Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tyson will be coming from a long way back as a result of this, which is a big blow as his second half of 2016 was as good as any mid we had I thought.

Saying that, as others have said, it opens an opportunity for other mids to step up - be it Brayshaw, Oliver, Salem, Trengove, or a surprise kid coming through.

Tyson is a goal kicker, and we will miss the way he's able to impact the scoreboard if he's not up to full fitness by the start of the season.

Fine let him come from a long way back, don't rush and have a rubbish season. Take an extra however many weeks need to get to as close to full fitness before playing, if that is week 5 then so be it. I don't get the need to rush for round 1, it's a bloody long season at AFL level.

the other one who impressed today was Nev Jetta.  His kicking was very good indeed in all the drills and he was heavily involved.

I was actually pretty impressed with Spencer's kicking today...hopefully it's something he's been working on which will improve his chances at getting the back-up ruck spot.

Good session from what I saw today...................

There seems to be a bit of man love between Rooke and Clarry, I expect those 2 will work closely.

As far as I'm concerned that is a match made in football mentorship heaven

Ok it is a story for Commercial Television 'News', Christian still laughed about it when I chatted to him

Looks like Dom's four to six to me was about right

The initials, ANB, VDB, JKH, BenKen and JT will all have a chance to push for mid field time.

This might sound odd but how the hell do you dislocate a tendon? The patella makes sense but a tendon?

Tendons are there to hold things in place and are fibrous. How do they dislocate?

@Webber can you share some insight?

a guess. maybe it just means a twisted tendon, like a rope twisted. i remember i twisted a couple of tendons in my knee many many moons ago. at least that is what the great bill mitchell diagosed. he did his magic manipulations which made a big difference and i recovered in 2 weeks.

Afl induction day at Etihad for all newly listed AFL players today.

Is that one of the myriad of sessions when they are, iter alia, told about their personal responsibilities regarding what they ingest?  The session that apparently the Essendon 34 (or however many it was) either ignored or thought did not apply to them.

Must be true if it is on 7️⃣?

Media typo. Dislocate the patella, not its tendon. A patella dislocation tears the tissue on the inside part of the knee as a result of the kneecap moving laterally (to the outside). There's also the potential risk of damage to the articulate surface of the kneecap (the underside). If all is well, he should make an uncomplicated recovery. Weightbearing load needs to be managed so as not to create irritability at the kneecap or potential instability. He'll be doing lots of bike and upper body work.

given it happened pre xmas he is already nearly 3 weeks into his rehab, so he has a lot of time to complete rehab and make the season start

Dr Google reckons it's an 8 week recovery. So 6 more weeks of rehab to be conservative and he should be in full training around Feb 20- 27 at the latest, and hopefully be right to play West Coast in the final pre-season game on March 9, followed by a Casey hit out.

I would be unpleasantly surprised if he misses round 1.

So far he has played exactly the same way he did at the Pies.

He is too short. If you are short then to be a regular at AFL senior level you have to be better than just an average player.

He is not particular fast or skilful.

Soft call on an easy target - like your persecution of Chris Dawes.  It's too easy to say that for various reasons they are going to struggle to make it.

If you want to make valuable commentary on players' future prospects then stick your neck out on genuinely challenging calls like Frost, VDB, Harmes, Wagner etc.

With Dom repeatedly mentioning it's his quad and Mahoney's reference to the patella tendon I think he's clearly done something different to a straight forward dislocation. Are you familiar to these types of injuries? Hopefully it isn't too bad.

Whether it's "painfully obvious" or just questionable, I think we should be able to say so. What I object to is disrespectful commentary, such as calling players "spuds".

To be clear, Old Dee, I don't think you've been disrespectful at all. I don't see how consistency of argument (ie, the polite way of saying repetitive) is in any way inappropriate.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
