Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Perhaps we had better make a cut-off time Macca?  People often have to do things on a Sat arvo.

What about 12pm Sat in future?

Even 12pm is cutting it fine ... I often work on a Saturday and I often don't have time to access the internet.  Others would have similar issues including those who only read the thread but might like our tips.

The earlier the better works ... 12pm can easily become 1pm or 2pm.

I just reckon the earlier the better Wadda ... having time constraints on the internet is tricky at the best of times.

We'll see how we go next week ... I've got my own back up plan as you've seen above.

Ended up getting the first4 anyway so I might be better off flying solo!! ?

The Le Romain/Impending quinella was paying 9-2 ... and it was jumping out at us too.

And the trifecta paid ok all things considered.  a win is a win.  The First4 the same ... 2-4-6-6 worked again.

I reckon I have finally found a system that can work.

Yes i agree the earlier the better. The only thing with Sat morning is we get the scratchings which i think can cause chaos with trifectas

Ok sorry about the late pick, but i wanted to cover all bases. Its a 2 horse race between Andaz and Fifty Stars. Andaz is the better value and the quinella may in fact be the better bet. Good luck fellas.

Best Bets:

Doomben Race 5 No.3 Zousain $3.10

Randwick Race 6  No.3  Live and Free  $2.50

Sandown Race 9 No. Andaz $5.50

$42.62 for your dollar.

Well we got a 1st and two  2nds. Well done Macca. We still do ok really.

I must say i wanted to make that quinella with Andaz and Fifty Stars my Best Bet because i couldnt split them and there was nothing else in the race. Paid $5.50 I wasnt sure if that was flaunting the rules?! Easy to say in hindsight tho and PL big time. Well i took it anyway. :)

Andaz is a Black Booker. Will win its next race.

Interesting days racing ... have only watched the replays but the controversy with the track conditions at Doomben spoiled things a bit.  The highlights being the classic finishes in the Kingsford-Smith & the Qld Oaks.  Youngstar looks a horse of the future whilst Impending & Le Romain are 2 very classy racehorses.

And the 'A Day at the Races' crew landed a trifecta at last (albeit not a big one)

Moving on ... with the big overseas races I tend to go each-way on a horse in the Group 1's ... the pools for the exotics are way too small but each-way is an option for some value runners.  However,  I often tune in just to watch the best go around.

Might have a go at a 2-4-6-6  First4 in the Sha Tin Vase though.  Small field but some quite familiar horses are in the race.

Also,  I like Gustav Klimt each-way in 2000 Guineas,  Soliloquy each-way in 1000 Guineas and Pakistan Star/Exultant in an exacta in the Chater Cup at Sha Tin.

Tonight

The Curragh - Irish 2000 Guineas  1600m  $620k  Group 1  1.10am

Sunday

Sha Tin - The Sha Tin Vase 1200m  $500k  Group 3 4.00pm

Sha Tin - Standard Chartered Chater Cup  2400m  $2Million  Group 1  6.05pm

Sunday Night/Monday Morning

The Curragh - Irish Gold Cup  2100m  $470k  Group 1  11.25pm

The Curragh - Irish 1000 Guineas  1600m  $620k  Group 1  1.10am

Trifecta Strike Rate

2 from 7  < $48.90 >

Best Bet Strike Rate

55:  26 - 13 - 2

Australian Group and Listed Races

Just a heads up for next week whilst I'm here ... there are no G1 races next weekend but there are a few races that should be good betting races and thus,  might suit our trifecta/first4 combinations.

Specifically ...

I reckon anything goes with a best bet Wadda ... whatever takes your fancy.

For instance ... sometimes an each-way chance jumps out at you.  You just know that each-way chance is going to get into the finish but it may not win.

Ultimately we have the choice of sorting it all out as individuals to suit our betting strategy.

I'm swinging over to 2-4-6-6 First4's in smaller fields in sprint races just because that suits my style.  And so far, it's working.

So,  in essence,  I play around with our trifecta picks and always have a back-up plan if the tips come in late.

I like both the best bet and trifecta/first4 systems we have going.  It's always good to get input from elsewhere.

@Dee Zephyr  @Wadda We Sing  @binman

Picked out 3 possible trifecta races for Saturday ... take a look at your leisure fellas.

'Pounamu' is back after one trial and is up against a few decent types in the Belmont Sprint (Ascot WA)  Drawn the outside alley too - which could easily suit considering how the horse likes to swoop late.

I've marked the Belmont Sprint on top because the Sunshine Coast is currently rated as a Heavy10 and also,  I'm biased towards the Pounamu Race! ?

It's also worth noting that we've had success with the trifecta twice - once over the 1400m and the other over 1350m.

Ascot  Belmont Sprint  1400m  Group 3  150k

Sunshine Coast  PJ O'Shea Stakes  2200m  Group 2  200k

Sunshine Coast  Moreton Cup  1200m  Group 2  175K

In all seriousness the Belmont Sprint is the pick of the 3 races anyway ... it's a good betting race in terms of there being 3 or 4 genuine chances to win whilst another 3 or 4 could get into the placegetters or the First4.

Plus,  the race is on a couple of hours after the footy so it won't serve as a distraction and it could be a win/win/win for us (Demons win and we land the trifecta and the First4)

No prizes for guessing which horse I'm going to nominate either ?

Anyway,  we'll wait for a bit to see what BM & Wadda want to lean towards.

Haven't looked at the races but my preference would always be Ascot. As i have said before i'm wary of races held at tracks like Sunshine Coast. Ascot on the other hand is fair track that is always in great shape and all horses have their chance - even if they have not raced there before or often. Plus Darren Mcaulley is the best race caller in the county in my humble

By the by Macca i really like racenets form guide lay out. To be honest i don't like doing form online, partly out of habit t i suspect but key reason is i like to mark the form with a highlighter as i do it (things that appeal, horse i select) then mark the horses at the ned of the process i have selected in each race. Another big factor is i do my form on the train often (or out and about) and using the phone is pretty hopeless

I find each online form has its strengths but each misses something, for example official ratings - so i often look at multiple sites. I like racing.com's form, but they only have vic races. Punters.com is probably the best i have seen (and actully really good on the phone) till now but race.net is better.

Ha!  I play around with our picks in terms of maybe boxing the 5 in a trifecta and settling on a 33% - 50% payout and adding a horse of my own in a 2-4-6-6 First4 ($20 outlay delivers 30% - boosted)

But it depends on what horses we nominate and the depth of the winning chances .... I reckon the 3 - 5 - 5 is a good base to work from especially with the input from the 4 of us.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
