Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Today Jordan Lewis was teaching the boys about the fine points of unsociable football, viney went the best in unsociable drills,  watts just could not get his head around it,  CP5 would do it with a smile, nev hit the hardest, pedo duck his head,  Angus kept getting his head knocked and omac did not see it coming, overall it was a well run drill,  but many egos where bruised and Tyson hurt his knee again, some will question if it had any benefit to it, others will say they have done it as well,  others will be scratching their heads

Was that before or after a brick fell from the sky and hit Salem in the head?

They should run a "piss taking course" for Demonlanders who don't get a joke.

Can't believe it wasn't reported before! I heard someone say it came from an aeroplane. I was too distracted by some goose wearing a silver rabbit mask when it happened to see for myself

I posted this on the Women's football board but thought it was worth putting over here on the main board:

I love the fact that the back page of the Age is red and bue with a photo of daisy. Great for our club and the decision years ago to invest in and support women's football will play big dividends for us in terms of exposure and growth in the number of supporters.

To be honest i hadn't given the AFLW a great deal of thought but i'm now genuinely looking forward to it and its great i have to team to barrack for

Just on Tyson and his knees, when I went to training in later December, one thing I noticed about Tyson (but didn't mention) was the way he stands and the mechanics of his legs.

When standing and walking, it's as if he is in a constant state of hyperflexion. As if he has abnormally flexible knee joints and that the supporting ligaments and muscles surrounding the knee are unusually stringy.

It just genuinely looked like his legs would snap at any second. I wonder if this contributes at all to these knee injuries that seemingly keep occurring. You'd have to think so.

I assume you mean hyperextension.

I do wonder how much prehab our guys do and working on posture, gait etc. Hogan's bow legged and awkward running style is the one that makes me think of it. But with how professional the staff are surely they are all over it? Probably can't fix these things overnight, have to do a lot of core work, exercises, gait technique, taping etc to get it right.

True I think too many demonlanders   are far to serious,  but I think they could benefit if Lewis did teach them on unsociable footy

Agree with all of that however what I see with Tyson isn't something that can be fixed.

The elasticity of his knee joint seems to me to be what's causing him to stand and walk in such a hyperextended pose.

Next time you're at training, have a look at him and compare him to anyone else.

Not a lot to report from today's session. My guess is that today's training whilst designed to be one of 3 main sessions for the camp, was never meant to be full gas like some that I have seen up here over the past 3 years, where they were monitoring body temps etc. It was a bit lackluster in my book.

Either they are: still acclimatizing / still hungover from Australia Day / have already been thrashed over the last 2 days. Take your pick? I'm expecting Saturday's session to be the one to be at to get a better reflection of how things are tracking.

Here's some observations from today session for what it's worth:

* Maynard and Tim Smith both caught my eye. Both impressed me with their mobility for big guys and impact around the ground. Smith looks to me like he has worked hard on his game and will contribute something to the seniors. Maynard's swagger reminds me a bit of watching Petracca for the first time 2 years ago. Smith a focal point up forward and I think Maynard a back/mid at a guess.

* Slightly different vibe about training from the past 3 years. Couldn't put a finger on what it was. Perhaps the best way to describe it is it was a little more chilled out. Not sure if that is good or bad but it was noticeable.

* Surprised at some of the different faces being vocal and taking leadership roles. Vandenburg & Bugg among them.

* Won't bother listing the rehabbers, if anyone wants to know I'm sure they'll ask. I can say that all of them are not far off the pace and in good nick considering.

* Just realized none of the indigenous boys were there. Maybe training with the Boomerangs or something? Just guessing.

* Clarry provided the highlight of the session for me, making a tackle that I'm still shaking head at and wondering how he made it.

* Jason Taylor watching on. Was good to see him still taking an interest in how the newer recruits were travelling.

* The Hulk looking confident with his goal kicking.

Still waiting for some signs that some of that greatness is kicking in - Lets wait and see what Saturday brings.

Don't tell me that Ben Guthrie was wrong.

I was surprised by the Burgo comment, Pedo at start of pre season told me they wanted him around the size he was which was a tick under 100kg, he had toned a bit but obviously a change of plan, think the days of him rucking are over, we seem to want mobile guys up forward

Could be right there mate. Perhaps they are keeping the scheduling close to a normal routine.

Didn't see much craft today though.

I can picture this Saturday being more match practice with a lighter buildup throughout the week. That is either a change from the Roos era or it's because we are a week later into pre-season this year. I can recall past camps being draining sessions all through the week.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
