Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

With Goldstein potentially heading to WCE , does that then open the door for Vardy who apparently looked a shoe-in there until the Goldy twitter announcement - who I think would be a great 2nd/3rd option for us, without having to relinquish too much in return.

Vardy would be a great pick up for us, but hey, wouldn't Meth Coast look good in the middle with Mitchell and Goldy on board...

So not sure how this Rockliff deal can happen?

We give the pick 30 to Essendon + pick 66 or somthing for Hibberd. We keep our 2017 2nd

Yes but the trade per the rumour from the Brisbane Footy Boss and John Murphy is:

Dunn, Future 1st & Future 2nd > Rockliff, Pick 19

Am I correct in saying that is not possible?

I love all that WJ does woth this site, and I don't want to push the wrong buttons, but yes. I alluded to the references, WJ named them. I then tried to make a light hearted joke about it, as to be honest, my identity is hardly a secret naming it. That said, I can see why plenty of posters stop posting info. Some of the vitriol on here hasn't been ideal. Anyway what happens happens

This has zero to do with WJ and everything to do with you naming your source.

As soon as I read that you were the nephew of a Fitzroy great and current AFL captain I thought he's the nephew of John Murphy, or at least that was the declaration.

I then saw WJ's post and wondered why he sought clarification, because there was no other scenario.  There was no other choice other than John Murphy.

You outed yourself, which is fine, as it was your choice.

As for the veracity of your claims ?  I have no clue.  I hope they're correct.

What he's saying is that we'll trade our future first round pick, Dunn and pick 29 for Rockliff, pick 19 and a pick in the 30's

and then pass one of those picks on to the Bombers for Hibberd, so as far as i can tell the trade is possible though i'd have thought it was unlikely.

I strongly believe that pick 29 and Lynden Dunn would be enough to get Rockliff over the line,  but we'd have to take serious care with his "Attitude issues" and contractual expectations, we can't spend big on him, and clearly his expectations in this area are a big factor in why he's getting little-no interest from rivial clubs.

It just seems strange to me that Essendon would be OK with taking a mid 30's pick for Hibberd rather than our pick 29.

To me that only leaves trading pick 19 to Essendon for Hibberd, with maybe another pick coming back from their end?

You are right that is not possible... but the rumor posted is our 2017 first round, our 2016 second round (pick 29) and Dunn for Rockliff and 19 and a pick in the mid 30s that brisbane have not yet acquired.

To me i think that the AFL might step in and not allow brissy to trade their compo pick (19) so we might very well end up with their second round which is pick 21 which we could ontrade to the bummers for Hibberd  (possibly somthing coming back our way but I wouldnt be too fussed if we don't) or best case we manage to get Hibberd for our mid 30s pick..

So for us our trade period could look

Out 2017 first, pick 29, pick 66 & Dunn

In Rockliff, Lewis, Hibberd & pick 21 or mid 30s (depending on the hibberd trade)

That looks like an amazing result for us especially if our 2017 pick can be in the teens... and overall looks fair for all teams we trade with.

We could then go to the draft with our pick 21 or mid 30s or use it to aquire a tempory ruck forward.

I suspect we;d have to offer up something else as well, though i don't think this trade is very likely in the first place.

AFL have already stated there is no restriction on what Brie can do with pick 19 within the rules obviously

The problem is I think we may be going for too many of the type we already have. I'm sure they will nurse Oliver through another year. He's bound to have 2nd year blues like Gus and Hoges (to a lesser extent) did.

Team could look like this

B: Jetta - O.Mac - Hibberd

HB: Salem - T.Mac -  Hunt

C: Stretch - Lewis - Vince

HF: Kent - Hogan - Petracca

FF: Garlett - Weideman/Pederson - Watts

FOLL: Gawn - Jones - Viney

INT: Brayshaw - Frost - Tyson - Rockliff

EMG: Harmes - Bugg - Melksham

Really wanted to fit Melksham in the 22. Provides outside run. I'm sure he'll be in the team by round 1

Gaining Rockliff would also mean gaining pick 19. So who knows how this guy goes. If w can extract that pick, we must pick an outisde player who has great speed, run and carry and kicking skills

Would Ideally like to stick a backup ruckman who can kick goals in there at FF. Maybe Vardy or Nankervis

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
