Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

From news.com. Interview with Hogan

"

Indeed, he said he’d been busy studying draft prospects — including potential forwards — to help the team mount an assault on September.

“We’ve only got a young team and could do with a little more help up forward,” Hogan said.

“These days the academies are amazing, you get developed from such a young age, come into AFL footy and you can basically slide straight into the system.

“There’s not that three to four years that talls used to have, you can come straight in and have an impact.”

Something which Hogan knows all too well, having kicked 44 goals in his breakout season this year."

Seems he does not want to 'waste' an early pick on a mid this draft.

He may well want a buddy up forward to help him but it may help if we have the midfield to get the pill down to them too.

IMO pic 3 middy and pic 7 forward.

by the same reasoning...both mids. Mids can kick goals... fwds dont play the midfield.

Ok, i get that you seem to be a fan, but it's clearly reaching is we were to select middymalt @ 3. I have him going mid-late teens.

Parish and Oliver

Our midfield woes from the last decade will be over

Surely we can't pass on a big bodies mid from Echuca again. Would be Ollie [censored] up 2.0

I think our guys want Parish, plus one of Curnow or Weideman. So it goes like this.

If we don't take Parish at 3, he'll go to the Bummers at 4. If we want Parish at all, we'll have no choice but to take him at 3.

And if we take Parish at 3, it's very unlikely that both Curnow & Weideman will be gone by 7.

Bummers likely to take either Curnow & Weideman, but not both as they're both tall forwards. They're far more likely to take one, plus someone different, probably Francis.

Everyone seems to think that GCS are more likely to take someone like Milera, rather than who's left out of Curnow & Weideman.

But if the unlikely happens & both Curnow & Weideman are gone at 7, we're then likely to take another tall forward, probably McKay.

It will be a much harder decision if both Curnow & Weideman are available at 7, and we have to choose between them!

A fan, I just want the best midfielder available at pic 3 which according to all reports is Parish TBH Demon.

I agree about Parish, he's the one that will definitely be gone by pick 7. I'll be surprised if we pass on Parish at 3 but a bit excited if JT rates Curnow or Weideman that highly.

I think if we take Parish there's a good chance that Essendon will grab Oliver with one of their picks, I think they'll want at least one pure mid at the pointy end. Their other pick could go a few different ways, Weideman, Francis or Curnow all possible. The dream for us is they take Francis, GC take Milera and we're left with a choice at 7.

If it doesn't work out and Essendon take Weid and GC take Curnow for example, then one of Oliver or Francis has to be available. We know JT and crew rate Parish, Curnow and Weideman but I have no idea which way we'll go at 7 if they're all gone. Do we grab a tall regardless or are Oliver and Francis too good to pass up?

For me the dream result would be Parish and Weideman then Parish and Curnow, if both Curnow and Weid were gone by 7 I'd happily miss out on a tall and take Oliver or Francis. If JT rates McKay higher than those 2 fair enough, I just hope we don't reach for a tall.

So many people saying play Tmac forward...

He is our only true defender. Dunn fills in, frost... Jury is out, whose next...

Ur kidding me if you think TMac is a better defender then Dunn.

Can't rememebr the last time Dunn has been really pantsed down back. He rarely makes an error with the pressure of being last line of defence.

I can easily remember last time TMac got pantsed

I wont pretend to know u18 football but nevertheless I'm on board the Parish and H.McKay double for posterity.

What the hell is wrong with you ??? You should pretend to know everything about under 18 football like every other poster on here.

After thinking about it for longer

I see the Bombers taking at least 1 mid with 4 and 5

I personally see them (as long as we select Parish) taking one of Milera/Matheison/Oliver and one of Curnow or Francis. I believe they take Curnow for a partnership with Daniher. He was never going to slip past the Suns at 6 anyway. Gold Coast select Francis over Milera and Weideman. We take Weideman

Another Scenario , is the bombers take Oliver at 5 and Weideman at 4. Gold Coast take Francis at 6 and we take Curnow at 7. This one is the dream really. Apparently the bombers have come to love Oliver and are expected to take him at 4 or 5

Dunn has experience and knows how forwards move more than Tommy. Especially considering he played as one. Give it a couple years and Tommy will be one of the best defenders in the AFL

Our midfield needs a mid like Parish. If he can bring outside receivers into the game aka Watts we will be a better side. Really torn at 7 as I see a lot of upside with Mckay and Oliver however hoping for weid or Curnow to slip

As much as we need another tall forward, it feels as though the percentage play would be to take Parish with pick 3 and then either Mathieson or Oliver with pick 7.

One would think/hope our midfield in a couple of years would then be bordering on elite, especially if we also land Prestia next year.

Midfield is the the key ingredient. And we have the chance now to really nail this.

The Hawks didn't need Franklin and Roughead as much as people predicted. And the Swans didn't need Franklin and Tippett as much as expected.

As part of this, it's obviously imperative that we sign Hogan to a two decade deal though.

Maybe the thought process from the club to go tall at pick 7

I think it's very likely that Essendon and MFC will take whoever is believed to be the best player at each pick regardless of type. For example if Essendon believe Curnow and Weideman are the 2 next best players they'll take them believing they'll end up with 2 great new KPFs - pretty good problem to have.

I don't. They are in desperate need of quality mids, and they already have a highly talented forward in Daniher. I'd be staggered if they didn't take 1 mid.

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
