Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

and when people inevitably talk footy around me I will quietly leave the room

I have been doing this for a few years now.

You had no joy from beating Geelong at Geelong, Western Bulldogs, Collingwood and Richmond? Lighten up mate.

Not good enough. A little joy would be to at least PLAY a finals game. I do not give a toss if we win 12 games, if we do not make the top eight, then I am not happy. Then we must progress further until another Premiership Cup is in our cupboard (the ultimate prize)

I envy a little those supporters who have only been members for 4 or 5 years as they they have not had to bear the pain I have since 1964. At least I did see us win our last Flag. lol.

I no longer want to have this negative emotional force as part of my life, FFS there is enough carp to put up with in life

But I absolutely love footy

The idea of changing clubs makes me sick to my stomach, I couldn't do it

I actually wish we would fold, that way we all have no choice but to move on, and forget the red and blue

Block it out like a repressed emeory and pretend it never happened

Will never be the same though, supporting someone else.. it's not linked to my family and my childhood

How friggin depressing

The problem is that it is up to the PLAYERS to put in the effort and contest with everything they have on the field. Withdrawing your financial support does not affect them, their pay will stay the same, if the club folds they will go elsewhere. While a massive exodous of protesting members will certainly be felt by the administration, the players themselves won't even notice or care.

Go elsewhere ??? Not many of them would be "employed" elsewhere. Many of them on OUR list would certainly notice !

It is sad some of us have come to the point of thinking like that, but I sadly have to agree with you. There is not much joy in an AFL footy season for me any more. I wish Tassie had a team of it's own. The Dees are also linked to my family through my Dad and his Dad etc.

R1 was good too. That's only 5 out of 20 though, the other 15 have almost all been nightmare stuff. Yesterday was actually like being tortured, I was literally moaning writhing in pain in my seat. That's not what supporting a footy side is supposed to be about, and we have endured too much of it for too long.

Fair comments. The poster did say though that we get 'no joy even now and then'. This is not true. That statement prompted my response.

I understand where you are coming from 'Curry', my emotions are feelings of anger and other times depression.

It's totally illogical I know, I mean I don't play for the club, have a tenuous link to say the least but it still sucks me in.

...footy should be enjoyed and take you away from the problems of life for that 100 or so minutes a week the games on, but for me it is anything but a release and has in fact been an unhealthy way to spend my limited free time.

I would like to walk away, I'm totally disgusted with the club, the game and the AFL but I'm one of those stupid 'welded on's' that the powers that be like to s...all over.

I did something I never thought I would do...walked away at half time.

That effort (inappropriate word for what happened but you know what I mean) was so lame, so lacking in respect for the club, its colours and supporters, so spiritless and so utterly p#@% weak that I don't know how the players look at themselves after the game.

And Jeremy Howe, I know he has x-factor and marketability, but some of his disposals in the second half of the year have been spectacularly bad. Right now, I don't think I would care if he walks. I'd take a quick, strong bodied midfielder over his once-or-twice a game playground hangers.

The players probably "look at themselves" in the mirror and probably too often. Just saying

I didn't go to the Essendon win in 2012. I actually chose a booty call over it, which turned out to be a bad choice for two reasons...

Anyway, after missing that game I promised myself that I'd stick with the club and go to every game in Melbourne when I could, because I wanted to be there for the special wins. I've missed a few this year because of work but they were all loses. But yesterday was it for me. I'm not going to a game again until we string 3 wins in a row together.

I have a right to jump on the bandwagon whenever I want. I was in Geelong for 186 and I have been completely disenchanted since, but I have seen the corner and waited for the club to turn it. It hasn't.

I could never support another team but Melbourne has made me hate AFL. I am not until it says at least "LLWWW" under "Last 5" on the ladder. They're not getting my time or money anymore. I need a tangible product to buy in to.

Back in February I went to the AGM.

The CEO made a statement that it was not unreasonable to expect that the MFC would play finals football in 2016.

I wonder will that go down as the silliest thing ever said by a CEO

They may be comments that surpass that one but it must surly be in the top five

No, but surely a person is entitled to some Joy in there life!

He didn't even want to go to school today because he hates being laughed at and bagged for being a Demon.

He and his mates are footy mad......it's tough when you are a footy tragic and your team plays like a bunch of clowns.

No it's not life and death, but it is bloody depressing.

True, it is much worse than that.

"they came out like maniacs fresh from lobotomies".

I think we should be very thankful that the coaching staff got the players fired up before they came out, otherwise it could have been a big loss.....

I wonder what odds PJ will give me for the demons to make the finals next year???

Have to say I agree with the posters who were saying about just expecting insipid performances these days, I am at a loss as to how/why we are so bad. I feel sorry for the kids who we recruit but in saying that, one day we will come good as a club and I have no idea why but I will be a paid up member and look forward to being one who can say that i maintained my membership through the entire down period. And that includes right up to the end even if we are eventually folded.

We are going to have a huge drop off in supporters in the next 10-20 yrs with the loss of kids supporting us, not sure how we can do anything about it.

I blame the AFLPA (only half joking). The players should be embarrassed to pick up their fat pay cheques after insulting a once proud jumper the way they did on the weekend.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
