Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Round 6 game day thread....

- Im feeling nervous

- Saints want to win (because we don't...)

- Saints have been unlucky the past few weeks

- which team will turn up

Wow! you're raising negativity to a whole new level. How about we worry about this week before we start getting nervous about next week? We may be entering next week's game with a 3-2 win ratio. we might be coming off a 60 point thumping over the tiges. We might be seeing the debut of CP. Hogan and Watts might be celebrating a 12 goal haul between them. Who knows? Lots of variables to come into play before thinking about next week. Enjoy the present!

GO DEES!

I know it's ANZAC Day tomorrow but could posters please leave their personal conflicts off this site. They have been/will be deleted or censored if detected by the moderators.

The month of May promises to be an exciting one for the club. It would be a pity if some of you couldn't post here during that time.

Cheers

Why leave the puerile comments about Martin WJ   freedom of speech or selective censorship.

I was being sarcastic.

You didn't read my earlier post?

I've tipped us to win by 47.

Melbourne by 40 plus points. Do not under stand the $2.85 on offer from TAB.

The odds have nothing to do with who is the best side but where the money is being bet. Bookies figure out their initial spread and then adjust to the market, they are putting us at longer odds because there is much more money going on to the tigers from over optimistic supporters or other who think Melbourne will not make it 2 in a row.  they need to give good odds on the Dees to attract more money to offset potential losses, and lower the tigers odds to reduce their risk/payout on new bets should the tigers get up. Bookies aim to make money no matter who wins rather than backing one side. Backing one side or another is mugs game for us punters, not bookies. So I will happily back to dees to win tonight.

I'm not quite at that stage but I have often thought that I may have a heart attack at the football one day. I sincerely hope not but I checked my pulse last Sunday and it was 140bpm (usually sits at around 72).

My mothers cousin died at a Melbourne/ Carlton game back in the early 1960's and he was only 40 ,,,,,,,

Checking with the ticket sales outlets about tonight's game the GA allocation is exhausted, so sounds like a big crowd.

I am a MFC member for home games and am trying to bring my daughter, but the only tickets available are allocated seats, so if we buy one of these we can not sit together.

Does anyone have a suggestion how we can sit together while using my membership?

Despite our good form lately i still cannot get my confidence up.. I still worry about the Melbourne of old..

It's going to be a while before many of us develop that true confidence.

A win today might do it. Getting the consecutive wins monkey off our back might be the turning point my MFCSS-wired brain needs to genuinely believe.

This could be the most important game in the clubs recent history, they have an opportunity to take a step that will distance the MFC of 2016 from the MFC of the last 10 years or so and really add some weight to the claims that we're an improved side.

we have to win.

With the Giants looking like winning, the ladder (and the season?) looks like it will be bifurcated after this round between the genuine campaigners (12 points and above) and the pretenders (8 and below).  If ever our group had something to play for, it's tonight.  I'm sure it's on their minds and I'm confident they won't let us down.  Dees by 30+!!

Two in a row? I have a hard time believing we can do it. We're very young and have less to prove tonight than the Tiges.

Dees by 25 ?

Giants for mine take Gold Coast's spot in the 8 and that's probably the top 8 at the end of Round 23 IMO (North, Dogs, Geelong, Sydney, Hawthorn, West Coast, Adelaide, GWS).

Not sure any other club (GC, Melbourne, Port, Richmond, Fremantle, St Kilda) will keep it up long enough to make finals.

Regardless, would love for us to at least be considered as one of, say, 10-12 clubs who can make finals.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
