Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

i don't really get the springvale connection bit. the old springvale ground (actually in glen waverley) is a whopping 32km away. nowhere near casey.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casey_Demons

"In 2005, to attempt to financially secure its long-term future, the club came to an arrangement with the City of Casey, which had developed the new Casey Fields multi-sports complex in Cranbourne East and was seeking a VFL team to play there. The club moved its training and playing base to Casey Fields in 2006, and changed its name to the Casey Scorpions Football Club "

Springvale has been a club since 1903, and has a lot of history. They need to, and are going to, honour the clubs origins.

I dunno man. Check out the Facebook comments, all the old supporters are furious over the change. But I don't think any of them read the press release and saw what the club is doing to respect the heritage.

KC is that the same Dan Allsop who was nominated by the dees as a multicultural player?

The make-or-break experiment

An interesting article going back a few years by Peter Hanlon on St Kilda's failed gamble on 210cm tall basketball convert Blake McGrath who is now at Casey.

He's no stranger to the colours he'll be wearing in 2017 because he started his footy career at Pennant Hills who wear the Demons' strip.

And, at his height, he'll be able to look eye to eye with Max Gawn (although their paths are unlikely to cross on the football field).

Looks like Casey is going to have plenty of ruckmen, with the latest additions being Hanlon and Nyuon.

Still weird is the Development league, even amount of teams and yet there are byes. Perhaps the kiddies do TAFE every now and then !!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly! Seriously, how many old Springvale supporters are out there that still have amy affiliation with the acasey Scorpions/Demons ?? Not too many I wouldn't think! The sooner we bcome a stand alone Melbourne Demons reserves like old the happier I'll be! We owe Springvale Zilch and Casy Scorpions Zilch. Time to get ultra professional with the direction, image and stand alone entity that an "Official" MFC name creates!

What do you mean the club doesn't owe Springvale/Casey zilch?! Maybe if MFC went alone and made a solo VFL team the yes, but taking over a club with over 100 years of history doesn't mean you can just do whatever you want with them. And the Club has made it very clear it has a great relationship with Casey and respects the history of Springvale. Not only that but the Casey/Melb alignment has never worked so well and it's doing wonders for the eastern suburbs and young footy development.

Why on earth do they need a standalone team when the one they have now is working so god damn well? I'll never understand this argument.

Drunk   I think there are two sides like any coin.. Posiibly the inferences of DC and PF are that the current image/manifestation of Springvale is a bit like a shovel whose  handle's been replaced 3 times and blade twice....Still the same shovel eh ?  Well yes..in a fashion...and so it might be with the SFC. That said I for one would certainly hope the MFC give the SFC its due recognition.

I do agree 100% with you that theres no point  ( now ) in having a stand alone. We seem to have adapted/adopted  the Hawkers solution. I think that will work fine for us and Casey

Go Dees....all of us :)

Mebourne has signed a 30 year deal with the City of Casey. Casey had brought Springvale to Casey Fields to 1) bring a VFL team to the area to promote its ongoing football development in the region and 2) revive Springvale from fininacial trouble.

Melbourne therefore aligned with Casey to honour there deal with the City. Melbourne has since then lifted Casey to great heights in the VFL for its own development as well as for the good of the region. Now they have strengthened this partnership by renaming Casey from the Scorpions to the Demons, but they recognise the history in which Casey aka Springvale has come from.

It would be very rude of them to ignore this history and the Club recognises this, which is why they have made sure the Casey Demons will still honour the Scorpions.

Just because it is a VFA club doesn't make it any less special then an VFL/AFL club. In the history of the game, the VFA and VFL/AFL are extremely important in remember where the game came from.

So why wouldon't the MFC honour the clubs past?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
