Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Snippet of inside info (second hand):

Players had an exceptionally tough camp recently at Anglesea.

They had no more than about 2 hours sleep a night.

Lewis ran through Tyson in one training drill.  Tyson not rapt in the treatment.  Scuffle.  No apologies from Lewis.  (I'm guessing this is the standard of the ruthless club he comes from and the type of culture he's brought).

Salem concussed when something fell on his head during the camp.  Don't know more, but assume he's ok.

I believe young Bernie will shortly be announcing his engagement.

Didn't Bernie announce his engagement last week?

Thanks for the snippets, ProDee!

The Lewis/Tyson episode reminds me of something similar between Viney and Tom Mac last preseason.  As one would expect no quarter given by Viney, either!!

Hope Salem is ok - he has had at least 2 or 3 concussion episodes over the last 2 years.  He is on the cusp of reaching his brilliant best - it would be a tragedy if that was interrupted again.

I can add to this info

- Salem badly concussed at the commando style camp

- Tyson injured his knee quite badly and will miss a large chunk of pre season training

- Hibberd injured knee also, not as severe as Tyson.

Not good to hear about those injuries. Tyson has existing knee issues so they might take their time easing him back if he has re-injured it.

Not good to hear Salem was concussed again. Feels like this kid will never get a good run at it :(

Presumably though Salem can continue to work on his fitness.

Just hope this doesn't stop him triggering an extension clause in his contract ...

I've been to these commando styled leadership/camaraderie weeks where you get put into a lot of sleep debt and are then relied upon to make good decisions. There were many injuries due to the nature of the terrain let alone a shed load of footballers belting into one-another.

Poor training decision if true.

What's the purpose of the sleep deprivation?

Does it work like high altitude training for the brain? Or is it just designed to toughen you up?

As McQueen alluded to, it's about decision-making under duress. The theory is if you can lock in good decisions without sleep, you'll make great ones when you're sleeping well.

Most of my best life choices are made under sleep deprivation due to my nocturnal activities.

Bernie may change his mind after a good kip.

The training camp was in Whittlesea, they began at AAmi stadium, Had a huge workout on beach after that then bus to the camp, they walked for hours, slept very little and had to guard an area on very little sleep.  Apparently the Demons were the first group ever where no one was caught asleep whilst they were supposed to be on guard!  The Demon I spoke to said this was by far the hardest thing he has done in his life.  He came out of it uninjured other than huge blisters from sit ups in the sand, but he was exhausted for days afterward.

Yes apologies. He did say that - one connects Anglesea more with beaches than Whittlesea.

As for when, clearly post Christmas because there has been vision of Tyson training unhindered at around that time.

Camp finished 21st Dec - was definitely Whittlesea - they were inland in bush - before catching the bus there they were at Brighton beach.

Well when I signed up there was no woman's AFL!!

Max is awesome as an avatar - he's staying.

Sometimes it is easier to be "thought of" as a male, but after being referred to as "he" a few times, I felt obliged to come clean.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
