Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL Trade News First @AFLTrade
Recent reports suggest Melbourne will offer Nick Dal Santo a contract which'll see him play for one season & then become an assistant coach.

I guess this means he should get his own thread. Given his great disposal and the fact he's still playing solid football and could play that Matthew Boyd type role, i have to say i'm for it. I think he suits our needs more then Scott Thompson.

Is that offer independent of Scott Thompson's offer? Would hate to miss out on Dal Santo because we had to wait a month for Adelaide to finish their finals campaign before Thompson says NO (which is probably more likely) and another club swoops. If we want him, get him!

I would assume the assistant coaching offer means they've had a long chat with him and feel he's capable of providing leadership and coaching IQ (I'd hope)

Was in St Kilda's leadership group throughout their 2009/2010 period, so i'd of thought so.

I get the impression we've been told Scott Thompson is a likely no, so we've sounded Nicky Dal out.

I'd prefer Boomer. Our midfield is very slow

Agree his pace would be an asset, however i think Dal Santo's kicking, combined with Hibberd & Salem should help with our quick ball movement which is just as important as pace.

Bigfooty / SEN seem to suggest thommo's playing 1 more year in Adelaide. Interesting how much the Crows fans bag him out, they're scathing!

He's basically a Brownlow medalist with his 28 votes in 2011, unfortunate that Dane Swan had such a huge year. I must admit, I've always loved hearing him on the Thursday and Sunday footy shows when he's been on so it will be great to hear him provide insight into his year at the club if he signs on.

Excited to see how he plays this Saturday night (And Thompson)

No problem with this offer

We have room for a top veteran that can give us one year and then a possible second. Happy for the club to determine who this player should be.

Not sure how the guaranteed coaching works with salary caps. Would like to hear more from others on this aspect. Sounds like a wonderful loophole for the richer clubs.

Credibility of "AFL Trade News First", please?  I'm guessing low, since I've never heard of it before.

I don't take any notice of these so called insider info pages on twitter or facebook. None are willing to put a name behind a story, just faceless internet pundits looking for attention.

Agree, in general.  Not that the big papers are much better, but with these types it's more important to be first than to be right.  Just a waste of time and data.

Dear deity why?????

Takes up a spot that gives us nothing, he has looked terrible at times this year andone more year along isnt going to help.

Look at GC, they built a team on youth with very little focus on leadership and experience.  Then look at GWS.   Not the only factors, but what Sheedy did was smart and actually unexpected.

The idea kids will fulfil their potential without that older generation is a very big question mark.

I am not sure if we need to import a mature player on a one year deal at this point in our develooment. Getting Daniel Cross was a work of genius. His work ethic and dependability have instilled a lot of good qualities in our younger players. Surely though, these qualities are strong enough in our leadership group now that a 1 year contract for Del Santo isn't a matter of urgency.

Given that, he is a beautiful kick, reads the play early (that is why it looks like he is an outside player) and has excellent leadership qualities. Maybe it is the assistant coaching angle that Goodwin sees as necessary.

Not sure if this rumour is true, but, if it is, I think it makes perfect sense.

I want to see us play finals next year, and we've repeatedly heard how young the side we've fielded each week has been, and how this has probably been the difference in certain games.

Has to be some short term room in our list for a quality player with a lot of experience right now.

Pretty confident GWS don't regret recruiting Stevie J.

Hope we land him.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
