Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Line development coach seems to be the entry point these days, like Brad Miller was doing (not sure who's in there this year).

A rookie senior coach with rookie line coaches scares the juice out of me.  Bailey had Josh Mahoney and Neeld had Leigh Brown, both players fresh out of the game held in high esteem for their demonstrated potential in coaching and mentoring, but were given far too much responsibility too early.  I'd hate to see Dawes go down the same path.

Going off topic now but I'm hopeful the (experienced) assistant coaches Roos brought with him - McPherson, Allison, Mathews etc all stay to work under Goodwin.

Its great that Dawes is showing some coaching ability, but why isn't he playing? Surely if he wants to play on next year, he should be playing for Casey now.

I agree that Goodwin needs to be surrounded by experienced assistants.

Achillies is stuffed.

?? It matters.

Actually, beyond a core level needed for efficiency, the main purpose of detailed grammar is to establish in-group/out-group boundaries.

Much of my career has been about writing 'unwieldy' scientific and data-driven reports and turning them into something coherent for anyone, while retaining formal language and precise meaning. Grammar matters to me, but the grammar tyrants who wander the world looking for people to tell off and look down on are frankly odious.

Most depressing part of that article was reading H has two years to run on his contract.

Mind you, I was depressed when I read in that same article, "Retiring coach Paul Roos said he was still confident he could return as a rebounding force for Melbourne." I was depressed because I suspect Roos might struggle to get a kick with the Goodwin gameplan.

Not if he retires.

I still think Lumumba can at least be a handy depth player who brings some experience to the younger brigade.  We can't get rid of all our older players.  We all know what happened the last time we did that.

He's on a far bigger conract than just being a depth player, that's what concerns me wise. His output nowhere near matches what he's paid. Chris Dawes all over again.

You're his manager? What's his contract worth?

But how you can you compare when you don't know what his contract is?

Also, contracts aren't retrospective.

He would be on at least 400k, if you think he is on less you have no idea, he has been a waste of money, just like Dawes

The average salary is over 300k.

When they were offered those contracts that's what was needed to be paid, unfortunately we don't have Marty McFly in charge of our list and we can't tell what's going to happen in the future.

Also, you literally have no idea what his contract is, so I hope you appreciate the irony in your comment.

Whatever he's on, he's overpaid, even if i don't know exactly what he's on. So Lumumba has been a good pickup has he Stuie ?

Dawes would be a good influence on the younger players, so if they offered him a performance based contract I think that would be a fair thing.

He knows where he's at, he knows he's not going to get a lot of games, but his influence at both the firsts and Casey shouldn't be underestimated.

Quality person, hard at it and pretty smart.

Yes there is the monetary aspect to this and that is a concern but for me the initial frustration is that all our bigger name recruits of recents years have been unable to take the field for different reasons. Clark, Dawes and now H, but that's footy....

It's been confirmed by Mahoney on the AFL website that Pedo will get another contract for next year and that Dawes won't be offered a new deal until the club has gauged the level of interest in market interest in him. Realistically there aren't too many clubs who's be interested in him, possibly Freo to add some structure to their forward line, but can't think of many other suitors at this stage.

Maybe Carlton? Someone will probably take him, sure sounds like his days are done if we can get another forward/ruck option in. Pedersen is just more reliable and there's not a great need to keep both of them if Weideman and Hulett are options.

I don't want to bash him because I think he's given his all, but his body just hasn't given him a chance at his talents dropped away.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
