Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is he actually any good?

Melksham's a better player than Bugg.

I agree. Which is why I'd only offer up a 3rd rounder. I think he would be good as a half back flank type of defender. Can play on smalls or mid-sized forwards and also generate run.

Bugg and Plowman were talked about last year.

Melksham and Bugg should be worth about the same - third rounder or straight swap for the likes of Toumpas, Watts, Grimes (potentially plus a sweetener).

Both would be in our best 22, but both have got massive spots on them. neither are big possession winners or inside mids, and both have shown to have horrible decision making at times.

If we can do Toumpas for Melksham and Bugg for a third rounder I'd be pleased.

When Silvani reflects on his time at GWS, in spite of the unprecedented number of top end picks, he will surely concede to himself that he picked an incredible number of duds. Kristian Jaksch, now Carlton, may be one of the worst footballers I have ever seen (I'm not joking here - he's putrid) and, for mine, Bugg doesn't seem to have it either. Patton's been a flop, Whitfield hasn't lived up to his hype and then there's phat phil.

Melksham's a better player than Bugg and you guys have all bagged Melksham like he's the worst player of all time.

On ability alone Melksham probably is better then Bugg. But Bugg doesn't have a 2 year suspension hanging over his head, so for that reason i'd rather Bugg if i had to choose between the two.

If our third rounder is used on Melksham maybe our first rounder for Bugg and their first rounder

We only go 2 spots down in the draft order for Bugg and GWS have more draft 'points' to use on their academy selections

Melksham's best would be more damaging than Bugg's. But Bugg's average game is better. Plus Bugg is super consistant. He is not a guy who will go missing during games or seasons. Melksham goes missing all the time.

Bugg is much better defensivly and I would not hesitate to sign him up for 4 years. Even if the majority of our youngsters improve, Bugg would still be able to slot into our best 22.

Melksham would slot into our best 22 next year, but I would expect a number of kids to go flying past him by the third year of his contract.

If he's more defensive orientated (and we have mids like Vince, Viney & even N Jones who can do a job but still hurt teams going the other way) then Bugg sounds like a potential understudy to Jetta as a lock down small who may be able to release Salem further up the ground in the interim. I like the sound of that very much. I've been thinking we needed to shore up the back half smalls, especially with White still on the Rookie List next year. When Jetta & Salem were injured we struggled with small forwards this year IMO.

Of course midfield is still priority number one with a bullet, but as stated elsewhere, we can't be complacent & need more/better everything. He can pinch hit in the midfield too & what I've liked about this bloke when I've seen him is his mongrel, we could use several more dollops of that all over the ground too!

To those who say melksham is better, I've seen plenty of him over the years & am not a fan. Whilst I haven't seen much of Bugg, they are clearly very different players, melksham has played predominately forward of centre as a mid. Very hard to compare players in different positions/roles & stages of their careers. But as I said in the melksham thread, I'll trust our current mob to make the call on either of them.

NFI.

Whitfield is worth more than our first rounder, would take him in a heartbeat.

He wouldnt be an understudy to Jetta, he would comand his own place in our 22. Although he could play the small defender if Jetta is injured.

He is pretty much a rich man's Jack Grimes. Better disposal, better speed, slightly better defensively. Eats steak.

Ralph adding Bugg to the list we are interested in and I've heard it is reasonable info.

I'm not a huge fan but he's another in the 'better than Matt Jones or Terlich column'.

Brings some hardness and could play lock down small defender, tagger or defensive forward.

As said earlier, I've been told by Tommy himself that hes agreed to a contract with us. Although it was acknowledged anything could happen between clubs before the deal goes through but he has committed to us on his end

I'd love to get Tom Bugg to the club. I rate him as a player and think he's been undervalued at GWS because of all the other young budding 'stars' over there. Also reckon he'd be a great personality to have around the club. Does everything required of him and plays his role week in, week out.

I think it was a joke

Yep, a little weak trade season satire.

The joke was not on you I hasten to add. You have rock solid info and have named the most reliable source possible. The joke is on all those posters that require iron clad sources during this silliest of all seasons

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
