Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

All I'll say is that we must finish off this year strongly, not only to give supporters hope but also entice and encourage potential recruits that we're a destination on the improve. Last year's finish was utterly abysmal and left a dark cloud over the club for months.

I don't give a damn about dropping from pick 4 to pick 6 if it means nabbing another 3 wins before the year ends.

I put my Sydney hat on, laugh, and walk away.

And I'm keeping the hat.

I can see how that may be funny. My thinking is there is a kid in the draft who is a clone of Michael Hurley named Kieran Collins who will definitely go top 10, possibly top 5 depending on a clubs needs. He is ready to play AFL next year. Swans would have to be close to having salary cap issues. If you trade a star player for a star player nothing's changed, the same problem remains. But a star player for a gun kid that fits your needs, it levitates the problem somewhat. You could then argue there's no guarantees the player will develop, well that's just footy isn't it. This is the bit I'm not sure on, say the Swans finish 2nd again, they can than pick up another academy player with the potential to go top 5 with pick 17. If they trade for another first round pick(say pick 5), does the academy player then have to be selected with pick 5 or can they still use 17? Because if they don't it lessons the blow somewhat. Two top 5 picks for picks 5 & 17. Fitzy was thrown in as someone who Horse might think he can develop. Change it to Garland/Spenser I'm not really fussed. We are possibly in a position to pay overs one more time to land a established midfielder before our young talent develops and start demanding more dollars. Edited by Al's Demons

He is class A.

Speedy midfielder.

Not afraid to show it.

Reminiscent of the great Liam Jurrah. Comes with a LOT of baggage.

Not sure I see the link Kali. Jurrah is not a speedy midfielder nor was he pictured with drugs. Please fill us in on the similarities between Jurrah and Bennell. Cheers.

The system was changed for father son and academy picks. Have a read of this.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-05-21/new-bidding-system-introduced-for-fatherson-and-northern-academy-players

Basically there won't be any freebies anymore. The Swans and other academy teams are going to have to come up with higher value picks to get their players. It could help us as they need high draft picks to get these elite kids in, so we could use our high pick to extract a good player from them.

Thanks for that. Time to offer a deal to good to refuse.

Sorry to disappoint you all but anyone any good will be picked off by the big cherry pickin' clubs up the pointy end of the ladder.

We'll be the ones getting picked over as usual.

I think you might have taken over the mantel of most negative poster on Demonland in the last few weeks. Well done.

Forget it. Swans are banned from trading anyone other than a player for the average wage of $350k.

I suspect the club has targeted certain players and that some of those discussions are well advanced.

However, given Roos' history, I suspect some of those players won't be the completely obvious names bandied about here and on every other AFL club's supporter website at the moment.

What a stupid comment.

I'm guessing most AFL players are Christian.

http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/[email protected]/Lookup/4102.0Main+Features30Nov+2013

61% of Australians are listed as Christian

No religion is the fastest growing "faith group" in Australia increasing 6.8% in the 2001-2011 decade.

However, in the under 30year old male group over 30% reported as not religious.

The good news is that in 2011 that over 60,000 Australians reported their religion as Jedi.

So Praha you are probably right, I wonder how many AFL footballers are Jedi's? Brayshaw?

LOL I actually put my religion down as Jedi but I acknowledge my Christian roots.

Salem???

I think to be "Christian" and to be "Catholic" means different things to a lot of people. I am not religious but I classify myself as Christian.

Anyway, I've taken this off-topic. Sorry.

The majority are probably christian by birth, but I would have thought that of those, a minority are actually practicing christians (that is, regularly attending church, playing bingo, acting holier than thou, laying the vicar etc etc).

They mentioned on AFL360 last night that he would be most likely meeting with and telling Adelaide management today what his plans are.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
