Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The adventures of President Donald Gump

The Donald has been active for only 2 weeks but gee what theatre! I wake up every morning eager to tune in to the latest episode of the president and he never disappoints. It is all action. Bans on Muslims from every country that hasn't attacked the US on their soil, that makes sense. But open borders to our Saudi friends who manned the 9/11 jets.  Giving our PM Mr Trumball a right old rollicking, leaking it to the US media, then bragging about how tough he has had to be but then denying it all happened in the space of 48 hours! That is our Donald! The world of politics as we know it has gone mad.

The man is unhinged and I will state here and now within the next 2 years, he or his chief advisor, Steve Bannon will declare war on someone. My guess is Iran, it's the only country left that hasnt been trashed by the US or has been caused by them, in the Middle East. There is Israel of course but if The Donald is going to move the US embassy to Jerusalem then the Palestinians have no choice but to rebel for their survival. It is called genocide anywhere else. So expect more unnecessary carnage that will impact on people in Isreal and the Middle East.

Welcome to the future.

It is nothing but interesting (and often amusing) ... it's difficult to look away Earl.  It's like he's created his own reality show that can only star and involve 1 person - himself.

Was going to start a thread asking people to find the most obscure way he could end up losing the Presidency (whether impeached or otherwise) ... the possibilities are endless.  Every day brings a new aspect/angle/situation.

One thing that can be said though ... he's not going to change and what you see is what you get.  There's a unique transparency that defies logic.

Ultimately he will fail spectacularly and it's hard to see him lasting 4 years ... I reckon the Republicans will bring about his demise (if he is somehow impeached the Republicans will be needed in order to impeach him)

Before anyone accuses me of being from the left - just don't.  I have very little regard for the extreme left or those who lean too far left and ... I have the same low regard for those from the far right (or the alt-right)  Both sides have numerous loonies and are as bad as each other.

As for Trump - he's a totally different cat altogether.

Macca I hope he fails but if he doesn't we are in trouble because I believe he is pushing the boundaries of his power with every edict he makes.

A federal judge has today called a halt to his edict on Muslim entries to the US. What happens next will be a guide to our future. If the Judge's ruling is overturned by the power of the president with no new evidence,  we have commenced a new era of conflct

The best thing to do is take to the streets and rant and rave like a deranged lunatic with a tummy full of sugar. There's nothing else for it.

How dare the Americans exercise their democratic rights and not vote for the woman!!!

Biff I am not arguing that the Gump got voted in, although it was by 3 million less votes than his rival. We agree he is the main man, the big Kauhuna, the big cheese. But we don't have to agree that he has any competence for the job!

The thing I like best about the quick pace of his draining of the swamp is the perpetually enraged serial protestors can't protest about everything at once. Next week he will likely pull out of the Paris climate agreement. The following the UN will can kiss a large slab of their funding goodbye. Ohh what to protest about.

It's got nothing to do with the Democrats or Hillary anymore - that ship sailed in November ... most have acknowledged that Trump has won, even his haters.

This is all on Trump and Trump alone ... many who are firmly in his camp now will be looking for the exit plan soon enough.

By the way, I believe Hillary would have failed as well.  Most political leaders do and so too their idealistic parties.

I'm forever amazed why so many idolise so-called leaders in an often obsessive/compulsive fashion ... we see it in footy all the time.  The pedestals are often crowded from the adoring crowds whilst people like me don't believe in that nonsense at all.

No system works and no system will ever work.  Why?  Because humans are ungovernable.  We all share the same dastardly traits.  No matter what religion, colour, language, political beliefs et al - we're all different but we're all the same.

Trump will go down the same path as many of his predecessors ... he'll fail sooner or later.  Replaced by another who will almost certainly fail.

Ha ha ha!

Well played sir ... and no, there's not a snowflakes chance in hell that I'm ever having another bet.

If he lasts 4 years it will mean that he's done a decent job ... just can't see it happening.  Not with Trump anyway.  Sooner or later he'll make an error that will get him impeached (that's my non-bet anyway)

Besides which, you told us on numerous occasions that he'd be an absolute train-wreck.  You haven't changed your mind so soon have you?

It's going to be a wild ride ... no doubt.

I posted earlier that what you see is what you get with Trump but that includes an unpredictability that is unprecedented.  It was the same in the 18 month lead up to the election.

Every day brought a new aspect/angle/situation in that lead-up and nothing much has changed.  Now, that's not my cup of tea but I'm hard to please ... for many, they love what he's doing and that has to be acknowledged.

I genuinely hope Trump proves me wrong and if he does, I'll be happy to acknowledge that.

It's only been 14 days - there's a ways to go.

Which part of the swamp is being drained Wrecker? The members of congress, the senate, the myriad of lobbyists, the multitude of public servants who are there merely to follow orders? The Gump talks about draining the swamp but what does that mean, who are his targets? All we know is that he has added quite a few apex predators to the swamp.

Interesting article from the New York Times ... the article seems completely unbiased to me.  More like a case of reporting the facts (not alternative facts)

Mr Trump's Random Insult Diplomacy

And here's my take on the 'Wall' that may or may not be built ... I'm rather happy that the 'plan' to build the wall is still on (although Trump has stated that parts of the wall will be a fence - a rabbit-proof fence?)

  • It's going to have to be approximately 3200 kilometres long (which is the equivalent distance of Melbourne to Cooktown - Cooktown is 200 ks further on from Cairns)  That's quite some distance.  Ever driven that far?
  • The wall would need to be 'manned' ... one outpost every 50 metres amounts about to about 64,000 guards ... that will cost a bit.  Where's the money for that going to come from?
  • A 21 foot wall isn't going to keep people out anyway ... they can go underneath, over the top (a 22 foot ladder should suffice) or around it.  They can come in via Canada or simply fly in on a visa on a one-way ticket.  Or be dropped off via a boat along the West coast or around Florida.   Where there is a will there is a way.
  • The outlay of building this wall will cost the Americans a small fortune ... talk of whacking on a 20% tax on Mexican goods would amount to the Americans paying for it ... they import a great deal from Mexico so up goes the cost of living - 'Trump-Style'  Do his supporters understand that they'll be lumbered with the cost?  Probably not.
  • The initial money needed for the wall would need to be passed by congress and there's already a number of Republican reps who are dead against the idea.  They're talking about a cost of 10-20 billion but it would almost certainly cost a great deal more than that.

The Press should hound the White House & Trump about the wall ... they're on solid ground in terms of it being non-viable and Trump and his goon mates won't have any answers.  It's a weak spot that needs to be attacked.

Apart from the fact that he lost the popular vote, do you think Trump will practice what he preached in 2012 re the electoral college?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
