Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I had a chat to Crossy, yes he was bitterly disappointed, but could understand the thinking behind the decision, as Poita said we needed to get games into some of the younger ones

Club gave him a chance to pursue career off field, he had a few offers, but decided MFC was where he wanted to be

Keeps his hand in playing with his old junior club in Albury when he can

'Offers from other clubs' for a position on their list, or for a position as a coach/fitness guy?

In any event, I'm really pleased he stayed with the MFC. He adds so much value to the club.

I don't think the playing offers were AFL, I know there was interest from other clubs on coaching/fitness side    one thing I do know   Goody is all for relationships   the players 'love' Crossy   think his new nickname is 'Doc' heard the boys in rehab calling him that

As for Terlich, he was only on 2 yr contract, think the confusion arose from his profile on website in 2nd year said he had 2 years to run in contract, that was wrong

I think Jnr is correct and he got a 3 year contract in one hit.

I found this post in a quick search on Demonland, it suggests that he did get an additional two years rather than three.

Why wasDean given two years on the back of an underwhelming 2014 season? How many memberships are covering the cost of hiscontract? PS. I actually li...

Crossy was offered a lifeline by the Bombers as a top up player but turned it down for the gig at the Dees.

In this Clayton's training thread, I'll hijack the thread to thank all the track watchers who have contributed some terrific reports over the pre-season, with loads of detail. Thanks everyone!

I pass through the general area of Gosch's on a fairly regular basis in my day to day tasks, and have seen quite a few snippets of training; on 2 occasions I was there for a reasonable amount of time. Fwiw, I've seen enough to make the following general observations about the following who have caught my eye as likely to add significantly to what was on offer last season. Probably nothing that hasn't been noted here already, but here goes, in broadly number order:

  • Hogan - just looks like he's going to go to another level this year if he stays injury free; fit, strong and skilful.
  • Lewis - the kicking: it draws your eye when watching him in the group.
  • Brayshaw - looks stronger and fitter, and a real presence in drills and match sims.
  • Gawn - see Hogan entry. Could be scarily good this year - please stay fit, Max!
  • Billy Stretch - looks to have progressed strongly in his physical development, and should step up to be a consistent and skilful player.
  • Oscar - should be a more imposing presence on the ground with a body that's filling out.
  • Jayden - there looks to be more of everything with him; seems to have taken the Olympic motto to heart ("Citius, altius, fortius"); also looks more confident in his work on the track - his break-out season has no doubt added to that. Exciting!
  • Joel Smith - a bit like the J Hunt entry, with a lot of skill on show together with significant apparent physical development.

In addition, Weideman looks bigger, but whether this is the year where he makes significant impact, time will tell.

Oliver is interesting. Doesn't seem like a natural running machine like some other mids, but you'd like to think that his output would be improved from last year with the work that he's had to do over the summer. Petracca probably in a similar category. Both works in progress from point of view of fitness, but would expect both to be in a better to position to have more impact on the ground.

As an overall observation, the intensity of work in terms of running and physical contact in drills and match sims is significantly higher than what I can recall seeing in previous pre-seasons.

Which is all well and good, but who knows whether or not the increase in intensity is just keeping up with, or catching up to, the work of the leading clubs.

Why are we splitting hairs about Daniel Cross?  He was sensational for us, but clearly we made the right decision.  It's not as if we went backwards when he retired.  Strange discussion to have.

I agree with you Wiseblood.  Cross was (and in a different capacity still os) great for us but he was moved on sideways at the right time.

A very different case than was James McDonald, who especially in retrospect was moved on far too early and treated appallingly by those in power at the time.

I ticked the 'like' box but would really like to have a bigger option.

The demonic peace? Or is that referencing the books about a demon hunting soccer mom (sic)?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
