Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY

I loved Kennedy in the juniors and thought Collingwood were KOTD when they managed to snare Grundy at 18 and Kennedy at 19. They then picked up another SA Broomhead at 20 with the Dawes pick.

I also accept he's had limited opportunities, because Collingwood have so many midgets and he's often been used as the sub. But he's looked out of his depth at AFL level.

That said, if the club likes him I'II back their judgement.

If we get him he will be to us what Schneider/Buchanan were to Sydney in Roosy's tenure, in my opinion

Are we now collecting Kennedy's

lets hope so, because we are in a 60's sort of retro-era. They are well, popular, & successful, apart from injuries.

the josh twins are doing well for their respective clubs. are they're any kanga's out & about blzb?

He wouldn't be in our best 22 and that's saying something because our best 22 ain't elite.

We need more than one of every kind, even with JK-H.

even the ark had 2 of every kind.

we need more than that for competition of spots.

If we get him he will be to us what Schneider/Buchanan were to Sydney in Roosy's tenure, in my opinion

yep, I can see that.

My preconceived impression of Kennedy was pretty much the same, and was underwhelmed with getting him. I googled a highlights clip of him in his 1st season, and 2 things stood out:

- His first 2 kicks were right footed, including a 50m shot on the run. So I thought I was wrong about him being a natural left footer.

- His disposal by left is very neat and penetrating.

If Toumpas had put on a display like this in any of his games in his 1st season, we'd be salivating.

If anyone needs to know what KOTD stands for, do a search on here for it - that was a fun thread!

Can't quite recall to what it referred to though...

It was some boring discussion about where Trengove would have been taken the year before we drafted him...

You just wasted my time.

An extract from today's Age: "Collingwood forward Ben Kennedy has met Melbourne, which rated him extremely highly in his draft year of 2012. The Demons would likely have chosen the South Australian with pick four in that year's national draft, had Jimmy Toumpas been selected with one of the first three picks". http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/john-worsfolds-first-job-as-essendon-coach-get-matthew-leuenberger-20151006-gk2q69.html

So much for the 3 year long angst on DL re 'we should have taken Wines instead of Toumpas'!!!

It seems Ollie was not destined to be ours.

Did MFC ever say they would take Ollie @ pick 4 or was it a media/supporter assumption!

Some decent authors to that article so have to give the quote some cred.

Hope that puts an end to the 'Jimmy vs Ollie' word fest on here!

It just compounds the felony of our very ordinary recruiters of that time.

Yes very true!

Kennedy would then have become the DL whipping boy condemned to comparisons to Wines, McCrae et al!!

Knowing that MFC rated Kennedy so highly and that Jason Taylor (then at the Pies) chose him suggests we really know what we are doing with this one and he may turn out to be a real surprise packet.

That's just the media doing what they do best.

Being absolute clowns.

Given Port's apparent interest in Toumpas, I suspect that, like virtually every other club in the comp, they would've picked Toumpas over Wines. Some people here seem to forget that Toumpas was universally rated as a top end draft pick with big upside.

At the time ...

So it's sounding like:

Toumpas to Port

Young to the Filth

Kennedy to Melbourne.

Can't really complain with that I wouldn't have thought.

Leaves our 2nd & 3rd round picks to secure Melksham & Bugg and the likes of Howe & Dawes on the table to get us back into the draft after Pick 6. I still reckon Grimes will be traded by the end of trade period also.

And he may yet deliver on that upside. I hope he does.

It will hurt to see him do it somewhere else but I will be thrilled for him personally.

I will be equally thrilled if Kennedy, who we rate highly, can deliver for us!

Thought it was Moore.

Yeah he was mentioned when they were talking about Toumpas for Melksham.

However The Age this morning referenced it was going to be Toumpas for Kennedy and Young was the likely link instead.

That many different scenarios get thrown around!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
