight out of the box.

Huge all team effort am deelerious

Well well well. I would not have picked that listening to the game at quarter time. Take a bow Simon Goodwin, you didn't panic and you managed to lift the team and get them playing OUR style of football. We completely controlled the game after quarter time save for some 5 minute patches and the final part to the last quarter. Really could have won by more but I ain't complaining!

Jones, Vince, and Lewis showed sensational leadership. When the ship needed steadying they stepped up.

Clayton Oliver is a gun! I don't think I need to say more.

Gawn came back at Hickey big time, revenge is sweet.

Hannan, honestly I knew NOTHING about him but he played very well for his first game and kicked two important goals.

I could go through the whole list but I'll just finish by saying the team worked together today. We worked to the areas where the ball carrier knew to look and we executed (for the most part) very well. Oscar McDonald is the only one that concerned me today, he's young and will hopefully improve but if he can't get his disposal and decision making in check than he will need a spell at Casey.

But I've had the belief that if the year we got over this road block in St Kilda and the "hoodoo" was the year that we will have finally turned the corner. I barely count the GWS win at Etihad a few years ago, this was a real win at Etihad against a team that's had the wood over us for a long time.

Go Dees!

Nick has been our nemesis for who knows how many years. Players go out of the game and its whatever luck. Weve certainly had or share of it.

Good speed to your new post footy life mr R  otherwise...well.   Thats footy

More concerned about Smith than Reiwoldt

but then..Im a Demon

Well said, DD.  Goodwin showed that he can react to situations like this and he got the boys to stick to their guns and tighten up all over the ground.  It paid dividends.

Oh no doubt. It's an important step. It now needs to be followed up (me being Captain Obvious).

I think one of the more impressive things was that there is no overreaction from the players.

If that win happened three years ago, the players would be jumping around like a pack of googy eggs. As though they had won Tattslotto on their wedding day.

While they were clearly happy, there were handshakes, balls kicked into the crowd and off to sing the song.

I also think that we didn't feel like we 'fluked' it is a big step to overcome. We were the better team. Our players are now top 8 calibre and we deserved the result.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
