Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I didn't want Petracca selected this week, because I didn't think his fitness would be quite up to speed, but I'm aware of the talent that awaits and won't curb my enthusiasm.

You can please yourself,

I notice Petracca wasn't picked again.

You've got a great habit of being wrong on a regular basis picket.  It's quite a skill.

Yeah well, Happy to be highly opiniated, but I am rarely wrong! IMV If Petracca was right to go then he SHOULD have been picked! No If or buts, If he is as great as what we are all led to believe then he demaded to be picked. The club are letting him and the supporters down by not picking the best side possible. Again if he was right to go then on form and on balance he should play! So I beleive I am right, and the club is wrong! Take it or leave it!

You're wrong.  Again.

And I'll leave it.

If Petracca was right to go, then he would be picked.  Clearly he is on the cusp but also behind Vince and Garlett, who are automatic inclusions with runs on the board.  Happy to make him wait and want it even more.

No you don't get it, If he wasn't right to go then he would not have even made the emergency list! Imagine if 3 players pulled out tommorrow then he would have to play being one of the emergencies. Which means that as such he IS right to go! Get it!

Roos stated that the plan was for Petracca to play four games in the VFL before making his debut.

The only reason he was named this week was if Garlett didn't get up.

You should be happy the club doesn't rush in players and sticks to the plan. I'm glad the club no longer panders to supporters and debuts players too early in an attempt to sign a few extra members.

Being named an emergency was to tell him he was close but not quite ready. Have you not paid any attention to how Roos does things?

He won't be designated emergency, he will play VFL tonight.

Does anyone have an idea of the Anzac Eve pre game formalities, I can see nothing on the MFC site. Would like to know what time to get there to ensure I catch all the ceremonies, it was quite well done last year.

Backtrack? Righto. You had to bring up a B level rookie to try and prove your point. Doesn't look all that flash for Michie.

are you serious? here is your exact post

" Every midfielder, flanker or pocket player on our list would be ahead of him right now. "

I posted a player who he is clearly ahead of at the moment, you brought up that he's still behind him because he is on the rookie list (I thought we were talking about form) so I brought up another rookie.

Michie has been in good form, is solid at a lot of areas of his game, but doesn't seem to excel at any of them. I doubt he'll make it on the list next year, but to state that every mid flanker and pocket player is ahead is incorrect.

Best of luck to him and seems to keep pressure on others in the team with consistent performances for Casey. Even Terlich is managing this at the moment. It's nice to see.

The hardest conversation with a player is when he has played a role in the team and played it well and you are trying to tell him, despite all that, they are being dropped out of the team.

It's easy to justify when it is a senior player like Vince or an important player to your structure like Garlett, but when it is a first gamer - that player will look at you like you a confused puppy.

And I get the 'he is no ordinary player' argument but footy teams don't function so neatly. You have to be sure he has earned it, that the team will largely accept the change, and that he does the job.

This is partly why our culture disintegrated under Bailey - players were given games on potential and reputation and it can be disruptive if it fails.

Can't believe Dees are out to $2.40 head-to-head for the game. That seems odd to me.

I think the return of Deledio has a bit to do with it, plus I don't think punters are confident enough to back us just yet.

Works fine for us though, as we don't go in as favourites!

Hell, us MFC supporters aren't confident enough yet, so it's not surprising the general football populace takes our form with a grain of salt.

There's been a lot of talk this week about not having won back-to-back games since 2011, I'm sure that's in many people's minds. Plus Richmond's past two games, though awful, were against Adelaide and West Coast, so I think some people are prepared to give them some benefit of the doubt whilst no one ever gives Melbourne any benefit of any doubt.

The bookies don't fancy us.  They don't think we can back up good performances.  Recent history says they are spot on.  Have the last laugh by placing a bet and doubling your money!!!

I don't gamble and know little about it, but I had assumed bookies don't adjust the odds on what they perceive as form (except perhaps when they first announce odds). Don't they just see what the punters are betting on and adjust the odds so that they are likely to make money no matter who wins?  Or is it a mixture of the two?

+15.5 is $3.70 and 20-39 is $6.75. Might have to have a wee wager of $10 on those.

the tipsters in the hun picked mfc by a difference of 3 tipsters and the public tipping was about 55% for us

betting odds probably just reflect the feral's larger number of supporters/gamblers rather than betting co. mgmt

Better for any Dees supporter that wants to have a punt, in any case.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
