Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Well I for one don't want to lose Chris?! If he just gets a full preseason in he'll get back to his premiership best!

MFC don't let this one slip!

Agree Cards, if the Dons are asking for an early 2nd rounder for Hibberd, Dawes is worth at least a mid 1st rounder.

Kudos to his manager.

Exactly.  Pump up his tyres.  On a massive pay cut and no promises, I'd keep him for in club leadership and experience.

i would say 'the future is in your hands, Chris'....but we know all about what happens to things that hit those hands....

Get what we can for Dawesy and move on.

Great bloke but clearly not in our plans for the future.

Tough call on him. I don't know if there's room for both Dawes and Pederson at the club next year with hopefully Weeds getting more games into him. For me I feel Pedders adds more when he comes in, and Watts has shown decent ability as a chop out ruck (although I'm not sure that's a good long term option).

Dawes frustrates me a lot, I would be comfortable with the club holding on to him but if it's a choice between him and Pedders I would choose Pedders. And of course I'd like it to be on our terms given the big 4 year deal we gave him to bring him over.

Dawes and pick 27 for Hibberd and third rnd pick  , remember they are currency to GCS and GWS !! ;)

All you Dawes bashers out there need to take a good hard look at yourself. The bloke has no obligation to reject what we offered him so judging him based on his high wage is plain unfair. If your boss offered you a ridiculous pay rise would you reject it because you didn't think you were worth it?

He has played the majority of his games at the dees on one leg and goes as hard as anyone, despite his conditioning. He is not the most talented player to grace the afl, yet after last weekends effort it should be clear why it is fairer to judge a player on effort rather than outcomes.

Tangambalanga?

Either Tangambalanga or Upper Cumbuckta West.  Both a good fit for Dawes I would think.

He is regarded as that by the younger players at the club, for his professionalism

Not just the players, coaches as well.

We need to be careful here. We don't have that many experienced players around the club, yet alone players with their heads screwed on and a premiership. Also, Weideman is not yet ready, and Pedersen isn't really a KPF.

For mine, keep Dawes on a short-term, performance-based contract, unless there's someone similar we can get in the off-season.

Brad Millar mark 2, and we saw what happened there.

I don't think anyone here's judging by pay, I'm judging him on his skills and his lack of output. If his body has been the problem, why just hope it'll come good now?

Sorry, but I don't see what previous premierships count for. It was the mindset the club had going into 2013 and we were lead straight into a hole

I don't like his chances of staying at the club and taking up a spot on the list. Hulett wasn't mentioned in that article and he's had a fair year in the Magoo's.

I wouldn't mind betting the Lions are in the hunt for a seasoned forward.

admittedly he is not the most skillful guy in the country, but with a full pre season, young list and susceptibility of some blokes to play like wet [censored] socks, what harm is there to offer a bloke with some ticker and finals experience a reduced deal for one year and see if he can get back to playing servicible footy.

I can defiantly see why we would let him go too, though don't you think a guy who left a recent premier, came to a basket case and gave his all throughout deserves a little more respect than sneering comments about playing in (insert [censored] country team here)?

yes watts has more upside and is a better player, but I'm defiantly more appreciative of dawesies 2013-15 than I am of jacks. If you could combine watts talent and durability with Dawes ability to consistently have a red hot crack we would have just about the best player in the league.

all I'm saying is get of your high horse and show the bloke some gratitude and respect.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
