Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The game has passed Viv.

He is too slow and not good enough by foot to carry his lack of pace.

I'm left wondering what the plan is behind this, unless one of our contested beasts is going to be a surprise out. Maybe Dom?

Not a Michie fan, very vanilla footballer, but would think he's been penciled in for Salem's role as he's played a bit of HB at Casey this year.

Surely Vince to HBF and Oliver into the midfield makes more sense.

His foot skills is alot better then most in the senior team. Go watch his kick to Brayshaw against the Roos last year.

Well done to skid, im a fan and he has obviously worked very hard to get picked. Hopefully now he puts on a good performance and keeps his spot.

Really? To me he has always seemed pretty good by foot and no doubt he has been working on it further.

From the Round 4 VFL review: "He had a really clear appetite for the contest and used the ball well. Viv’s really damaging when he gets his hands on the ball. I thought Viv was fantastic on the weekend."

A good thing about the Mitchie upgrade is the coaches honouring their comments that if players do what is asked of them (ie be coachable) and consistently perform at a high standard they will get a game.

It sets the example and incentive to all players trying to make the team.

Hope he has a terrific game!

Viv following a similar career path to Nev Jetta in that dropped from the senior list onto the rookie list and working his arse off knowing that it's his last chance. A lot of players get cut from the list altogether and have to fight back from the state leagues... much harder path as you are not under the eyes of the AFL coaches, just talent scouts.

Good luck to Viv, and I hope he makes the best of the opportunity. I thought it would be either Grimes or Viv that got the call up.

I reckon a few more changes this week to come yet, can't see Trenners coming in after the Roos comment (but I did like the fact we are giving him time to play good footy, Trenners knows it's his last contracted year so he has to perform at some point.) ANB could come in as rewards for good effort, maybe Stretch who had a good game last week too.

If the comments about TMac are true last weekend, I'd love for the coaches to drop him for not playing 'team footy' and possibly bring in OMac, but don't think they have the balls to do it.

More confident this week than I was last week. Our midfield I think can match theirs, set Viney to play head to head and beat Ablett ;) Keep a close eye on Lynch. Exploit their problems down back and most importantly gotta use the chance to sell ourselves on the footy field to one D Prestia. Give him no doubt as his preferred destination next year with a very solid performance!

To each his own I guess but I wonder if you have never watched him play? His foot skills and hand skills are excellent. Above 80% DE which is a lot higher than most of the wonderkind  lauded on the site. Read the Casey reviews written by the coach seems he disagrees with you as well.

FFS can the club please give this stupid cliche a rest.

Have heard it before every single game. Say the same thing before every game and it simply has no meaning.

Just go out and win.

Yes, but he didn't actually say HOW they were preparing for the Suns' best!  Maybe what he was really saying is that they are preparing themselves for another belting if the Suns play at their best...

I've just had a quick look back through Gold Coast's season so far:

Round 1: beat Essendon 121 - 60 at home.

Round 2: beat Fremantle 126 - 100 over there.

Round 3: beat Carlton 95 - 41 at home.

Round 4: lost to Brisbane at the Gabba 94 - 107.

Round 5: lost to North Melbourne at home 81 - 119.

Round 6: lost to Geelong at Cardinia 48 - 168.

A couple of easy wins early. Not sure what to make of them beating Freo. Then a loss to a mediocre Brisbane team, a fair beating by North and thrashed by Geelong. Very cruisy home schedule.

I was fairly sure we'd struggle against St Kilda because I couldn't see us sustaining the required intensity for four straight weeks. It sucks but we're still a young team and it's important to maintain perspective. We're pointing in the right direction and our young guys look like building blocks.

Consider this:

Age of Demons vs St Kilda:

23: Bugg, McDonald

22: Viney, Kent, Tyson, Kennedy, Frost

21: Hogan, Wagner, Hunt

20: Petracca, Harmes, Salem

That's not including Brayshaw (20), Oliver (18), Stretch (19), Vanders (24), Oscar (20), ANB (20) and Michie (24).

I'm feeling optimistic about this weekend. This is a very gettable game and our guys should be fired up after a lacklustre performance last week. This will be a momentum shifting game if we lose it. Drop a couple on the trot and we might fall back into old bad habits.

Looking forward to seeing more of future Melbourne Demon Dion Prestia.

To those who want ANB in the team, can I ask which midfielder you would drop for him? Viv has played at half back for Casey for a few weeks, so if he plays he comes in for Salem, where ANB i assume is competing for an inside midfield spot, and i can't see who he would replace there.

Interesting omissions. Dunn had a shocker and Frost has had his chances.

Garland played well last week from all reports. I hope they shut down Lynch.

Speed with Stretch, grunt with Oliver and Mitchie - not sure why he gets a go ahead of ANB. Any thoughts there?

In:  Oliver, Garland, Stretch, Michie.

Out:  Dunn, Frost (both omit), Lumumba, Salem (both concussion)

Obviously we are going for a little more run and spread as we have dropped two key talls and only brought in one to replace them.

Clearly ANB not on the radar at the minute.

Also likes playing as the forward Brayshaw was trying to be. But with Kent and Track, probably no room there either. Defenders starting to look like a weakness.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
