Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Geez, because there's just so much positivity to discuss after our stunning upset defeat last week, isn't there?

It's a discussion forum where people can express themselves however they like. If you don't like it, leave!

It wasn't an upset to me half way through the first quarter, I could tell we hadn't turned up, not sure which bit some supporters don't get about modern footy, the good teams turn up week in week out, that is the difference, not the skills, fitness etc.....it's intent

You told him he should stop posting if he didn't like it.  That's the very definition of telling someone that they aren't entitled to their opinion because you believe he is whinging.  What he posted was his opinion and, last time I checked, it's not your job to tell him that he shouldn't post because of it.

You're the very definition of a hypocritical poster.

You are doing exactly the same champ, suggest it is getting dark, turn off the lights and have a good lie down.....either that or discuss footy

The problem with last week is how predictable it was that we wouldn't turn up to that game. So many posters called it months before the season even started; to see it unfold so inevitably in reality was like watching a car crash in slow-motion.

After Port's breathless win last night, I think it's perfectly understandable for Dees supporters to be feeling doubly filthy about last week's game and express themselves as such.

Its a forum, you know, for discussion?

I'll be sure to run by any topics I may want to discuss with you in the future. Or you could ignore it and move on. Either or.

Hey DSP - you're welcome to your opinion any time you like mate.  This is a discussion forum after all.  Don't worry about the hypocrites.

Port's skills last night were awful, Essendon's worse, Port just battered their way through to a win

That is why we are not a good team yet, I had hoped after the GWS win it might change, but not quite

Well if today's anything to go by (and the last two rounds, really), Collingwood and Richmond are simply garbage re-heated.

Two opportunities for a win in the foreseeable future. Let's just hope we've re-built some momentum by Anzac Eve, because it sure as hell came crashing to the ground last week.

I'm not saying we just need to turn up for a win, don't put words in my mouth.

Essendon was an opportunity for a win we let slip, badly. Richmond and Collingwood are opportunities for a win that we sure as hell better convert. But even the worst team in the league will defeat us if we don't turn up, as has been proved time and time again for the best part of a decade.

You can get your point across, but if you are not really interested anymore why bother, what is the point in bemoaning something that you don't care about, makes it more about you than the footy club..............when I arrived in Australia many years ago was told there wasn't a class system to worry about, you seem to contradict that notion

you have that notion (class)  as you are a recent arrival Saty.  so it comes to who told you.

In the 50 - 60's there wasn't a real class system.  but since inflation crept in & investing became a way of life amongst Aussies,  including the stockmarket,  & since family homes have since been flung onto the investment bonfire,  with the new attitudes of getting ahead (ahead of whom) competing against other families has become common place,  fences have gone from 5 foot high to up around over 2 mtrs high,  to shut out your friendly neighbors.  So I guess there can't be a class system,  can there.

Keep those feral Tigers & Pies outer, here.

No,  in the old days we all rubbed shoulders at the footy,  in the rain.   With banter cheek, good cheer & laughter.

Collingwood and Richmond are both average sides, at best. Collingwood is a Richmond choke away from being 0-3 and has looked awful for large parts of all three games. Richmond aren't too much better.

I'd love to see some fight and spirit from us tomorrow to show that, even if we don't win, we have a genuine chance of getting ourselves to 3-2 by the end of Round 5.

On the radio over here they described him as a passenger. Fair to say not much has changed.

Pendles was being tackled from behind, then blatantly ducked/nudged his head against the laws of physics straight into the tackler's arm. Umpire immediately paid a free kick to him 40m out directly in front of Pies' goal.

Saints player cracked it, dumbass umpire looked at replay and goes, "yeah, he probably ducked, but it's a free kick."

I was listening to the radio at the time and Luke Ball I think it was said that Pendles practices this at training. He said it was a legitimate tactic....

Just as well we're not playing 'Sat'...I would hope a professional football team don't think like this.

In the early days i didn't got to Vic park.  As I was the only Melbourne supporter around my way.

But around '77,  I started going to the footy every week with 2 St-Kilda supporting mates,  watching the Saints.   I loved it when Melbourne played the Sainters,  & Robbie would cut them new ones,  & turn them inside out.

Melbourne Wins were few,  & very frustrating watching year after year of,  I don't know what.

But with my Sainter mates,  I got to study all teams & learn what the differences were,  as i didn't have to focus on my team.  Except maybe twice a year.

Amazing what you observe & learn about clubs,  when you aren't overly involved in your own teams issues,  whilst at footy grounds.

So,  Vic Park,  didn't get they're many times.  but remember like yesterday being there with my Sainter mates,  & Don Disher was dealing it out to the Pie players.

On one run,  he ran from the outer back flank where we were,  toward the centre & then to CHF,  dropping about 5 magpies along the route.

It was one of the funniest things I've seen in all my times watching footy.  And did the pies supporters squeal & chortle.... whining all the way.

Pies players were treading carefully that day.

In the seventies some family friends who were Collingwood members used to take me to Victoria Park for a few years when we played there. Unusual for a Melbourne supporter I got to sit in the members about 15 rows behind the Johnston St goals. They were a better class of supporter there but I kept quiet of course.  There was no way my parents would let me go there on my own to watch from the general admissions area.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
