Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I do love that photo 13 Flags and also the bloke who had 100's pinned to his jacket (was never sure why the "authorities" turfed him out)

The way though GWS midfield is shaping up Scully will soon be earning $50,000 a game in the NEAFL. There is no way he is playing for them on GF day 2018.

Pointless speculation. Lets focus on beating them this week, rather than in 5 years.

Isn't this board all about that?

Pretty much, but not usually directed toward events that may or may not be half a decade away.

Roos seems to be putting pressure on the group to perform. Looks like there is a harder edge this season with no tolerance of under- performing. Will be interesting to see how it translates on the field.

Prefer to be in the place now where Roos is happy to go with these sort of predictions that apply pressure to the group rather than the excuses (although valid to a point) which we have heard for a long time now which gave the group an out if/when they didn't perform.

Absolutely. Very shrewd i reckon. Best way to banish talk of the past is to focus on a positive future. Fits with the winning focused messages that have been coming from everyone at the dees (PJ, coaches, players, footy department staff etc) all pre season.

Given the FD experience we have at the club compared to during the periods of false dawns of history, I'm fairly optimistic that Roos would come out an say such a thing. Between himself, McCartney, Goodwin, Rawlings and at the next level having Jackson spruiking that "we will be successful," I think it's a great show of faith the coaches have in the current playing group and club in general.

it really does seem like a co-ordinated positive PR exercise.  with the main aim of getting the players to believe.  I think belief would obviously be lacking in the team and perhaps Roos and PJ have identifed this and think some media stuff might help.

"Hey if Roosy is putting his rep on the line saying this stuff - maybe we really could play in a GF"

its partly the reason clubs like WC are only ever down for a couple of seasons

Will also be interesting to see how it translates at the selection table.

A bit of that. A bit of he'll be gone by that time anyway. And a lot of let's get some bums on seats for round 1 and get the players making this a rivalry.

No idea of we will win on Saturday, but I bet there will be some fierceness at the contest.

Maybe that's partly his intention. Framing it in such a way that allows the players to focus on the opposition with a determination to see for themselves to see where they're at.

Someone should bump this thread in five years when we actually do make the grand final and are playing against the Giants. Then we can all look back and laugh.

Melb: Hogan Viney Brayshaw Oliver  Salem Petracca

GC: Lynch   Prestia O'Meara        Swallow Martin Kolodjashnij

GWS: Cameron Shiel Smith Coniglio  Kelly Hopper

It's an interesting exercise, but I'm not sure why the best six youngsters at WB and Pies have not been considered.

And that GWS six excludes some incredibly big names - Patton, Whitfield and Steele - are just the tip of the iceberg in a squad that runs about 12-deep of gun U23s.

GC is already in big trouble  because Prestia and O'M are leaving and Swallow is a cripple - so it's hard to see them surviving much longer - Hobart awaits.

WB has the best top six of all IMO - Liberatore, Wallis, Stringer, The Bon, Hunter and Macrae. They are mostly one-year older as well.

The Pies have been promoting their version as well but I see them fourth behind us, although they have more depth of bigs - Treloar, DeGoey, Adams, Moore, Aish, Witts.

We can match the Pies and Dogs for depth of youngsters, but sorry GWS is a deep, deep pool - we need a few more to splash out of there next season.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
