Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He is a PEGS boy, who was coached by Ken Fletcher. From what I saw in his first few years, he is a very talented player. Put players like Brayshaw, Petracca and Viney around him and I Am sure that he can perform. People under rate how much the recent culture at the Bombers has set guys like Melksham back.

Hold your head high, Thehardtackler!

Hahha some brilliant hand up moments in here.

He has surpassed all expectations, I think (no desire or real idea how to search my posts) I wanted to give him a chance and he should be an upgrade. He has gone to another level, skills are so good hitting targets ahead of him.

Actually quite entertaining reading some of the comments ?. I tried to find one that I made to see what I said, I’m pretty sure I was underwhelmed and annoyed we gave up a second round pick for him. Pretty good value looking at it now!

Props to everyone willing to laugh at themselves. I didn’t say anything outrageous but only because whenever something happens that I strongly disagree I tend to just go “meh, I probably don’t know what I’m talking about”. At the end of the day the guys making the choices know a zillion times more about footy than the rest of us.

Also props to @stevethemanjordan (and a small handful of others) whose post (page 2 or 3) went against the grain and completely nailed it.

So basically... Connors is trying to use the threat of going to Melbourne to push his clients' price up, or Melksham wants to be at Melbourne because he wants to get out & likes Goodwin & McCartney, so he's angling for MFC...

Either way, I don't see a lot indicating that we are interested.

It would hold a lot more weight if someone from the club gave an indication that we want him.

And I'm sure if we do, it'll be conditional on him being cheap.

Bog ordinary, but a slight improvement on Bail/Matt Jones/Riley/etc.

Marginal improvement if no others are to be found.

FFS, my recollection was that I was FOR Melksham’s recruitment. Wonder what I would have said if I was against it!

Don’t know how to finding my posts other than clicking through and reading 100+ pages!

I was one of the few on here who thought he was a decent trade and defended him early on. He was good as a half forward/mid at the Bombers, so once moved away from defense it’s no surprise he has thrived.

Here’s hoping he can keep having an impact in September!

Maybe he is going to take over the Warrnambool boxing sessions to toughen Wattsy up?

Not a fan, he doesn't seem like he gets enough pill, doesn't look like he uses it that well and then seems to get turned around going the other way. Here is hoping he improves, is he a direct replacement for Cross role? (Not comparing them)

Arrrhhhg there I am, a few pages in. I wasn’t a fan but hoped he’d improve... hasn’t he just!!!

A few backed him in early doors, @Henrietta Lumbago coped a bit of abuse but he was spot on, even including a swap Watts for Milky but that got a few rises. A few might want to put the I’m sorry mat out to him...

He was always a good player. I was just concerned about his part in the Essendrug situation. I don’t like drug cheats.

He may be fully remorseful, i have no idea.

But he has certainly played brilliant footy for us and igive him serious credit for that.

We may well have beaten the Swans if he wasn’t injured.

I’ll continue to hang my hat on the early call to draft Hibbo, and tell anyone who will listen about it, but I made a proper meal of this one. I knew he had skills but the form line over a two year period just wasn’t there for me.

In retrospect perhaps it was him being shuffled around position wise that was to his detriment. Along with the whole playing for a drug cheating shammozle thing.

Predicting he’d be a good pick up is one thing but it would’ve taken a serious optimist to foresee the player he is right now.

I think most people would've thought he was an average player, even Bomber supporters, his kicking at Essendon was ordinary also. Credit to Goodwin here finding a place for him in the forward line and he's grown quickly. No shame in thinking what you did beforehand, most would have.

We all know he leads the league in goal assists, but he has proven to be “the difference “ and a real barometer player for us.

He is a key ingredient , if not the key ,to our forward line functioning properly.

  • 4 years later...

Thought I would bump this with his interview on the Gus & Gawny podcast and his return to form. I think he will be playing AFL next year and it would be great if it was with us but can understand if it isn’t. Let’s hope he can stay and play in 3 more wins in 2022.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
