Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It wasn't the factor that lost us the game as credit where it's due Hawthorn won it .

However, the umpiring generally waxedf from curious to atrocious summed up poignantly by the Bernie report.

We really seem to cop it from  the maggots

This coming from a guy with 21 posts. Mate your opinion doesn't even matter.

and yes I was at the game and close enough to hear the slapping sound of Dawes hands on the ball

Dont normally get sucked into this stuff on here but you absolutely need to pull your head in.

You want to talk stats and number of posts, your ratio of posts to likes will do. On average less than half of your posts get a single like, so it seems your opinion doesnt hold the sway you think it does.

Much better than last week, however, really didn't play the smarts after Watts goal in Q3.

Great story on Trenners...however, they'll need to think through how to get pace back into him.

we also need to find a midfielder with pace...who can really burst the line.

Could Hunt go in to midfield with his pace??

Olisik and Adam; did you go to the game today?

Combined you you have over 10,000 posts but thinking maybe you only have time to post and not actually truely watch footy?

Everyone around us thought he was ordinary too. I go every week, mate. Sit down.

I don't know about anybody else, but I absolutely lost my [censored] when that [censored] #40 got that free right in front for an absolutely blatant duck, scores level 5 minutes into the last quarter.

That was the moment where I decided that ducking your head needs to be a free kick against. The issue is that he's ANOTHER first gamer - which means it's infiltrated the way kids play.

Take the ball off the player that ducks. If you choose to duck then you give the ball up. Simple and takes away the 'try your luck' mentality that is being coached into players that get tackled.

Chris Dawes cannot play again. His inability to take marks directly resulted in 4 goals that I counted. Absolute disgrace.

Utter garbage AF. He presented and at least broke even at every marking contest on an appalling day for marking forwards. There was not one marking opportunity he had that wasn't contested. He was physical and brought others into the game. The kind of hyperbole you spit is simply ridiculous.

Not just you mate. Small pocket of us went absolutely sick. Got told by the woman i stamptont of me to 'calm down' as  she patted my leg.

They must coach the umpires better. You could see them today hesitate on these calls i think after the furore during the week..but then they called it anyway. Afl must sort it out its becoming a real issue. Its the kids who are doing it too, they are clearly being coached. Sicily got 3 free kicks from it today.

Yes you are right the kids are doing it now with much tbe same result; even to the extent of push and shove melles breaking out as players get frustrated with the blatant cheating. Last week iI saw a kid get carried of the field when it all went wrong.  The AFL will lose players at this level if they dont stamp it out quickly

Im disappointed about the result but dawes trenners and VB will be better for the run.

Mate I was alive and well in the 70s and 80s and remember those years well. It all adds up on one another. Today just got to me.

Great to have another forward line option. Competes hard. We're a better team with him in.

Yes. We are a better team with Dawes' 10 disposals and 35 spilt marks

Game, set and match then.  A few fans at the game thought he was ordinary so that must seal the deal.

No, that was my opinion. And others around us. So let's not act like he had a good game, because he didn't.

And to say he broke even at every contest is a simplistic view of contested footy. He didn't get to enough contests. The main contests he got to were stationary contests, where the ball was kicked on his head. That makes it tough to mark, particularly in the wet.

I lost count of the number of times Gawn or Hogan looked up the line and Dawes was on the other wing. Now unless this was under instruction, it means Dawes wasn't where he should have been.

Why is it that Hogan or Pedersen rarely seem to have balls kicked on top of their heads the whole time? It's usually just Dawes. He doesn't cover the ground well enough. He chases hard and does his best, but that doesn't mean it's good enough.

Chunk was rushed and turned the ball over way too often.  Yes, he cracked in, but I think I counted 8 times his exit kicks from contests were either direct to opposition or provided no advantage.

Hogans bounce... Trac's handball when he should have kicked it.  Does my head in.

garlett had an absolute dog.  He did work hard and made multiple contests in the first quarter, but near goal he was useless.

we were dumb as a team coming out from half back.  The number of times we took a poor option and turned it straight back over drove me nuts.  Frost x 3.

that duck to get the free kick was a disgrace.  An absolute disgrace.

we made better contests, stopped them for most of the day taking marks inside 50 and worked so much harder than last week.

disappointed we didn't win, but the team is definitely one that is learning to play against the better teams, and is not far off matching it with them.

Apologies, I had a Basil and got the names wrong, I meant Mitchell and Lewis.

Those two in particular looked to take extra long to get up from each knock today.

Never said he had a good game, just arguing that he didn't have a bad one.  There are grey areas in between.

Sure, he could have clunked a few more marks, but having a few defenders hanging off you all day doesn't help.  Each time he was asked to give a good contest he did so, on some occasions locking the ball up when he was outnumbered.

Dawes had more touches than Hogan today as well, meaning he probably got to more contests than he did.  Let me make it clear that I'm not arguing that he had a good game, just that the knocks on him aren't necessarily warranted.

I love the skipper, but I do agree with this. There were a few hot handed handballs too that put his teammates under the pump.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
