Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Fair enough. ?

Let me put it this way. Casey owned Port from the opening bounce and we should have gone on to finish the job but we didn't.  This was particularly disappointing given the overrepresentation of Melbourne listed players today , particularly those with significant AFL experience. I don't believe we were switched on at all and regrettably I was able to see that first hand.  The fact that is took a few of the Casey listed boys to get us back in the game says it all.

Early, you raised a good question and provided insight. Plapp was rotating in blocks of 4 today but there was some considerable confusion as could be expected given the number of MFC listed players. Tyson (and Watts) were rested for long periods in the 2nd qtr, and I think Kennedy and Garlett were at some stage rotated. re: Watts  - was receiving plenty of instruction  and may have been playing it to the letter. If so, he was playing very, much outside which didn't seem to work. Almost bruise free footy. I cant speak so much regarding the third qtr. as I was on the other side of the ground. Goodwin was there and hovered during the breaks. He spent time with Watts so make of that what you will.

Regarding my comments on Watts Blood, he is a fine young man and despite him having a pretty ordinary day out (by his standards) still humbly agreed to pose for pics with fans and their kids on the ground. I applaud that. He is a good team man but it doesn't mean he is any different to any other player & therefore should not be treated any differently?  He is clearly a talented footballer who is struggling at present. I hope he has the mental strength to get through this period. If he does I believe he will be an even better footballer than what we saw in 2016.Were you there today?

Nb: I apologise if I have offended anyone with my take on todays game.

Interesting that you potted the end result, saying we weren't 'switched on' for the game with so many Melbourne players in the side, yet you freely admit that there was lots of rotation going on in the second paragraph, and you can't even comment on the third quarter at all.  How you can be so sure of everything is quite baffling.

And of course they would play bruise free footy in a VFL practice game.  Why risk the injuries a week out from Round 1?  For many it was getting some run in the legs.

Reading this and your previous post about him, I doubt you'd have Watts on the list.  Are you sure that you haven't got your anti Jack Watts glasses on and perhaps your preconceived opinion of Trengove?

Going on your summary, I'm surprised we won, we did didn't we?

Some people simply cannot deal with anything negative about their heroes.

Watts is not physical enough.

Trengove is as slow as advancing lava.

Let it go.

Watts is not a hero of mine, not sure where you got that from, I just get sick of people potting players before a game and then trying to justify their position by canning them after the game. You ok with that?

With regard to Trengove, he could play a blinder and still get shytecanned by some of the posters on here, me I'd like to give him a chance to prove one way or the other before I pass judgement. You?

The selectors/coach are passing judgement on these two every week, by way on non-selection.

I'm happy to run with that.

Faulty, they were both selected for JLT3 so I can't agree with you position there and Watts played most every game last year. Trengove was coming off a long term injury and got a couple of games last year, he may or may not make it, but at least we owe him the courtesy of giving him a chance.

if he fails then the hounds can attack and call him all the names they want, it won't matter then, will it?

I'm not sure what you see as wrong on my posts.

I thought Watts was much improved last year, but he hasn't been doing what the coach wants early this season. If he plays, the coaches think he has done enough, and I will be satisfied with that.

Trengove himself made a statement that he has given up on regaining explosiveness. That's enough for me to believe he will never make it back to best 22. Can't run, means can't defend. That's supposed to be a non negotiable now I thought.

People talk about Trenners as if he is playing his first season back from injury. He had a full season last year and showed bugger all. Good luck to him, but I can only see him being de listed at end of season. Hope like hell I'm wrong, as I was a huge fan early on.

Watts played 22 games in 2016, came 5th at B&F and had his contract extended for 3 years. I'll take those stats over 2 practice games.

Yes they are, and that's what makes Demonland, on the whole, a good place to talk about the club.

How you present that perspective is what counts, though.  Rangie's came across as spiteful, in particular towards Watts, when it didn't need to be.

I don't think it did but it is impossible to judge the truth of it without having been there for myself so I take it on face value.

I do however give a lot more credence to reports that have a balance between the positive and the negative.  I virtually discount those overly optimistic reports and am suspicious of those who are incapable of criticism.

Rangie has expressed an opinion at least...

Wonder if the positive spin on Watts game has come from the club because they want him to play round 1?

Not to be too much of a smart arse but lava is deceptivly fast. Depending on the Volcano it can be up to 60kph. If Trenners is clocking those speeds then it might be time to bring him in.

I was aware of that when I typed it.

Didn't think anyone would waste their time bringing it up ;)

With respect that doesn't make much sense. If the club want him to play round one they dont need to worry about spin they will just pick him. Which they will by the way.

As i have said before he is one of our most important players. Look at the highlights of the wc game and count how often watts is involved in scoring chains. Sounds similar on sunday with him setting up goals but no doubt also being involved in mutiple scoring chains. He is critical to our chances of putting a winning score on the board.

Critiques of him playing without sufficient physicality on sunday are absurd. As someone noted as if the afl players were going to risk injury in a vfl practice game by going at it full tilt. They wouldnt have been allowed to. His 'intensity' was fine against wc.

By the by rangehood makes pd look moderate.Demonland's own version of the far right in the usa.

It happens all the time.  Players about to be elevated are name dropped in the previous week or weeks flagging their impending selection.

But yes I didn't really express that correctly.

I would think we saved a chunk of salary cap space though. And we now have two players on the long-term injury list, so it doesn't matter anyway.

Spot on FT, I do not understand all the angst about the prince's spot.

The simple fact is that he was a disruptive element at the club that is now gone.

Happy days IMO.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
