Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Anyone know on which date the club's own injury list get published?

Here it is and not surprisingly, it differs from the one on the afl.com.au site (that is not to suggest the following is accurate):-

Melbourne injury list: round one

Sam Frost (toe) – test
Colin Garland (knee) – season
Michael Hibberd (Achilles) – 2-3 weeks
Liam Hulett (hip) – 3-4 weeks
Jay Kennedy-Harris (arm) – 2-3 weeks
Mitch King (knee) – 5 weeks
Aaron vandenBerg (heel) – 4-6 weeks
Josh Wagner (fibula) – 2-3 weeks
Mitch White (ankle) – 2-3 weeks

Of that list above, you could argue that Frost, Hibberd and AVB are in the best 22, while the others are on the outside looking in.  It's a longer injury list than we'd like, but we're not missing too many crucial players, so we can't complain too much.  And of those crucial players, Frost should be back very soon and Hibberd is hopefully back within a month.

Rumours St Kilda have another player out with injury too...,guess we'll find out soon

McCartin was mentioned (on 3AW?) as a possible late withdrawal.

Mentioned on 3AW yesterday that the standard time out for this type of injury is 12 weeks ...... not great

We seem to be suffering an injury curse this year. Luckily not to key players but it will test us if a few more go down.

The absence of another player on our list due to the Lumumba saga may yet become a factor

Has it been confirmed yet if its a break or a dislocation? Would have had scans by now.....? I wouldnt have thought it would be a break from the way he went down......but who knows.

Four months ... and that means he goes back to the rookie list at least until he recovers.

Does he? Wouldn't it be the LTI list as he was elevated to the senior list.

Then another rookie may get elevated if the club sees the benefit, and we have cap space.

This week's injury list is out -

Smith, Garland undergo surgery

Melbourne injury list: round two

Sam Frost (toe) – available
Colin Garland (knee) – season
Max Gawn (back) – available
Jay Kennedy-Harris (arm) – 1 week
Mitch King (knee) – 4 weeks
Michael Hibberd (Achilles) – 2 weeks
Liam Hulett (hip flexor) – 2 weeks
Joel Smith (shoulder) – 3-4 months
Aaron vandenBerg (heel) – 6 weeks
Josh Wagner (fibula) – available

Whilst both Sam Frost and Josh Wagner are available and expected to play games this weekend, I think it's fair to say they are most likely to be seen in action at Casey Fields on Saturday and not the MCG on Sunday.

Nice to see JKH just a week off...speedy recovery. Hopefully he'll be able to make his mark at Casey soon and put himself in the frame for selection.

If you take out the available players, we only have 7 who are injured, JKH is only a week away while Hibberd is just two weeks away.  That's not too bad all things considered.

I agree and the most important aspect is that none of those currently injured are first ten picked.

I do worry for Hibberd though. He has the ability to wander into the "automatically picked each week" category and at his best could make a real positive difference to the side. However his achilles injury coupled with spending a year out of the game and I wouldn't be completely surprised to not see him in Melbourne colours till after the bye.

Mitch White was down as 2 - 3 weeks in the previous list but now no longer noted. Has he recovered or just been forgotten?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
