Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I wonder how many clubs have won games, finals or premierships with players under the influence of illicit drugs?  Maybe even won premierships with players on one or two strikes.

The Wet Coke 20006 flag tainted? not in my book. In fact i reckon they deserve more kudos. After all still being able to win a flag after a decade long tear is quite some feat.

I would think their earlier flags are a bit dubious...

The early 90's was an interesting time in football and a player had to be counted very unlucky to be caught out with PE drugs in the system.

Maybe Hun scribe James Hird will finally start telling the truth?  About what happened at other clubs of course.

Slobbo

huh? he leaked it to himself?

the question is, who leaked it to the hun/slobbo? there have been known essendon supporters in the afl commission in recent years. there is a good story here and so far no-one seems to be pursuing it

The 90's were a blur for me also.

The drugs were plentiful .

I remember that much.

You probably could've taken those words from the AFL commish during the 90s Biff. There was plenty to go around then.

Ive noticed on the h/sun site they are detailing a story about Armstrong and misleading police about the details. Wasnt he going at with Robbo's sister at one stage? I remember at a b&f one night he told the story about letting Armer live with him and had no clue what was going on.

Also noticed Turd has written an article about r1 and how it feels as a coach. Yay cant wait to read that.

Gil comes out and says that the Gillard report cleared the club and recommended no action.

On 3AW... the Sun to report tomorrow that this was not the whole story.

Gillard was asked to report in 2007 whether the pre 2007 unbecoming conduct by the Eagles had been cleaned up. He was not asked to report on the pre 2007 conduct.

Gillard reported that yes what had happened pre 2007 was no longer happening.

Summary.... the Eagles were never reprimanded in any way for their pre 2007 misconduct.

Another cover up in 2007 but what is worse a spin on the real story..... When is the AFL going to get it that it needs to admit the faults of the past and only then can it move on.

As long as fans still watch the game The AFL doesn't have to do anything, and they know it.

Embarrassing. If it happened, own it and clean it up. It was 10 years ago and it appears no other club is like that.

But it happened.

The EFC win just proves how badly they tanked last year.  Their 2016 season and the #1 pick were a complete farce.

Worsfold had form!  In 2010 he tanked WCE to the bottom of the ladder collected the top draft pick then played the prelim final the next year!  Only difference is last year he had the AFL's blessing.

Didn't see much in the media after the game about Roughy's comeback!  Nauseating media coverage of last nights game!

Probably just like the Chinese swimming team is reported in China. But I wonder if they pretend to have the moral high ground when others cheat like we do.

I think  last nights win says more a about the hawk's then the drug users, the bummers are on a high at the moment, a bit like when they beat us last year, they will have a good half year but like always they will have  a bad second half seasons.

With the club refusing to provide documentation on what was injected it's impossible to know what long term benefits these players have gained. I find it completely unnaceptable they've been allowed to remain at the instigating club, and rather they should have been farmed out across the league via some kind of mini draft mechanism or the like. The so called 'top-ups' from last year should've been the new list and they rebuild from there. It's simply not good enough to allow that club to reap any potential benefits from blatant cheating. Let's hope The Verve got it right and the drugs don't work! With their track record, I'd also guarantee their little compensation payouts have tainted the salary cap, so yet another leg up for the poor victim club.

As for the commentary on last nights game, I don't think I've ever heard anything so sickening. The poor players who've been put through so much because of the drugs saga. It wasn't a [censored] saga, it was blatant cheating by means of an illegal PE drug injection program. They are not the victims, they are not heros, they are officially the cheats. The only reason it went on so long is because they tried to slow everything down and worm their way out one way or anoher. By contrast, have a look at the other club involved - the Cronulla Sharks. Cheated, take your medicine (pardon the pun) and move on.

i'm still waiting for any reporter to ask a hawthorn player "what did it feel like to play against former drug cheats?"

a question that would never be asked in this context but a question that was asked of aussie swimmers with respect to chinese swimmers

Everything is so disgustingly one-sided, it really is a disgrace to the league management and media. I'd go as far as to say it's the best thing that's ever happened to the EFC. They'll end up dominating the competition out of this. They know they're untouchable, they can lie, cheat, steal, do whatever it takes (cough cough) and they know it will all be positive.

[censored] off. If I didn't love my club I'd walk away. I don't know if it will happen but the other clubs should really get together and let Gil know all this [censored] needs to be toned down. He's obviously pulling the strings, with Ruperts help (or vice versa) and I'm sure other clubs supporters will have already walked away from their sport over this.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
