Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nah. He's cooked. Questionable value. Lyons knows it.Fyffe knows it. Hard point in time.

Id give a Fredo showbag and a years nuggets for him; that only.

I reckon Freo knows more about his injury than they're letting on - if Fyfe is traded I'll assume he'll be injury prone throughout the remainder of the career.  High risk / High reward for anyone thinking of taking him on IMO.

I'll quibble over cost if it costs us Hogan. I believe we are already building a very very good midfield, obviously Fyfe would make it better but I don't want to lose the big forward we've already invested so much into for Fyfe.

Inquire but also think of the bigger picture.

Dangerfield, like Judd and Ablett before him, is wallpapering serious midfield deficiencies at his club. I'd prefer to go after a star in the making who will conceivably cost us less, ie Brad Crouch.

More than midfield deficiencies 'Adam'.

I think the Cats have real problems with defence if the ball is moved in fast.

Their key midfielders are downhill skiers and if they don't get on top the Cat's are toast.

...but to your point, I'm not so keen on the superstar signing either.

Find someone who compliments the list and grows with us, I think we have a few stars in the making on our list already.

something is up at Freo.

There was a few rumours floating around Perth earlier in the year about players being unhappy about favouritism. It seems like something has definitely changed the culture of the club. Fyfe and Sandilands are good, but they aren't that good that the rest of the team becomes completely incompetent.

Yes, it seems like there is a mutiny of sorts. With Ballantyne considering a transfer to any club even the arch enemy, Eagles it sounds serious.

Pavlich was probably the glue that held players together.  Lose him and the cracks start to appear.  Add Ross's (reported) iron fisted style and trouble brews.

Lyons is not a 'rebuild' coach, nor is he a developer of people (eg assistant coaches).  Many people think they will do a 'Phoenix' like the Eagles and Pies, instead they may be wallowing at the bottom of the ladder for a while.

Ross is talking up their new $100m sporting facility and cashed up sponsors but they don't mean much if players don't play for their coach.  Fyfe is pretty smart he may have just seen the writing on the wall!

Rumour is the reverse. Don't know how valid it is, but I've heard it from a few different places. Not necessarily him, but more his treatment versus the rest of the playing group.

Clearly the reason Sylvia didn't fire a shot at the Dockers.

To get FYFE over the line I suspect you'd need to offer him a vision of the club with him in some sort of leadership role immediately, but captaincy further down the line but no less than 3 years. I think any club offering him that would be a chance. St Kilda do not have the most immediate leader to replace Riewoldt and should offer him captaincy within 3 years or straight away in the style of the Chris Judd trade. I don't think it would breed discontent in the ranks if captaincy is what it takes to get him into the club. If I was Carlton, Richmond, Essendon or Nth Melb,  I'd do the same.

Melb is a tricky situation, this is probably why I think Fyfe will not come to Melbourne as there seems to be an unofficial plan in place for Viney to become a captain of the club for the rest of his career. I'm not disagreeing with Viney being captain, I'm just offering my viewpoint as to why Fyfe is not a good fit for the Dees. Though our club guernsey would be a pretty nice looking fit on him.

Since when does offering the captaincy have anything to do with Fyfe coming to Melbourne?

Fyfe will only come to Melbourne because he will see us as a genuine premiership contender and achieve great success in the next couple of years.

Has absolutely jack [censored] to do with the captaincy.

For all we know the Freo players dont rate his leadership at all.. So what that say really.

“Nat is clearly a very demanding leader at times and certainly knows what he wants. We love that about him. We really respect that,” Mundy said.

It's my personal opinion that Fyfe is the kind of player and person that would want to be the captain of a football club, it's well documented that He and Mundy were competing for it. Have you seen footage of him in the rooms and onfield? He's a very dominant presence. He's 24 now so I think within 3 years would be the timeframe for him. I'm not an insider, i'm just an outsider offering my opinion. No need to be so abrupt with the response Jack. As I said, Viney will be the captain for 7+ years i'd assume so I don't think Fyfe would come to Melb for that reason.

Other clubs will offer a leadership and captain role in the near future and that's why I think he will go there. There is more than ONE club offering potential premiership success. I'm not downplaying what we have to offer.

Think this makes good sense, and can understand why we'd baulk at guaranteeing him the captaincy.

So it was just reported here on 7 news break in Perf that St Kilda and Essendon are "considering making a play for Nat Fyfe."

Is it me or does anyone else get quite shitty when we are never mentioned as a club interested when it comes to big name players. Even with Hurley we hear bits here and there but nothing else.

I understand club maybe wants to keep a low profile but most of the time it ends up that we are never in the hunt with most of the big name players that get mentioned.

You'll always hear us chasing the Melkshams and the Hibberds but personally they dont excite me at all.

Probably because we don't put our name out there in public attached to a player unless we know for sure we'll get them. Just look at how embarrassing the Richmond situation was last year with Treloar.

We're trying to prevent having eggs on our face. Comparitively, this just makes St Kilda look desperate. They've said they're attached to Dangerfield, Hurley, Fyfe and countless others, and ended up with none of them. It actually just reflects poorly on their club and reiterates a perception that they aren't a destination club.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
