Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

i don't see yesterdays performance as a disaster, we were outclassed by a better team

the next in line for me is clearly ANB, i'd also like to see us get some games into Oscar

so Out: Vince, Garland

In: ANB and Mcdonald

( I think Vince might get a week due to his poor record.)

My guess  is their will be 3 maybe more depending on the tribunal. The obvious ones are Garland for Dunn and Lumumba for either Hunt or Wagner. ANB in for Harmes or Bernie if he gets rubbed out. Grimes to replace Nev if he cops a week. Still not sold on Salem, has been average so far this season.

Surely Jetta doesn't get rubbed out for that?  it wasn't intentional, more of a reflex

with out backline in bits he would be a big out.  he is turning into one of our most important players

I am not sure that either will get rubbed out.

On the Vince - can't tell if it was head or shoulder - it certainly was more glancing than full on and sufficient impact ? Wouldn't have thought so..

Jetta was a push away that got high - a slapping motion.

Who knows how the MRP will adjudicate...

Speaking of slapping - who was it that slapped Jeffy Gartlett when he was on the mark  and then the umpire gave a 50 metres against us ? mystifying to say the least

Agreed, ridiculous to suggest dropping Hogan. To add to your stats, 5 of his marks were contested, the whole team had 8 in total He also had a team high 4 score assists!

Yes his shots at goal were poor, but dropping him is laughable actually!

Vince will go because of how it looked it think, any glance of the head and your gone (would be happily wrong though)

I agree jetta should get off, there wasnt much in it but we all know the MRP likes to kick a team when they are down.

Nothing in that slap on jeffy was a little love tap really. The mystifying thing was the kick before our guy marked it (stretch i think) then got tackled by a bloke not in the contest, no 50, then 3 seconds later they pay one the other way. While i dont think the bulldogs got any incorrect frees its the missed ones in 1 direction then the quick whistle in the other that bothers me. Little word what is it? Consistancy! maybe we should stick that in the umpire's change rooms for every game

There was nothing in the slap to Jeffy's but did you figure out what the 50m against was for ?

Dawes ? Couldnt be any worse than Pedo was yesterday. I dont think 5 changes will happen either unfortunately. Garland is finished, i didnt like the 3 year contract at the end of last season and i like it even less now, Poorest decision the list management team has made for a while.

Dawes has had only 2 games and is far from match fit, and he won't ruck so please give me a genuine relief ruck option.

After he got hit he stepped forward into the "protected area" was always 50 not a wrong decision, just a hot one given they had just let one go.

Playing the victim again. A common problem here.

So the MRP is going to make a decision based on who we are and whether we lost, are they?

We still lack leadership when we get into situations like yesterday...St Kilda, Essendon games for example.

Trengove is a leader and has far superior footy skills and nous than most on the list...he's fit, he's in form, he must come in this week.

He won't come in because we are happy to wait for him to ask to play....which it doesn't seem like he has.

he will continue in the seconds until he decides he feels like playing in the firsts.

If you watched his interview with Robbo you would know he wants to play now....the asking to play is more Roos smoke & mirrors, in other words BS...

Trengove is ready to go now.

Trengove is a smart player. We could use some smarter players out there at present. . Put him on the half back flank at ease him back into things. Could use someone in that part of the park that knows what theyre doing

Trenners off half back sounds good to me. We need someone like Easton Wood who can read the play, take a contested grab and repel attacks.  Trenners has a great footy brain, great skills and is a brilliant overhead mark...  assuming he has the confidence back in his foot and has been going for marks in the VFL

Perhaps this week is the return of #9.

I doubt there will be that many changes.  I very much doubt that Hunt, Wagner or Harmes will be dropped unless they are "managed".  We are trying to build a defence that understands the new game plan and understands each other.  Yesterday we played a better team that found us out and this week we come up against a team that allows us to continue the education in a less difficult environment.

If players are going to be dropped I think it will be the experienced players who are fringe.  Garland, Michie, Bugg and Pedersen perhaps.  I think that given Gawn looks exhaused it's quite possible Spencer comes in. For all Roos said Oscar McDonald was underdone I've seen him from Essendon on and he's looking good to me.

I'm also not sold on Bugg.  He's a bit of a flat track bully for mine and he struggles to produce good performances against good teams.  He is hard but he rarely hurts the opposition and often mucks it up. And being hard shouldn't get you in the team, it should be mandatory for his type of player.  I think he'll let you down (skill wise) when it matters and the last 20 seconds of the game against NM is an example.  The kick to Stretch wasn't difficult.

To some degree the FD need to decide what the footy team looks like going forward and keep to that team primarily.  Next year when we play I want Harmes, Hunt, Wagner, Petracca, Oliver, Gawn, Stretch, Hogan, Brayshaw, AVB and Salem to have as much experience as possible so they get some slack.  ANB and Trengove also need to be given a good run at it to see where they fit.

I've also seen Weideman and Hulett.  Neither are ready IMO but Hulett would be in front of the Weed for mine.

Also I'm a big fan of Jack Grimes but I just can't see the point of giving him games when his papers are so obviously marked. Dunn and Garland seem to be in the same boat and Garland's contract extension now looks wrong.

For all I want to win this year is really about next year.

Totally agree on Bugg. Hardness is putting your head over the ball and taking clean possession, not acts of provocation which Bugg is gaining a reputation. His disposal skills are the worst of any in the team, including T. Mac. ANB or Newton deserve a spot ahead of him.

I'd like to see one or both of Wagner and Hunt make way. Wags looks a bit fatigued and whilst Hunt's line breaking speed is a weapon, when he is getting 5 kicks in a match it only serves you so far. Honestly I'm not as sold on Hunt at this stage as others. He could be handy but far from a future best 22 lock.

The problem we currently have is the most replaceable players are mainly in the backline - Garland, Michie, Wagner - and the players running hot in the seconds are the likes of ANB and Newton. If Jetta is also suspended then the headache increases.

ANB will come in regardless, and the temptation to bring in Trengove when he seems ready is becoming stronger. His skills and decisonmaking would have an immediate impact on minimising costly turnovers. Sewing Machine Legs Lumumba if fit should come in. He's always a risk, but when he plays well he can be influential.

agree about the mismatch between probable outs and ins, which makes me think jack grimes might get a look in.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
