Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Quite. But the poor barstad at the club who has to read this type of guff doesn't.

Well, when you put your thoughts up for everyone to read in the same format then we'll judge you but being a 'keyboard warrior' means not much chance of that happening.

I put my thoughts up every day on this forum and am very willing to engage on them and debate them with you.

As I said, definitely admire the passion!

Dear Melbourne Football Club,

After reflecting on the disaster that was the game against Carlton on the weekend, I want to share some of my thoughts and feelings with you regarding season 2016.

As a passionate member of the Demon Army, I was disgusted by the effort displayed by the team and coaches against the Blues that destroyed any chance of making finals for the first time in ten years.

Sure it was frustrating to see such a pitiful performance similar to the one against Essendon in Round Two and to see the lack of desire from a team that had dominated West Coast and beaten Brisbane, Hawthorn, and Port Adelaide in the space of four weeks.  Was the group getting ahead of themselves once again which is something that we as a club have been guilty of many times over the last number of years? If so, we had no right to based on performances that had delivered only, 2, 4, 7 and ten wins over the last four seasons. A little optimistic don’t you think?

I share most of the sentiments in the entirety of this letter - don't quite understand why it has attracted so many knockers.

Whilst I'm pretty shattered with the loss to Carlton and similarly lames ones to Essendon and St Kilda to an extent, if you look at the year on balance, to be actually fighting for a potential finals birth as late in the season as we were, is such a refreshing change from being the complete joke of the competition that we have been.  It actually feels good to have some credibility as a footy team back.  In addition to nearly making finals, the side has not really copped a belting all year and has been in most games until at least 3/4 time and almost all at half time, which is quite a turn around from just a few years ago.

I personally just hope that Goodwin and the team continue on this trajectory and that we can be a serious finals contender and player next year and beyond, rather than being a one or two season flash in the pan like Port.

Pretty Spot On really. Not my style of writing but that is personal.

I expected 12 wins this year so the loss to Carlton and Essendrug really made me angry

we should be playing finals, but we are not. The club now has talent, but still not the mental resolve or the steel attitude. But it's close.

The Carlton game makes no sense. But that's life...

2017 must be the year we make finals again.

Nowhere to hide. Trading will be so important.

Angry? Really? Maybe you need to take some time away from the game. Nothing about AFL or any sport should make anyone "angry". Disappointed? Yes. But "angry"? I don't think so. Keep your anger for more important things like domestic violence, child abuse and incompetent politicians.

Of course he can be angry. That's what being a passionate supporter allows him. That's what Demon fans have not shown enough of for a very long time. And leave your pet political items out of the debate. This forum is about footy.

One of the reasons I go to the footy is to be able to vent my frustrations. I'm not sure where or how Hawthorn supporters manage, but one of the great benefits of being a Melbourne supporter for the last 50+ years is that there have been consistent opportunities to do so.

I didn't see anyone write an open letter to the club after we kicked 16 goals in the second half against Gold Coast up there earlier in the season.

Fairs fair - sure I went to the game with my boy on the weekend and we were frustrated; but we've been to 7 games this year and that was the first one we dropped out of all the games we saw. Compared to sitting through the QB game a couple of years back when we kicked 3 for the game (and one of those was in the first minute), we've come along an absolute mile and I think it's not inappropriate to absorb the frustration of last weekend and look forward to an exciting 2017.

Everyone and myself included can and will sit back and analyze the game with ease, and yes some gameday tactics look bleedingly obvious however how are we to know what plans or non-negotiables have been put in place?

Roos has said that this group wants to learn and most times when come in from quarterbreak the players want to know how to fix the problems not go to plan B. The players and staff back themselves in. Against the saints we conceded easy goals out the back and watnot and could have at least tried to  shut them down but im sure the players wanted to stick to the game plan of the Diamond.

My point is we dont know what gets said between players and coaches on game day. I know its frustrating but tbh the club has been basically rebuilt from scratch with should be a blueprint for any club and we are so close to success and when it comes we will absolutely dominate the competition because of the mindset of our players and coaching department .

Open Letter to Self,

You went to Melbourne v Carlton, Melbourne v St Kilda (x2) and Melbourne v Essendon but chose not to go to Melbourne v Hawthorn, Melbourne v Suns and Melbourne v Richmond.

You bought your daughter a Jesse Hogan badge....to be continued. You taunted a Carlton supporter prior to last week's match and secretly held doubts about Brayshaw being any good.

Where are you at?

Yours sincerely,

RTG

To the o.p, you are nothing if not passionate about the club that we both support.

Personally, I would be embarrassed to send the club something like that, but at the same time, I am happy that we have supporters who care deeply about our team, and I say thanks for sharing your obviously heartfelt, if misguided post.

Many of us, including myself, get cranky when we cop a hiding, but if we take the time to understand where we are now, it's a sunny light we are heading towards.

Well done for taking the time, but you need to know that most people in power positions at the club will not read the words you type.

Chin up mate, and enjoy the ride that I can see coming.    Soon.....

Dear Biffen,

Stop letting women throw themselves at you,

and letting men want to be a poorer version of you.

Stop engaging and arguing with simpletons just because they follow your football team.

Stop being so incredibly good looking.

and charming.

Stop talking to yourself in the 3rd person

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
