Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

In what universe is this guy an AFL standard player?

He is slow, ;lacks awareness, fumbly, easily pushed of the ball and just not up to it.

Love to know what the match commitee see that I don't ???

Anyone else share the same opinion?

Jeebuz mate, give him a break, he's young and in his second year, he could be as good as his brother but needs time

KPDs take a long time.

Anyone who saw the actual spud that Frawley was in his first couple of seasons or how Oscar's brother played in his first year will remember that they looked hopeless.

Oscar needs at least 10kgs and 20 games to begin to look like a semi respectable player. Playing "softer" games like against Brisbane to gain experience is not a bad thing. It doesn't cost us much and it's good for his development.

When half of Demonland wants Dunn and/or Garland banished to Africa, I'm not sure what the alternative is. We have to be patient. I see enough talent in him to justify it.

On point.

As GOOD as his brother?? Many on this site wouldn't rate his bother as highly as that!

what a system of rating players, the Demonland Player Performance Index. It will help to provide clarity on the potential and the ability of football players and probably will be adopted by coaching and list managements staff.

Tom Mac was in the same boat as younger brother. Defenders don't seem to get the same reconition as mid and forwards. People should be patient with O.Mac,he will become a quality defender. Frost will also become a champion.

We should be giving players senior game for part of their development, senior footy is way ahead of reserve footy. Also people like O'Mac and Frost need to be groomed, the likes of Dunn and Garland are not going to be the future of our defence. There is nothing wrong with development especially this year as we are unlikely to make the eight. Remember Roos telling Pedersen and Harmes to pull their finger out, guess what?

And in the end he was outmarked by Ollie Wines then a one hand pathetic attempt at tackling, gave port another easy goal! Give me a break! Insipid!

As we all said last week, he simply isn't ready for AFL level yet. He might be a good player for us long term, but short term he isn't ready. If we played Dunn today it would've been more of a contest.

First and foremost though, the midfield needs to show up!

He just doesn't seem to be able to read the play. Too weak. Has no urgency in his play. Is slow. Slow decision maker. Bad decision maker also. id rather a shaved chimp line up in our back line.

I think he reads it ok, he's just not strong enough yet so he gets out bodied at the start of a contest and then can't get back into it. With time and strength he can fix that part of his game.

The concerning thing that is hard to teach is his lack of intensity. He's like Cale Morton out there and just seems scared a lot of the time.

You are absolutely correct.  A smaller player should never outmark a larger player.

I also noticed Hogan being outmarked on occasions by a smaller player.

Obviously "He just doesn't seem to be able to read the play. Too weak. Has no urgency in his play. Is slow. Slow decision maker. Bad decision maker also"????????????? as "Age" would have us accept.

With the greatest of respect to the McDonald hating scribes, I would suggest you watch the Bears and this game with an open mind, try and consider what the coaches are trying to do and pay some attention to how the players upfield have allowed the ball to be turned over and run easily into defense leaving defenders outnumbered.  Sadly, I think Oscar and his brother are receiving excessive criticism for perceived errors actually caused by a failing by a player or players upfield.

To me at least, he is so clearly not ready for AFL football. He's not strong enough, he has no idea what to do with it offensively (the only player in today's 22 who didn't look comfortable transitioning into attack) and he just looks lost in zone defence right now.

I'm not putting a line through him, I'm more than happy to give him time, but right now that time should be in the VFL not the AFL. He is just not good enough to hold a spot in the seniors right now.

Reckon a lot of the criticism is unfounded, notwithstanding he is currently struggling.

I reckon he'll be a player. Anyone who saw him Round 1 of the VFL or against Northern Blues could see his abilitty on display. Reads the ball well and repeatedly ran off his opponent. However he seems to lack self confidence at the next level so far.

I'd be all for sending him back to VFL level, even for the rest of the year in order for him to get that confidence back in himself. It was well worth the experiment for now given Dunn's form has been on the wane. Hopefully Frost will be the next given an opportunity to cement that key defender spot.

I really hope we're all over Hurley at the moment!

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
