Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Really wow...haha good work! Yes well footy is pretty boring this time of year, so good on us.

So now im still not 100% sure. If i place a 4 leg multi on the TAB on say Thursday and come Saturday 1 leg is scratched, does that ticket pay out?

Yes, it will pay out if your remaining selections win. Not at the original odds though.

OK, yes i realize about the odds, its tricky though sometimes, you have to watch them (TAB). Although they can be good. I remember i lost a ticket once, quaddie over 2k win. They looked up the time i put it on and found it on the system, took a little while but i got paid in the end.

Wow, don't be losing those tickets Wadda, glad they came to the party though.

The only time they have been good to me is when I scanned a losing ticket just for the hell of it on the EBT one day and to my surpise it made that nice sound of " you have credit", it wasn't a huge amount but satisfying nonetheless.

I text our 3 picks (Eurack,  Bye See & Don't Give A Damn) out to a number of mates who love a bet.  One mate cleaned right up but he likes my trifecta's.  Another just did the Rosehill double (Bye See & Don't Give A Damn) because he didn't know how to put on a Racing multi.

I heard back from 2 who were kicking themselves whilst another 3 have been oddly quiet.  ha ha!

That'll learn 'em!

If you really want a day at the races the Bathhurst 12 hour starts at 0530 on 7 mate today.

Aussie young gun Chaz "  Mustart " is on pole position in a BMW.

Surprisingly the race goes for 12 hours , only interrupted by the 6pm news !

Sha Tin tomorrow for the Centenary Vase (race 3)  Only 7 runners but a very competitive race at first glance.  The prizemoney on offer up there never ceases to surprise - 500k for a Group 3!

Even a number of their handicaps have prize pools of 200k - 300k.  It's any wonder a number of Australian jockeys make camp there.

From the trainer: Ace High will go to the Hobartville stakes next then the Randwick Guineas and The Rosehill Guineas. We then decide whether to run him in the (Australian) Derby or the Queen Elizabeth Stakes there are a week apart so I don’t think we would run in both if Winks isn’t running in the Queen Elizabeth then we will target that but otherwise it will be the Derby.

Thanks Wadda.

It was a terrific return for Ace High I thought. I see he's in the 4th line of betting for the Chipping Norton at $26 behind Winx of course but from the above I'm not tempted to have an early go at those odds.

So, they dont want to race Winx without Bowman, who is currently suspended. Winx is out of the Apollo. Market closed atm.

I wish i had of thought more about that, because when Bowman got suspended i posted it here, and said watch the market. Ace High was still 26/1. Think it will come in considerably, however you may be able to still get good odds when the market reopens which wont be too long.

Winx won the Apollo last 2 years.

Ace High is 8/1 for The Rosehill Guineas March 17.

Ace High is 34/1 Randwick Guineas March 10th

Ace High is 18/1 Caulfield Cup. in from 25. October (will be 9/1 by the end of Autumn)

Horse is trained at Rosehill, so that is a definite. Trainer also stated after the Darby win, Ace High will be set for the Melbourne Cup. Ace High, currently 34/1 for the Cup, won the Darby by 2 lengths, so did Efficient. :)

Some good information on 'Ace High' there Wadda ... Winx looks like it will start its Autumn campaign with the Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) on March 3.

Meanwhile,  the final field for the C F Orr Stakes is up and it's a top-rate field assembled.  I can see at least 4 or 5 genuine chances so it will be some form of multiple trifecta for me.  For quaddie punters it's the 3rd leg I believe.  The whole meeting is a good one though with a Group 1,  three Group 2's & four Group 3's.

But I'll be looking at Warwick Farm for my best bet ... I've already picked out 3 or 4 genuine hopes and will finalise my pick tomorrow night or sometime on Friday.  As you and @Demon77 will know by now,  I prefer the Tri's in the Group races.

Here's a bit of info I've picked up about the often run 1400m races at Sha Tin ... they are nearly all truly run races and if a horse hasn't run in the 1:21's (or the low 1:22's) previously whilst carrying 55 - 59 kgs,  one can often rule those horses out from winning or even running a place.  Nearly all the winners in these 1400m affairs are won with fast times.  I picked up another Tri there last Sunday (in one of the later races) using the above information.

Nice one. I was wondering how you went? So there is a pattern of predictability to Sha Tin, thats interesting. Is that because its not on grass and there is no track or rail bias so to speak?

Bring on the group races !

I think that 8/1 for Ace High on the Rosehill Guineas is the Best Bet for next month.

Well they race on turf up there Wadda ... you might be thinking of Singapore maybe?  Looks like grass to me anyway

The 1400m races at Sha Tin are just pure sprint races from what I can see ... I don't see horses getting to the front and putting on the brakes but if that does ever happen the other horses just scoot on by.  The 1600m races are much the same although not always - times in the 1:33's or 1:34's are regular occurrences in the mile races (often carrying WFA type weight)

Anyway,  In that trifecta race (Race replay - Race 7 Sha Tin 04/02/18)  the odds on favourite won and I had the 3rd horse to win as well ... but it was the 2nd horse at big odds that boosted up the dividend.  Started at 35-1 but it had decent form and it's previous times were very good.  The commentator made mention of the 'slow pace up front' but they still ran 1:22.27!

And you're our 'Caulfield Correspondent' Wadda so we're expecting a decent 'Best Bet' from you with regards to Saturday's races!  There's got to be something that stands out.  I'll put my tip up directly.

Just looking at the Orr Stakes, I know Tosen Stardom is a great horse, but hes failed 4 times at 1400. Sure hes placed, but hes in barrier 14, carrying 59kg hardly favourite material is it? Surely his go is 1600 - 2000 and this is just a run?? I will have something on him i guess just so i dont kick myself. Might really have to wait until race day to see if something jumps out at me.

haha....Caulfield correspondent it is then. I may actually be going up to Randwick or Rosehill for a day at the races with my old punting mate. I may very well be Sydney correspondent as well.

My 'Best Bet' ...

Warwick Farm Race 7 No.2 Egyptian Symbol to win (current fixed odds 3.40)

It's last start was the 973k Magic Millions Sprint over 1200m where it ran 3rd to the very class 'Viddora'  (1:08.69)

Before that won well at Rosehill on a Heavy 8.  Meets this lot with SW + P's in a small field.  The jockey's record on the horse is good as well.

I might be tempted to look at the horses that are racing well now Wadda ... Tshahisti,  Thronum & Dollar for Dollar.  It's a tough race to find a winner though and I've got about 7 or 8 horses that I reckon can be in the finish.  I've got to find a way to reduce that number down to 5 or 6 and then get the right configuration for a trifecta.

The Weir Horse (Brave Smash) could be right in this as well as the top 3 (Hartnell,  Black Heart Bart & Tosen Stardom)  C F Orr Stakes

Lol Macca, I've only looked briefly at the Warwick Farm races and Egyptian Symbol is the one that stood out to me also.

I also like Brave Song in R6 but it's up against Kementari. Kementari's form was very good prior to its Coolmore run back in the spring.

Not sure if I want to declare Brave Song as my "Best" yet. I will do some more studying when I get home later.

Great minds D77 (or something like that)

Goodfella was taken out of the Expressway Stakes for the Eskimo Prince Stakes (Race 6 Warwick Farm) ... at 9-1 it's good each way odds (as long as there aren't any scratchings in the 8 horse field)

Interesting that both Goodfella & Egyptian Symbol both raced last time at the Magic Millions (and raced well) so they'll be freshened up.

I notice Goodfella is in Race 6.at WF. Thats on my list.

Im going to make Gailo Chop my best bet Caulfield R 4 No 1. Should brain this lot. Its not paying much, but a leg in a multi is what it is right there.

Another little horse i like and ive won on him before, is Smart Coupe. Caulfield R5 N6. Hes never missed a place in 5 starts and is paying 8.50. Last start 2 weeks ago at caulfield, 2nd over 1100 good barrier and has Williams on board.

Main race  is still to hard, i want to wait till raceday, see scratching etc. But ill put Thronum on top, followed by Brave Smash and Tosen Stardom.

I also notice there are many small fields Macca, just how you like it.

Another tough race ... @Demon77 2 on top (Brave Song & Kementari) are both in with a real chance.

And Gailo Chop is an excellent choice Wadda ... a real Group level performer (often at Group 1) As you intimated,  against this lot it matches up very well.

As for 'Smart Coupe' ... it's run some very good times carrying 55.   And the bloke who trains the horse (Ellerton) is a favourite trainer of an acquaintance who follows a lot of his horses.

Ok thanks Macca, we are starting to put some semblance of order together. I like both Brave Song  and Kementari, so yes thats a tough one. Box all 3 for a trifecta?

So far then, we have Egyptian Symbol and Gailo Chop. If we put together we get 6.93/1 Ill take that any day.

I mentioned here before that there are 3 potential 'Doubles' within the 3 pick multi ... It's kinda hedging the bet but if the 3 get up like it did last week you get the double 3 times as well.

That's how I'm going to approach the system ... depending on how much you lay on,  you can double or triple your total outlay with just a double getting up.  And if all 3 get up you've had a good day.

G'day punters. Sorry don't do mulits. Bookies love them for a reason. I use Winning Post for my form, have done for many years. Unfortunately it now comes out Friday morning (except in selected newsagents) meaning i have to do my form Friday night. It takes me a good 2-3 hours to from properly for both Melbourne and Sydney. I'll do my form tomorrow night/sat morning and post my best on Sat morning

No one is asking you to do multis? Goodaye Binman and welcome again to punters corner, glad you can join us and your astute input is always welcome to us mugs. We like to put our heads together and come up with selections we might use in any manner of different ways including Win and Place. Its just part of the fun, but we have no rules. And with @binman entering in with a best bet that will give us for 4 best bets ... I anticipated that happening so there's an option of four 3 pick multi's within the 4 pick multi.  Much like the 3 doubles within the 3 pick multi.  Again,  it's totally optional as is the compulsion to take out a multi at all.

The theory behind the concept is that if you look at enough of the different races properly,  one horse will eventually jump out at you (figuratively speaking of course!) The combined input is a way of combining all our standout best bets.

And because we're posting up a tip that others can benefit from,  you'll probably work harder at finding that one best bet.  You don't want to miss with a pick.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
