Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hey guys

Just read the HS article about Macca down at the Dees. A little bit of a puff piece but none the less a good read for us long suffering

I know Macca has been discussed and praised on the site but quotes like these really excite me for 2017 and the future.

“In the really good teams that I have been associated with, the midfield training is often more intense than a game.

“And when you have to start yelling at them to stop absolutely pounding each other, seriously, that is when you know you are on your way.

“We have to stop training and say, ‘Hey boys, that’s enough, the intensity is there, save it for the weekend’.”

Oliver, McCartney admits, is a favourite.

“It is rare to find, but some players get faster the closer they get to the ball, and I love that about ‘Clarry’,” he said.

I still think 2017 is going to be a bumpy ride, but it's going to be a good ride, starting Rd 1.

What the Administration of this club has been able to achieve in 4 - 5 years after Neelds departure is downright amazing. Just spot on recruitment in all areas of the club which has changed the club on and off field for the better.

Jackson, Roos, Macca, Mahoney, T VIney, Goody, Taylor etc etc just to name the obvious ones. It also can't be ignored that some of these appointments were from the so called failed administrations and while we all get frustrated it's a good time to reflect and acknowledge the hard work done by all for our club.

Sorry I got a little distracted, but this article reaffirms for me that the club is going places. Trust the Process. I am really excited to hear some inside goss on Clarry and our Mids.

Thanks again Macca and bring on 2017. Go you bloody Dees

Was thinking about macca the other day and how much influence he had on bulldogs winning a flag, is beverage that good of a coach or was the Premiership won by some of the foundations macca built, maybe a bit of both I know no bulldogs fans give him any credit none that I have spoken too anyway

Have a read of the article. His take on it is that when he was senior coach, he lost sight of the things that made him a good coach - the empathetic, personal side of coaching.

Being the senior coach at AFL level is the pinnacle - not everyone is going to be cut out for it and in my view there's no shame in failing, and it doesn't diminish your value at the lower levels of coaching. It sounds to me as if Macca has been able to rediscover the traits that made him a sought-after assistant coach in the first place, which is fantastic for us and him.

Like you Unleash, I agree that the article is a good read, in fact I'd rate it as a very good read, and a cut above the what the HS usually serves up.  The quoted text only adds to my excitement for 2017, and beyond.

And don't forget before Footscray he was at Geelong as an assistant developing players like Johnston, Ablett, Scarlett, before they won their series of Premierships.

Settle down. Nothing has been achieved yet. It looks like it will work out, but it is still to unfold

P.S. The "so called" failed previous Administration failed like no other administration has failed before or since.

Hence why we still have no major Sponsor on the BOJ...

Please don't tell people to settle down. Following a footy team should be fun - at least some of the time. Given the 10 years of utter garbage we've witnessed I think we're allowed to get a little carried away when our young talented core give us a little hope.

I choose not to settle down. I plan to be excited. Not childish woo-woo we're gonna win everything excited, but piece by piece excited about the possibilities, the good players and good play building up to something.

You wont catch me pulling my hair out every time there's a missed kick or a slipped tackle, and wailing about how it's 'all the same as 2013, nothing has improved'.

Stop banging on about the back of the jumper. It's tiresome. You think there are 20 companies pushing the door down to give us $2.5m a season?

You can sell the BOJ any time but you have to be careful not to discount or damage the MFC brand. If they had leverage to use they would. Sponsors know the start of the season is upon us and will try to use that to their advantage. I for one hope the club doesn't blink and sticks to its guns.

Have you ever been in the commercial world?

I agree, SWYL but we've gone from a rabble in that time to now being a destination club according to Jon Ralph of all people

We have a ripping young exciting team. Will they disappoint this year? Yes they will. But I hope and believe they will pull out a few big wins as well and may just push for finals for the first time in 10 years.

That makes no sense, WYL. What has the failure of the past administrations got to do with our inability to sign a BOJ sponsor?

Settle down on the MFCSS, mate.

We are part of a $2 Billion Media Broadcast deal and we cannot attract a major Sponsor a week before the new season?

Why?

Good question. McCartney?

Then you can follow-up by asking Peter if Kent will start against the Saints?

Do u have to be mister negative every post, just relax sometimes, why so we need bojs anyway? AHG had been on the front and back for the last few years most teams only have the one sponsors on their jumpers. Going on maccas history he is a great developer of player's, first at the cats then at the dogs, beverage may have taken the dogs to flag heaven but that was on the back of macca's  player development.

I think Macca is one of those blokes whose bag wasn't to be a head coach. He is excellent at the one on one teachings but I think that he would have been hard pressed to have taken an established team any further.

That's not necessarily a sleight on him. Coaches are largely dictated to by the circumstances they find themselves in. Macca's downfall came when he rubbed up long tenured blokes like Cooney and Griffin the wrong way.

I have heard from people up Echuca way that Todd Viney lost the players at Moama as he lost the players with his hard driving approach (appropriate at an AFL club but not so great with blokes who have to work for a living).

Denis Pagan's approach worked with kids he had scared s***less when they were 17 year old kids playing for him. He walked into Carlton at the turn of the millennium with a group of players who didn't necessarily click with the 'my way or highway' approach.

Macca's fate was in some ways out of his hands. That said, I'm bloody glad he is with us.

I think the dogs would of improved under macca, how much by we will never know, the dogs are not the best team this year nor last year,  where they finished at the end of the home and away is there true position, they just had the best 4 weeks ever at the right time.

They were better than WCE Hawks and Cats, I'd have them top 3 with GWS and Swans. They are not the 7th best team this year or last

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
