Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TIM SMITH

I’m not big into criticism of players, but I did not hold high hopes after his injury last year. But I was wrong, possible his added maturity helped his cause. Great to see him find a role in a AFL team.

There is no doubt that he is contributing more than Sam at the moment and in fact he is playing very well, but obviously, long term, Sam will/should take over from him.

He has been very good and it's a pity he was injured in that game last year, which effectively ruled him out for the remainder of the season, he's shown the form that Drunkin knew he was capable of and hats off to him for that.

I love the way he plays the game and his strength around the ball and his clean hands and vision have been a revelation, to some of us that is, I was a bit apprehensive when they picked him but rapt that they did.

He fits in well with the rest of the group and he certainly doesn't detract from our on field performance, of course if he keeps this up it will be difficult for Pedo to get a game with is a seems but that's just how it is.

Great effort so far and let's hope he can build on it.

Trying to match up Hoges, TMac, Trac and Bull must be a nightmare for the opposition.

It would be even worse if Pedo was in the side, with these four greats, making 5 greats to contend with plus the super-contributing smalls that are so clever finding space. Sorry, just really like the way Pedo plays....

I bet Bull will bob up with a bag of 5 goals soon enough.

The list of players we have that are capable of doing that is growing by the week.  Firepower a plenty.

Looks as if he will get that tally, soon, in one game.

No way would we add Pedo to the mix unless one of the existing talls was injured. Even then I bet Weideman gets picked if he has form.

Pedo's days are done. He can be proud of his career.

And how good is it that there is competition for the place .... nobody can rest on their laurels.

And if I heard correctly Pedersen was up there backing the team even though he may have felt he should be in the team.  Great club spirit.

I've seen Pedo up in the Trident section mixing with fans and cheering on the team. Very friendly bloke

I think Smith is ace.  After Rance’s special (how many players does he fly the knees into?  He should be held to account, dirty prich), he has worked himself back into the team.  It is brilliant, because it adds another dimension to the forward line, and provides a great challenge for Weids to earn his spot against.  No gifting games.

He adds strength and skill to the forward line.  Go Bull!

Couple of things, as some others have said I was one not sold on Bull but it is so good to see him bringing something to the team. If he keeps this form up and hopefully some improvement still to go, he will keep Weid out of the side.

Said it before but if Peds had of been this dedicated when he first arrived at the club he’d have played a lot more footy.

I wanted him rookied after his first season with Casey..  it didn't happen, but I'm certainly happy it has.

And into my SC side he goes.
Running 6 Melbourne players at the moment.
Going against my usual policy.

Frightening - imagine coaches attempting to cover / account for that line-up! Nice one, DV8.

I think it shows at the moment that we need Pedo in 2019.

TMc apparently has turf toe since last year, which took out Aaron Sandilands for big chunks of seasons.

Sandilands has lost a lot of games over a few seasons with the injury... and Weide will not be a No1 ruck, come 2019.

....  I think Pedo is a must keep, for 2019_    we've already seen how Pedo and Tmc can work in tandem, to get the job done.

Bull, Trac and Hogan can all rotate positions as HF's and on-ball.

Gut runners in Jones, ANB & Harmes.

Both Brayshaw and Salem are interchangeable in the guts, or off half-back.

A handy interchange with all running players, with a little tow. and some class.

We lack a backup, genuine 1st ruck, atmo.   So Pedo is our Mr capable.

@Drunkn167 any stories for us from Bull? How’s he feeling this year compared to last?

How does he think he is going the last 2 weeks?

Does he think he can get to 100 games for the club..

Sorry mate I couldn't tell ya. I havent spoken with him for a while but knowing Bull he'd be super happy playing the way he is in a fantastic team, especially given the work he has had to do to get there.

Considering we've had Pat McKenna and another player [Forgotten his name it's been that long] on the long term injury list without a game in 3 or 4 years, it makes sense to have Pedo in reserve for the foreseeable future if his body is willing. Who's to say he hasn't got another 2 to 3 years in him? He came back pretty fit in the off-season and shed a lot of kilo's. He might even have a massive tom mac like impact if given the opportunity later in the year.

Has been a great club man since joining. Very unselfish and leaves no stone unturned in his preperation.  And it shows in the way he plays.  Pitty he wasn't able to hold his form at times at AFL level and cement a spot.

Not saying his days are over but the bar has been raised a little further with Smithy's return.

He is valuable, he is capable, he can be surprisingly good. His real asset is his 'blend' with other players; protective, a linkage player and a pack splitter making space for the crumbers that we always needed and now seem to have inbuilt into the team with roles and functions, responsibilities and super=enthusiasm. I doubt whether van den Berg will ever fully recover to play this role in the team, which will be a considerable shame. Bull may well fulfill this role in the near future, as well. However, we do have an in-form big bugger in Pedo, at present.

Interesting comments 13. I’ll be honest, I didn’t think Tim Smith would make it in the AFL although I never expressed my views. More than happy to be proven wrong if it means the club succeeds.

Simply a hypothetical, assuming T Mac and Jesse play another 5-6 years minimum at our club and Smith maintains his good form and manages to get close to the 100 game mark with a solid 3-4 years of football, my question is, where does Weideman fit into the equation?

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
