Posting Unsubstantiated Rumours on this Website is Strictly Forbidden

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

At best probably 4-5 years. To get 100 games would be massive from this point and very unlikely.

Yes, Redleg. 100 games achieved would be excellent for Corey and we'd reckon he could probably get there, too. Just because he is 26 years old does not really mean a great deal to me. What is signifies is sporting experience at a highly competitive level and a certain type of conditioning that has served him well for many observers so far, despite footy being a highly differential code of sport. If he is impressive to those who have seen him and also those with real knowledge beyond that of a mere supporter - eg: Gary Lyon - then maybe one could reserve opinions at this point or give credit to acknowledged potential.  I'd reckon he was spot on for our team and have been impressed with his game and skills yet I have only seen him twice. Let's hope it turns more favourably as the year progresses.

Yep, having this guy on our Category B list is really stopping us from developing the next superstar.

I honestly don't care if Maynard never amounts to more than good foot soldier - every premeriship team has a dozen goof foot soldiers behind it and Maynard looks like he could fit that bill to me.

To put him in the same basket as players like Mitchie, Newton, Pig Dog etc is total BS.  This guy has size, athletic ability and competitiveness/agression running through his veins which to me suggests he will make his mark.

I know not everyone rates his opinion, but Garry Lyon on SEN yesterday mentioned that he thought Corey could turn into something special.  Can't remember his exact wording but he sounded pretty excited about what he could bring.

Last year he was very bullish about Clayton Oliver before 2017 started, so hopefully he has the same foresight on Corey.

I hope you're right, but I wouldn't hold Gazza's opinion above many others. I think most of us picked Clarry for a big season after Round 1 2016.

But for the record, Corey certainly has the body and I'm intrigued to see what he brings.

We have also already seen a marked steady improvement in Maynard - by some reports, right up until his final game in 2017. This is not the definition of a list-clogger.

I hear you brother.

Please remind me just how many years this guy has spent ('clogging') an AFL list?

I think it's very difficult to tell a persons strength by looking at them and Jnrmac's statement was absolute.  I just wondered if he had hard evidence or if it was based on using his eyes which to me means it's just a guess.

How do you measure a person's strength? There are a number of ways you can do that in a gym - e.g. the bench press.

On a football field you can tell it by the way players can burst through packs, shrug off tackles and lay hard tackles on opponents. I don't think it's all that difficult to make an assessment as to whether a player is strong by observing how he plays. It's probably more difficult to determine the relative strengths of two players. Physical strength is an attribute of both Maynard and Tyson and of course, we've had more opportunities to see the latter in the pressure of an AFL game.

Mental strength is another thing altogether and that's where Jack Viney comes into it because he's shown that he's up there with the best in both departments despite his size.

You have obviously decided that Corey won't make it.

Some of us disagree.

So rather than being optimistic and excited about untried players in the off season, you would rather talk about our past glories I guess.

You've got a problem letting go don't you.  Couldn't help yourself with Saty and now continue to pot Watts at every opportunity.  He's gone, you've won, move on.

The sweet irony.

Just love your positive outlook, jumbo.

When will the next species-extinction meteor strike occur?  Gosh, could be next year’ grand Final day ?

DEE-RUBBING by George on the Outer

For the second week in a row, the Demons had to endure some particularly oppressive match conditions — this time, playing in 30 degree temperatures at the MCG, following the humid sticky Sydney atmosphere of last week.   The warmer conditions didn’t seem to worry the Dee’s since the ball was so much easier to handle, and handle it with surety they did in handing out a 45 point drubbing to the much fancied Western Bulldogs.   After a slow start that saw the Dogs out to

CROSSING THE PICKETT LINE by The Oracle

Melbourne’s performance in losing its Round Zero contest in Sydney has certainly caused the club, the coach and the players to come firmly under the watchful eye of the football world and exposed all of its aspects to a microscopic lens.   Much of the commentary surrounding them has been less than complimentary and, while some might argue that this is unfair after only one round, leaving aside some of the scuttlebutt that surrounds a lot of the discussion around the game, a fair amoun
