Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAME DAY - Round 21

Recommended Posts

The Demons step out onto the MCG for the final time this year in the eight anniversary commemoration of the infamous Kreuzer Cup game from 2007.

Fittingly, Matt Kreuzer will be on hand to play in ruck for the Blues after what has so far been an injury ravaged career and Chris Judd who was another Carlton prize from its tanking spree will be parading around in a motorcade to celebrate those many years in the wilderness his club went through and millions spent after they secured him in the farcical selection drama they set up at the time. Given that Juddy was paid a fortune to promote the environmental friendliness of an organisation that was once fined $36m over price fixing, one hopes that the vehicle carting him around the ground will be an electric model but I wouldn't put my house on that.

As for the game itself - meh. The result will probably be the same as it was eight years ago although it wouldn't surprise me if Levi Casboult suddenly discovered his kicking boots and scored seven or eight straight (unlike Lance Whitnall who did such a fantastic job shanking shots at goal from 15 meters out).

I hope somebody had the foresight to invite Travis Johnstone to join the motorcade as well to celebrate his 42 uncontested possessions from that very memorable day/night occasion.

A win today would give us 7 so far, with a realistic chance of beating GWS in round 23 to make it 8 for the year. It would make the season a success, all things considered.

All eyes on Hogan and Cripps in the Rising Star showdown.

Carlton won the original Kreuzer Cup all those years ago. A couple of weeks ago they won the Kreuzer Cup MK 2 vs Brisbane. It's good to see that Essendon and James don't have the monopoly on honesty and decency in the AFL. It's a mantle that sits well at Carlton. I think they should get a priority pick for good measure.

I hate these sorts of games. There's no avenue for satisfaction - we either win as expected as the opposition have the cue in the rack, or we somehow lose and suffer that embarrassment.

Hope Hogan kicks 10, or something else happens that makes this dead rubber worth watching.

Exactly so and why I shall be watching from Romsey Manor rather than attending in person.

Was thinking of posting the same thing when opening the thread.

Another game.

Another opportunity to embarrass ourselves.

Hard to build a viable club when the membership are driven to think like this.

At least Tom McDonald has it right which gives me some hope for the future , six wins is not successful, no matter how delusional Rawlings is.

Yep, that's exactly what I was going to say. 10 for Hogan in a 90 point win. It's the slight possibility of that that's going to get me to the ground. Won't happen though cos we're Melbourne.

I dont get this mindset Nasher... any win should be satisfying for MFC fans. Ill never take any win for granted after what we have dshed up since 2007.

I'm going because i have seen is lose enough. We should win. If we only midday won i will be bitter and all in good spirits as we will get to sing the song. If we happen to belt them i want to be there for that to enjoy it.

I figure we have more chance of winning this week than most so to miss out on such rare odds just because it is a dead rubber would be crazy after the [censored] we sit through at other times.

Looking for the boys to play with cohesion that we've been lacking: maybe we will put it together with a bit less pressure? Looking for Hogan to dominate: that would put a smile on my face. Looking for to Garlett kicking a few against his old team. Looking for us to hit them hard and physically: I know Robinson plays elsewhere now but i still hold it personally against this mob.

Just got home after working a bit of overtime during the night, I'll probably miss the game as I'll be sleeping and can't record it as foxtel is down.

Haven't missed a game all season but can't say I'm particularly fussed about missing this one, if I had to some up this game in one word it would be 'meh.'

100+ point win and I might get a little excited. :)

Yes we've had so many wins since 2006 this game is just meaningless ho hum etc. Every F***g win for this club is important. Its like people are trying to kid themselves it isn't just in case we lose

It's hard to get excited about playing Carlton when they are clearly tanking.

This is the sort of game where we have to come out, attack and dominate the opposition. It won't be a good win if we win by a couple of kicks.

It's lovely weather over here in Perth today. I'm taking the missus and kids down the coast after the young blokes Auskick wind-up this morning.

I'll tape the game on IQ and check in on here now and then to see if the game will actually be worth watching the replay. Let's hope Jesse gets on the end of a few.

Versus any other game day Wb?

I'm normally pretty good on game day... this just has an Essendon feel to it, and we all know how that worked out.

I'm still very hopeful we can come out and smash them but previous form in games like these leaves plenty to be desired.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
