Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The one thing this last trade and draft period confirmed is that this club is no longer amateur and ad hoc in its decision making. It is super deliberate and has a clear strategy that it now actually seems able to execute.

If we are still after Prestia, and if we have been for quite some time, I expect the club has devised a plan/proposal to attempt to secure him. If not, perhaps we have not been that into him (too exy in terms of cash or draft picks etc), despite the media reports.

agree

I can't help but wonder if there were any discussions with GC during this year's trading of picks about setting up potential deals for Prestia next year. They already have our first pick in next year's draft.

I think so to.

This will be a massive lose for GC.

Will the AFL allow this to happen to their baby?

not so much, necessarily.   I'm of the opinion that the AFL are hands on via Eade,  & know what their issues are 'culture wise',,,  the mistakes they made,  &  that IMO they need fresh blood, young players in-effected by the existing culture of party-time...  I expect more GCS players to go in 2016.

so IMO the existing leaders need to be shed,,,  so the current crop of required players still there, carry no favour from new leaders.

I think Gablettjnr stays for marketing reasons.

So i expect the suns will be looking to mature leadership players next pre-season.   I wonder what Jobe will be doing next?

Demon supporters wouldn't like it if there are rumours about our young players going to another club next year or the year after. What is wrong with young people who get picked up by interstate club with the view of pissing off when their cotract is up? Perhaps they miss their mummies!!!!. Going to another club doesn't always guarantee them getting a game and with more young talent available each year compitition for spots become more difficult. Milking clubs like GWS,GOLD COAST and BRISBANE will not produce a truly national comp,Rugby will be the biggest winner. Someone said that GWS still have a lot of good talent, this may be so however injuries to key players will hurt them dearly.

I doubt and hope that the MFC would not be considering this when deciding which players to target. That is the AFL's problem to solve, not ours.

I think that is why the academies are vital. There is a lot of undiscovered talent in rural NSW and QLD. As much as it can be a disadvantage to have Vic draftees return home after their contract is up - there is also an opportunity for interstate clubs to develop their own talent through the academy system. But regardless, the emphasis for AFL clubs should be to get their environment rights, making their club a desired destination to play football at. PJ spoke of this in his early days at the club.

Part of the reasoning behind academy selections is the incentive for rural NSW and QLD players to participate in the sport. Without the academies, these players would be going to NRL, or no where at all. For the capacity of NSW, there should be more talent coming out of that state, if the academies can help that - then good. This isn't about what favors one side over another (with academies) - it is about what is best for the AFL as a whole. It is best if we can get more talent flowing in NSW/QLD.

The club is all over Prestia and is quietly confident. The fact we traded out next seasons 1st round pick is of little consequence. We can trade 2017 first round for a start.  If Prestia says he wants to be traded to Melbourne, he will be a Dee in 2017.  Our performance this season is very important for Prestia and perhaps Hogan, but I also hear that contract negotiations for Hogan are going very well and he could be signed to a mega deal before round 1. Fingers crossed!!

My mail is GC or Demons it's a two horse race like paddy and his mum is desperate for him to come home

What's best for the AFL is not having 45 year old men sitting at the G with there kids that have never tasted flag glory , you can spin it however you please but apart from freo and the 2 new plastic clubs there supporters have tasted what we havnt I travel most weeks from tooradin with my 4 kids to the G yeah it's expensive but we love it and we deserve success and people like Oakley that other idiot from Adelaide and the Greek have done everything in there power to deny us that opportunity that everyone deserves, if they want academy players they should lose there rights to FS.

Well, from the AFL's perspective, they should be looking to take over Australia - hence the reasoning behind GWS, GC, and the academies come with that. Whether You/me agree with it or not, the AFL is now a business, and it is looking to branch out. Whether some sides have tasted success it irrelevant to the AFL, they are clearly playing the long game, its a big play, but necessary. Its quite simple IMO, we shouldn't look at Vic as the be all and end all for talent. The academies are absolutely vital for the game.

Middmalt sir/madam/? I have been a demon supporter for well over 50 yrs,we have ourselves to blame for the lack of success.Deduct premierships by Brisbane,Adelaide,West Coast,Sydney and Port Ad that gives us a chance to win 39 out of 50 premierships. How many has the Hawks won, about 11. We rejected Poly Farmer and Darryl Baldock who became legends for their respective clubs, the reasons go on and on. We recruit Neeld as coach,he purchased players who were passed their use by dates, the junior talent is pathetic compared with the recent and now recruits. Sylvia in the pass seemed to hold the club to ransom, yet Roos wasn't having any of that.

Nah, Stu. He's right. Every thread you post in becomes some sort of game where you have to run away with all the prizes. It's boring. Nobody wants to have to wade through page after page of you having to be 100% correct on every single point of every subjective internet discussion.

That said... I'm not sure we'll get either unless we have a break out year and figure out some trade magic like we did this year. I'm not ruling out some sort of WTF? how did we get that moment, but it will take both of those conditions being met.

And there it is.

Don't think for a moment that I think what I said will make a difference to you. But it needs to be said. By all of us. You are a pain in the arse that ruins almost every good thing around here, You aren't alone, but you do make the top three. People come here to read and talk about football, not to see Stuie up on the bar, pants around his ankles, telling everyone what a figjam he is.

Anyway... floor is yours. Gif or sarcasm or troll away. I'd prefer go away, but do what ya gotta do, bud

That's great and so are the academies - doesn't explain why some clubs should get priority pick access to them though.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
