Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pissing in a cup is bad, but if half your team are rubbed out for drug cheating then you can hand pick replacements and if you finish last pick 1 is coming your way.

Geeezus.

They make an example of the soft targets.

Then look the other way when a drug cheat takes a paying gig  to support his clubs' sponsor.

Typical Collingwood..... Their cup runneth over !!

Hopefully the only cup they will get their hands on.

Bit seriously, if this is worthy of AFL investigation, whilst they pander to drug cheats, then it is becoming a code hardly worth supporting.

In the HUN today they say ( from AFL ) that the Pie Man got paid $1.7 million last year.

For that we got the price of Pies down and sympathy for the EFC drug cheats.

Hardly seems value for money.

Maybe his salary should be linked to fan satisfaction instead of revenue.

Nah, the AFL is a business. Who cares about the fans.

Moar Money!

Have the AFL's chickens come home to roost!!

It seems Eddie is on a collision course with the AFL!

AFL season 2016: Magpies feud with league threatening to boil over

There are some valid points in Caro's article.  The AFL, specifically Gil may be out of his depth...maybe his suave, urbane, softly, softly approach is just not enough any more.

Caro's closing line:  "The strong message drifting out of the Westpac Centre right now is that, as the AFL seeks backing from its clubs while seeking to restructure a competition which boasts only eight profitable teams, it cannot bank on Collingwood's support".

But Eddie being Eddie will find a way to get a good deal for Collingwood, in return for their 'backing'. Damn the rest!

You could buy a lot of pies for that money, even at the 2014 prices ... :)

Yes, it certainly has some legs.

Bearing in mind that this is the off season and as soon as a footy is kicked in anger all (most) attention will be on that.

But this is the damage that EFC have done to the game. This is bringing the game into disrepute. When even followers of the game are disgusted and offended.

While EFC supporters are grappling with their 5 stages of grief, the rest of us are grappling with the 12 stages of disgust and offence. Stage 3, posting to the internet, is the longest stage.

Transpose the word "stage" to "shade" and we have quite a few to go and it might get better!!!

Can't see nothing wrong with pissing in a cup. I wouldn't mind seeing our whole team filling up the 2016 premiership cup.

We used to be told if we could pee over the railway line we would get a free pot after the game!

http://www.theroar.com.au/2016/03/07/just-can-afl-play-straight/ The article discusses the AFL's ducking the Watson and Brownlow issue and Caroline Wilson's related commentary.

Some strong words in that article:

-For the supposed “leaders” of the leaking organisation, it’s reprehensible weasel-work. Too afraid to take a strong stance publicly, they instead hide behind journalists to say things without really saying them.

-The continued lack of leadership is incredible. That those holding supposedly the most prestigious positions – those charged with running the game – should continue to behave this way is mind-boggling.

-Is being a Commissioner only about attending the odd meeting and shaking hands with politicians? Unfortunately, aren’t they sometimes required to make difficult decisions? To – wait for it – lead?

-Is it too much to ask the AFL to play a straight bat, just for once? No manipulation, no managing of outcomes, no buck-passing?

I had a second look at the writer and it is not someone I recognise.  I was bemused at their description of his status:  A Roar Rookie!  After that article I doubt he will be invited to break bread with anyone at the AFL any time soon.

if they AFL allows jobe to keep his Brownlow it's taking the stance publicly that drugs in sport are okay, and disrespecting everyone else who played that year and didn't cheat.

they have no choice but to strip it or watch the code lose respect and go down the toilet

An interesting assessment of the state of AFL 'leadership    Cant say I agree  Jab should retain his Charlie but the rest of the commentary was well aimed.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
