Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

seagulls don't hunt much, they gather anything they can, including easy pickings from tips. They are in good health & not underweight. They reuse discarded material for their purposes well.

we need to take all we think can help us. No team is a SoOrigin side.

one mans scrap, is another creators treasure. we must stop thinking like women at a supermarket. only looking to the shelves.

That is very d&m. Not quite sure that I entirely agree, but, like Voltaire, I defend your right to say it, and enjoy the mental challenge of trying to decipher it all :-))

Just on Bugg, he definitely competes but his footskills are a bit questionable. He's deceptively quick as well. As someone alluded to, he might be a nice run with player which will free up Viney.

Can't say I have really followed him or would recognise him, but I hope you are not suggesting that he would be a good fit for #13 !

The point I'm trying to make is Jetta does a great job playing his role locking down small forwards but what if we had someone who could do that and have elite disposal and push up into the midfield if needed.

We struggled this year again in the midfield but maybe next year depending on injuries but definitely in 2017 there should no such thing as a small lock defender or a mid sized defender and that's all they can do. It will be we have midfielders with elite disposal playing the role of a lock down defender or a mid size defender.

Hawthorn and Geelong worked this out years ago and the results speak for themselves.

I haven't seen a lot of Melksham, could be coming off the other back flank from Salem. Multiple options.

we lost mcKenzie & riley, & bail & cross so far...

so i wondering if Bugg could be a possible replacement of McKenzie/Riley ? that hard nut runwith? Vince hasn't got too many years left.

This "lack of footskills" is getting a bit over the top and I'm wondering what sample size it's based upon. I've watched him live on numerous occasions over his career and his footskills are fine. Stagnated a little the last couple of years but his tagging role hasn't really allowed him to show his wares.

Ignition summed it up well. He's not top end but for late 2nd or 3rd round he'll be a good pick up. Definitely ticks the competitor box.

I don't know whether you're making a joke or having a go at me. Horrible post. Go away.

Now come on don't be like that, I think your point about Bugg being as good as Fyfe because he has one similar deficiency is intriguing...

That call is about as funny as a call to Kids Helpline. Go away.

Says the guy who has had every bad MFC pun under the sun as his nickname here....

So I'm guessing you're not going to elaborate then? Jetta and Bugg are potential Brownlow winners based on the fact they are average kicks?

yep, & this is the box we've fallen on our faces from, over the last 10 years. If you were to take out Whelan, Neitz, Ox, Rigoni, powell, JnrMac, from our list since 2000, we would have had very little substance & physical presence.

.... we had a bit of flash & sparklers, that wouldn't work hard enough, tackle, chase, keep feet, & all the other bits that go into being a real team & AFL side... we looked great when allowed to, but fall on face when pressure applied.

Jetta and Bugg are both neat kicks, not lethal kicks. Not an issue at all. Judd is a neat kick. Fyfe is a below-average kick.

TJ was a lethal kick... but can't remember them kicks now. & how would he go in this congestion, would he get picked off threading the needle?

If we had such a player, he wouldn't be playing the same role as Jetta.

We would want that player to beat a bloke in a spot on the ground where he can quickly become involved in an attack.

We wouldn't want this person playing on Betts, Wingard, Walters, and co.

They WILL hurt you if they are playing on someone interested in being heavily involved in rebounding the footy.

Hawthorn and Geelong still have role players down back who 'beat their bloke.'

There is a place for that mentality in good teams.

What post were you reading Stuie?

I think the suggestion was that being an average kick doesn't necessarily make you redundant as a player, in fact you can be an elite player with average skills if your other attributes are sufficiently strong. Nowhere was it stated, or even implied, that Bugg or Jetta were approaching the calibre of Fyfe let alone his equal.

Yes, i did get that and was clearly being a bit facetious.

What I was pointing out, is that players like Judd and Fyfe are that good at everything else that their average kicking skills don't really matter, whereas for players like Jetta and Bugg it's a more important factor given their other skills and talent levels are nowhere near the same.

I figured people would be able to work that out for themselves and not have me point it out.

Jetta and Bugg must have been robbed in Brownlow votes the last few years by that logic...

I don't know whether you're making a joke or having a go at me. Horrible post. Go away.

Brownlow votes require more than being a good kick otherwise Strauss, Morton Watts and Maric would have lots of votes.

Yes Bugg fits in as the hard nut. Either as back pocket or tagger in the midfield when required. He has the potential to play the unsociable footy required to take Melbourne upwards.

I have said I don't know a lot about him - how is his endurance? Eveready type?

I've explained it for you in my post above.

Should have realized how much of a struggle it would be for some 'Landers to think for themselves.

Are you trying to set a record for the amount of threads you can derail Stuie? It's pretty annoying reading through a thread and finding that the last page is filled with nothing arguments that you've started.

FWIW, I hope we land Bugg. He'd be a very good pick up and I'd expect we wouldn't have to pay an exorbitant price for him.

Swap of our 2nd & 3rd round picks for their 2nd & 3rd round picks & throw in Grimes. Could seal the deal.

Leaves our 2nd round pick for Melksham.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
