Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I don't think those guys are definite best 22 so left them out.

Strong squad though!

Seeing two of them are premiership players and the other one of their best mids before injury I'd say you're mistaken.

Listened to bits and pieces on the radio. The game sounded as though both teams worked themselves into it and wanted to get through having worked on a few things.

Jack Viney stood up well as captain and Jesse did what he was supposed to. I think giving Weid a run here was good as I think the Bear will be CHF until halfway through the year. Weid will get games  on a forward flank mixed with games at CHF at Casey.

My opinion. With Cloke coming in dickson may struggle to get a game. And they won the flag without Suckling last year.

At the end of the day, who really cares, it's obvious they have a strong squad so they probably have 30 guys who should be best 22.

We were much closer to full strength than the Dogs. But they are still a well trained, well drilled side who should be able to put away most teams even without Bont, etc.

There's nothing but good to take from this game. We more than matched it with them.  Our guys now know the magic hasn't left with Roos. We can take it up to anyone.

Next challenge, Carlton. (We owe them.)

A win is a win and you can only play who is in front of you. In fact, in the first round of the preseason you're more likely to get better performances from marginal players desperate to impress.

My mistake re Suckling (injury), but those 3 are most definitely best 22 whether it's your opinion or not.

Well if you want to get technical only one of them played in the premiership last year. Not sure if you remember Wallis snapping his leg and likely not getting back for the majority of this year?

Why is it that someone is not allowed to state their opinion with someone telling them they are wrong? What part of the word opinion do you not understand?

You remind me of the old marketing manager at my work who would bring over a new set of prints and ask me which I liked the most. I would advise the one I like and then she would spend 10 minutes telling me why that isn't the best one.

Re-read my post.  I said one was one of their best mids prior to injury.

Clearly that was Wallis and not Suckling, who plays in defence.

Opinions can be wrong when there's enough evidence.  Those 3 were best 22 in 2016.  Nothing has happened to change that.  Certainly not the acquisition of Cloke, who's not competing with Dickson for a spot.

I agree an opinion based on bias is not worth arguing about.

We were 4 goals up with 10 mins to go. In the last part of the 2nd & 4th quarters we gave up something like 7 goals, and only allowed 4 goals the rest of the game.

This could be because we just relaxed our intensity & let them back in, or because they were only really playing with real intent for those 2 bursts of 10 minutes.

On the other hand, as Goody said, we're 3 or 4 weeks ahead of them in preparation.

He is only a backman, they are not the smartest players going round.

Tommy holds his own pretty well though and after a start that had the commentators salivating that he was the recruit of the year, Oscar did a pretty good job on Cloke.

I appreciate you may have been tongue in cheek, but I'd quite happily have Tom McDonald rather than Travis Cloke in any contest where intellect is being measured. In fact, I'd take any of our defenders ahead of Cloke.

And just to get Old Dee and other old timers others with good memories involved, didn't Doc Roet play CHB?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
