Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The 2016 Grand Final

I'm more excited for the fact that Melbourne had the previous coaches for both of the finalists. Roos set Sydney up and they have been strong for a decade. McCartney instilled a base that enabled Beveridge to come in and take them to finals in first year and  the grand final in second. Hopefully they've set Melbourne up so that we have sustained success, and allows Goodwin to take us to a grand final in 2018.

Getting to a GF for teams like MFC and the Bulldogs involves a lot of luck. We are a long way from finals success from a list perspective..... whether we then have the luck who knows.

Ask me again when we don't lose to a Carlton (first win in nine games) when we have a possible finals berth riding on the result.

Good Luck Dogs.... they will need it

Coaches Luke Beveridge and John Longmire do their best to ignore the object of the ambitions - the AFL cup.

If I was a swannies supporter I wouldn't be impressed having the dogs colours on both sides of the cup!!!

Surely it can't be a mistake...AFL letting its prejudices show, again?

Some goose decided we'll put both teams colours on both sides.

It was correct mate but not it's not still on, I had :

Coleman : Kennedy @ $2.75

RS : Oliver @ $10

Brownlow : Danger @ $9

Flag : Dogs @ $12.50

x $10 outlay = $30,937

Would of been nice.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing....

Next year I will take a few each way and mix it up. Need to have at least 3 options for the flag.

Geez you weren't all that far off mate. Good bet, and good plan for next year.

Want the doggies to win but think Sydney are just too good. As living in the west, worked at the dogs and have lots of mates support them it's the closest feeling I've had to being some what emotionally invested in a grand final game (was only 5 when I went to the 2000 GF)  Makes me crave for our boys to have success and I can't even begin to imagine what I'd be like when that day comes.

Dogs will keep the momentum rolling and win by 11 points with Bontempelli to kick the winner.

It was that bast*#d Bontempelli who kicked the winning goal against us at docklands in his first season, ba#%ard!

But I still hope the Doggies win it, but unfortunately I don't think they will.

Tipping the swans to win easily. The dogs sort of remind me of the Dee's in 2000. Having said that no one was going to beat Essendon that year.

Yes but the Swans won't smash the best young Doggies forward in the throat, early in the game, sending him off to hospital, or nearly paralyze the Doggies ruckman, when he is bending down trying to pick up the ball, with one of the hardest and dirtiest hits to the head, I have ever seen.

Continuing success story: the Swans after the 2016 grand final parade.

Someone must have realised the problem - this is the cup after the parade!

I shook Bontempelli's hand at school just before the draft. I said " Marcus, good luck in the draft and I hope you have a great career."   He said " Thank you sir " I will take substantial credit if he lifts the cup on Saturday afternoon.

Let me tell you, after supporting the Dees for all of my 48 years, there is no such thing as "when"

For us, it's still no more than hope.

I have quite a few Dogs supporting, close mates. The emotion they're showing is absolutely remarkable and completely absorbing.

Hard not to be a Son of the West tomorrow.

Go Doggies.

I had a vague recollection that he'd played for the MFC, wasn't sure if it was right though.  42 MFC games, 31 Footscray games and 45 St. Kilda games - a true journeyman.

On a totally unrelated note, how come whenever you type a footballer's name in to Google, the first suggested search is always "xxx yyy wife"? It's just sad that that search is so common that it's the first suggestion.  So, so many losers out there.

Maybe more of a concern that your first search into the Internet results in "xxx" and "wife."

Was all over the Dogs to go all the way before last weekend, but the ease of Swans dispatch of Geelong and the emotional rollercoaster of the Dogs last gasp over Giants points to a blowout today. Swans in a second half canter.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
