Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He averages less than 15 possessions a game, needs to get the ball more.

Petracca average around 18 and I regarded as an up and coming gun.  Only three more than Gus.

Have we decided that Gus is now no longer trade bait? Very good.

I never considered him trade bait. For one it would be extremely poor taste to do it to a young bloke going through a difficult patch with concussions. Secondly we'd get zero value for him, we'd probably get at best a high value 2nd round pick. Not worth the investment.

Like Salem (who many had as trade bait not too long ago) with patience and determination, we will see him come good in time.

Bang on.

I have no doubt that Gus is going to be a gun.

First he has to able to stay on the ground and that is far from certain ET.

It's a step by step process, I'm not putting a ceiling on what he can achieve this year but for me give the amount of time he's had out of the game I'm not expecting anything more than for him to try to stay on the park.

I trust that the club has done their due diligence and from what I gather they've ticked him off a little while back it's been more for Gus to gain confidence in himself.

Like so many things in football, let's take it one week at a time.

He played his best football streaming forward as a more outside player in his first year. He's got good smarts, decent pace, a good long kick and loves to stream forward towards goal. Wing and half back flank are where he will settle long term IMO.

I also hope that Angus Brayshaw plays well for the Casey Demons in the VFL on the weekend in his return match.

Does anybody know if he will be wearing a helmet? I know that a helmet won't protect Angus 100% but I still think it is certainly worthwhile wearing one. Angus' health and well-being needs to be paramount and I think wearing a helmet is a better option than not wearing one.

Nevertheless, I hope that Angus now has a bit more luck on his side and he can eventually force his way back into the senior Demons side before the season finishes.

He's been training in one so you would assume he plays in it.

The only benefit would be mental, but that might be all he needs now.

From Casey report on Gus...

“He probably exceeded what we felt he was going to give us tonight, so full credit to him,” Plapp said.

“He is certainly a player we need playing and being healthy, so it was a good return from him.”

The club would be taking a long term view.  We are so much better now in giving time for players to develop and be set for AFL than any proviso time.  It shows when they come in an play.  We'll see Gus next year back at the top.

We all certainly hope so - but depending on how he goes, and team balance / spots  there should be no reason that he doesn't get a gig this year too.

Well played Gus, great to see you back in action.

Demon gets through comeback game unscathed

MELBOURNE midfielder Angus Brayshaw has emerged unscathed from his first game after seven weeks out recovering from repeated concussions.

The helmeted Brayshaw finished with 23 touches in the Casey Demons' 16-point VFL win over Essendon at Casey Field on Saturday night, including 11 possessions in the third quarter.

Brayshaw has twice been knocked out this season, one of which was an illegal hit off the ball that resulted in a one-match suspension for North Ballarat player Hayden Walters.

In May last year, he suffered two concussions at VFL level in the space of three weeks.

The Demons have been ultra-cautious with Brayshaw's recovery this year, with the hard-at-it midfielder being slowly integrated into full training over the past month and wearing a helmet in a bid to avoid any further issues.

During his time on the sidelines, Melbourne's coaching staff took the opportunity to teach and work with him on his technique when approaching contests.

They found that Brayshaw was predisposed to leading with his head and they have been trying to alter his approach to ensure he leads more with his body to absorb the contact coming his way.

Brayshaw has played 33 matches since being recruited with pick No.3 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft, but he has played just 12 of a possible 39 games since the start of 2016.

He featured in the Demons' opening two games this season, before being omitted in round three.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
