Ok, I know I'm going to cop abuse here. But for what it's worth please hear me out. 

Hogan to be looks to have decided in my view that he is leaving. And I dont agree with the overwhelming consensus that he is vital and integral to the team. Yes, I wouldnt be trading him if he chose Melbourne but clearly he was affected this year by homesickness/injury or bad form.

 I would suggest to the MFC to now be on the attack and bluff Hogan by addressing the AFL media to announce ALL AFL clubs will be considered in trading Hogan. Being proactive and both advising we want to trade him and all clubs will be coincided. Even if we finally agree with Fremantle, we will be in a better bargaining power than if we had two clubs competing. A first round pick (3?) and Fife (or happy alternatively very happy with another 1st pick - their next years - likely to be 1-2 which we use this year) . If we had 2 first round picks (3 &1-2) we could on trade these for Brust (Hawks, 2nd round pick), Balantine (our pick 3 for their pick 1 & 2nd round) and then use these for recruiting or drafting (Hibbert with our second round)

Arguably we could find a good CHF to replace hogan with perhaps a little more experience?

But Buddy and Dangerfield have shown the individual is less important to the team. And Ablett hasn't exactly been god at GC.

(2017 round): Pick 12-14, pick 40 + pick 60 + pick 80

Or how does this prospect sound, trade

Hogan (rec pick 3) which we trade for Rance (Richmond also want draft picks) and probobly a swap of picks

Fife or another 1st rounder for Brust for pick 16

pick 16 - Delidio & a late swapping of picks in our favor

Pick 37 + melbourne 2nd round for Balantine

Add: Deledio, Fife, Brust, Balentine, Rance

I beilieve melbounrne need to speed up the deveopment of the team with some experience and what are we really risking, a potentual star and 2 years of 1st and 2nd round picks for Rance, Deledio, Fife, Balentine, Brust?

How anyone can suggest that Hogan is not a vital and integral part to our team is incomprehensible. No need to go into his statistics and achievements as they have been discussed in neumerous posts, they are quite exceptional for a 21 year old key forward. 

IMHO I too think Hogan will leave the Dee's. I also believe we are better off trading him this year if he wishes I return home.

1). We will more than likely be in a stronger bargaining position re a trade. 

2). All the media will talk about next year is Jesse's contract. 

Also can't see Fyfe leaving the dockers and WCE will also be right in the mix for a trade if he decides to return home. 

Hoping against hope that he'll continue to ride the imament wave of success with the Dee's by signing a long term deal but me think that's looking more unlikely by the day.

Clearly, there's more than one way to win finals and maybe even a flag, but a quality key is still one of the first players I'd pick. 

With 18 teams and a diluted talent pool clubs have to adjust to perhaps not having one, but every club wants one and you're more likely to build a team that has 'sustained' success with one.

When we challenge for a flag and hopefully win one I want a sustained period of success and multiple flags.  A great key forward makes it more likely.

And remember, the games evolves and while you may be able to get away with not having one now it doesn't mean you will in 3 years.

...they can't get Lynch, Redpath is injured so they are bringing in Cloke.

I think Beveridge rates KPF's more than a few on here.

Agreed, we can and i'm sure have asked his management where his thinking is at, but if we want to trade Jesse we have to convince him to go.

His manager is just a WA agent of Stride sports management which is based in Melbourne. His residency has no influence on Hogan's decision.

Think your right on Jease's management having no influence on his decision. 

Also don't believe his decision will be influenced too much by $$. He will get paid quite well at Melbourne or another club. 

I think he is quite happy with the MFC and its future direction. 

Decision will be made on where he wants to live.

All I've been told is that Jesse has been given as much space as possible since end of season.  Club is not pushing Jesse hard however has given him time and space to think about his future and where that lies. The bloke I know does not have any idea if Jesse will decide to stay or go. He does not believe Jesse knows what he wants to do either at this point.  He has his opinion but it's just an opinion based on what he knows right now.

He's told me that Jesse will speak to relevant parties within the club shortly.  

Also told me that the club was super confident Jesse was going to a agree to a new deal quite some time ago. Then a back flip. Club was quite taken a back at the time.  Also told me his decision will be 95% based on where he wants to live and that the CBA stuff that was reported was rubbish.  Told me Jessse loves his team mates and likes Melbourne and that he is torn as reported.

Club is holding out on other player contracts at the moment because of this situation.

So what you've done is put all the news that's been reported on here, or in the media, in to one big post and claimed you've been 'told' about it?  Right.

And what player contracts are we holding out on?  All the players who are required for next year are under contract.  At most, they may be waiting on re-signing Dawes or Pedersen, but they hardly command big dollars that will impact on what we offer Jesse.

But we don't how many other irons in the fire we have out there.  Hopefully, we are after a couple of players for gaps we have in our line up.  If they are to come straight into our line up they will attract a decent pay packet I would think.

I don't mind anyone with inside info but Flamingo does look no different to what you mentioned. I still watch with interest whether his comment of Michael Barlow to the Dees does become a reality.
