Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Haha, it wasn’t me, my mate was hoping the money was right. Unfortunately it didn’t put in a good run at all.

Yeah the horse never really got going DZ - jumped well and was ok early but didn't quicken at the 2 furlong mark.  There will be easier races against lesser rated horses for El Mag at this stage of the horses career.  It can still get in at a good weight in a BM70.

Back full circle to Sandown this week although the fields are not overly strong,  all things considered.  Still,  there are some good betting races to be had (Races 5,  7,  8 & 9 have an even spread of chances)

The 3 feature races at Ascot (WA) this Saturday holds some interest as well - building nicely to the 3 Group 1's coming up over the next month or so.  Pounamu won't be seen though which is a shame - in the paddock at the owners property (somewhere in NSW) after having a minor setback.  Trainer not happy.

Material Man will be back however after bypassing the Spring over here.

Full Card - Sandown Hillside Saturday 17th

Full Card - Ascot (WA) Saturday 17th

For something a little different here's Equestrian legend Andrew Hoy on 'After the Last' shown earlier tonight.  A fascinating character and a real high achiever - gives some great insights in the interview.

Sorry moving around a lot atm, didnt get a chance to put one in.

You didn't miss a great deal from my point of view Wadda ... did a lot of 2nd guessing today and therefore managed to miss with some obvious standouts such as Yogi,  Ringerdingding,  Cool Passion & The Taj Mahal.

Got a decent collect with 'Most Important' saluting in the Stakes race at Doomben but slim-pickings otherwise.  However,  I fancy my chances in the three Group 2 races at Sha Tin tomorrow ... here's the form.

Good luck at Sha Tin

Well I liked Ventura Storm in the Zipping Classic and it was DZ's best bet as well ... but as was the case with a number of horses that have been performing well recently,  a lot of them had come to the end of their preparations.  My choice (Into the Abyss) didn't run on either.

If only the horses could actually talk hey Wadda?  ? They generally don't show those signs until the moment it happens.  Still,  I've had a more than decent Spring Carnival and the attention now turns to Ascot (WA) ,  Sha Tin & the Doomben Summer features a number of races that holds a bit of appeal as well.

The Ballarat Cup is on next Saturday and that race is always a keenly contested affair.  No doubt targeted by DK Weir of course!  ?

The 'Donald Cup' delivers another win for DK Weir ... his 2nd stringer in 'Romancer' but that's no surprise.  I got lucky again but only because I know how much Weir sets his horses for these Country Cups.

His pattern is that he normally has 3 runners and at least 2 of them nearly always get into the first 3 or 4 across the line.  So you bet accordingly.

Watch out for the Ballarat & Kilmore Cups this upcoming weekend then follows the Wodonga Cup & Traralgon Cup the weekend after and then the Pakenham Cup in early December.

Ive heard DZ is a bit of a horse whisperer. We need to send him out to the Cups to go around the mounting yard and stables.

Yep Ballarat Cup is a good one, unfortunately not there this year. I think everyone will be all over the WEir runners, (pun intended) might pay to go early on a few, when the fields come out.

Big news out of Racing Victoria today ... the talk in the lead up to the $5Million race could rival what has happened with the Everest.  I reckon it's a fantastic initiative and will boost up the interest in our Autumn Carnival.

The race will rotate through Flemington,  Caulfield & Moonee Valley which means all 3 race clubs can invest into the race.  A top idea.  And Winx would be a real chance too as the QE Stakes is not run until April 13.  The $5Million All-Star mile is set for March 16.

Others in the running could include Shoals,  Alizee,  Grunt,  Kementari,  Hartnell,  D'argento,  Santa Ana Lane,  Happy Clapper,  Trapeze Artist,  The Autumn Sun etc etc

$5m All-Star Mile for Victoria (set for March 16 2019)

Quote

Racing fans will get the chance to help decide the field for the $5m All-Star Mile, to be run for the first time at Flemington next March.  The bulk of the field will be the most popular horses as voted by fans in an online poll.

Contested under weight-for-age conditions,  the top 10 horses with the highest votes will be selected with four wildcard entries to be decided by Racing Victoria by March 5, 2019 and the final field and barrier draw decided on March 12.

Well we might happen to snag one of the horses in the lottery ... 14 horses so 14 people who are lucky enough to have a horse running for them share in a prize pool of $500k.  Good dosh.

I'll be getting a few entries in but I've got a mate who is tinny when it comes to landing these sort of prizes ... I'll have to let him know although he might already know about it.

The Australian Cup has lost a bit of its lustre of late so the new race might reignite that race as well ... it's run the week before but it is a 2000m race so it attracts more of the staying types.

But the Mile race suits the types of horses we breed these days so it all makes sense to me at least.  I reckon a lot of the increased prizemoney should be directed at the 1200m to 1600m Group 1's anyway ... the Everest being a case in point.  Aussie races for Aussie horses & Aussie connections.

Yes i agree re The Australian Cup. Could be a good race, but they need to smarten it up.

Im not really sure what you mean by a lottery? Im also good at tinning things!

The voting is Australia-wide,  you have to register to vote and you get 1 vote only.  And that vote enables you a chance at having the horse you voted for to be running around for you.  Acting like the owner for the day.

The additional $500k prizemoney is to be shared amongst 14 fans who are lucky enough to a horse running for them.  Pays right down to 14th.

Wow, what a great idea! Get the fans involved. Perhaps we can extend this to the Demons when you get a player running around for you. You get to talk to him during the match and yell and scream why is nobody forward! You can also pay his match fees while your at it!!

Where do i sign up Macca!??

Ha ha ha!

The concept has certainly been a huge talking point over the last 2 days ... the whole thing kicks off sometime in January but the entry fee for any of the potential horses is a one-off $500 fee with no additional fees and all the money raised from the entry fees goes to charity.

They have obviously thought the whole thing through properly and a host of trainers,  jockeys & owners are fully endorsing the concept.

Ah i see, there's a catch. Well, what if you are actually a non profit charity such as A Day at the Races crew? Surely they can hand over a ticket in that instance?

I'm with you Wadda ... we need to put in a submission for the greater good.

And that 'greater good' is more of the folding stuff for the A Day at the Races crew.

Early doors sees DK Weir having 8 horses nominated for the Ballarat Cup

He made mention of 'Tradesman' too ... said his last run was pleasing (2 lengths off the winner and running on in the 1800m G3 Eclipse Stakes)

One for the exotics and a former best bet from the crew here.

As for the $1Million Railway Stakes to be held at Ascot (WA) on Saturday,  here is the field after the barrier draw.  Willie Pike is on the favourite 'Galaxy Star' but the race is a very open affair and therefore a good betting race.  Material Man is good odds as are a few others.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
