Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

As much as it would be great to bring Thomlinson in, I think you might be overestimating him a fair bit. Dawes is still a fair ways ahead of Thomlinson.

Tomlinson took Dawes to the cleaners when they played against each other last year...

Fair call on Vardy Skuit.

Yeah, Keating was a beauty DL, a real finals specialist (would spend most of regular season injured then get back in time for finals). Not many of that ilk floating around I'm afraid. Of the juniors, Parella from SA has that grunt and aggression, probably a third round prospect, maybe second for a side in real need of a young ruck.

State league wise there's Tagliabue from Essendon's VFL affiliate and Sam Baulderstone from Norwood who could compete at AFL level.

Apart from the blokes named earlier on AFL lists, the only other one that comes to mind is Todd Elton on Richmond's list. More a tall kpp who can ruck, but has the body size, and reasonable ability, but doesn't look like he's ever really settled at Richmond.

yep, Keating was a ripper, literally... would hack & smash the opposition rucks, & talls, irrespective of who they thought they were. he just didn't bother with prisoners.

& he was just as effective as a key forward.

he is what we should be looking for as a cameo ruck 3rd tall.

heres a reminder of the sort of 'footy', he provided....

We, do not need a JWhite type of athlete.... another soft type but athletic.

we need a bulldozer, who marks.

Unfortunately Dawes is a bulldozer, but most of the time he just doesn't mark.

no, not the bulldozer type I mean... a bulldozer in the ruck, who also marks. In other words, he smashes his opponents out of his way, or if he can't get to the ball in the pack, he'll bowl the whole bloody pack over, bringing ball to ground.

dawes is a pansy planter, compared to Keating.

& keating, in our present side, would be our strongest mark by far, in this current Dees team.

this is why I was hoping for Weideman, hoping he may have some of his grand-dads old mojo. but I haven't seen any of Weidemans games. although he reads as a strong contested mark, mobile & is in that 3rd tall/ruck size range. he's written up quite well.

& the pies will have him lying low as possible as well, hoping he'll fall thru to their pick?

You really like Keating.

ohh yes, & I was also a huge Ottens fan, once he started to play better down at the Cattery.

I like effectiveness, talent, & no-nonsense, hard footy.

theres an honesty in that type of footy that no one can escape from. you face it, or your seen to fold.

no more flash & sparkle players please, for the Mfc ??? lets have the Voss's, the Keatings, the Lynch's, the Orange Roughies, the Scotts, the Blacks, the Lapins, the Pikes, the Bradshaws, & elsewhere, the Scarletts, the Moonies, the Selwoods, the Kirks, the Chapmans, the Rookes, the Lings, the Burgoynes, the Hodges, etc..

i don't want to see any more players who just run fast, or just jump on shoulders... I don't want anymore teasers like so many in the past 4 yrs here.

We seem to be very quite in this upcoming trade period when we still need to be active we may not land a superstar but more depth is still needed who have we been linked to???

More depth? We don't have any to start with. We don't even have 22 players up to AFL standard. The honest but scary truth.

In all honesty, how would you know what is going on? Because you don't pick the Herald sun up and see on the back page "Dees offer treloar 5mil"?

Is that what you base it off?

Ahhhh no more like any player we haven't really been linked to doesn't need to be Treloar, Dangerfield, etc

Anyone think we should ask about Troy Menzel?

Appears to be on the outer at Carlton, bucket load of talent and a good size for a small/medium forward mid.

Was thinking along similar lines the other day 'Chaser'. Always worth asking the question...

Here is an interesting line from Emma Quayle when discussing OOC Essendon players: Jake Melksham has been loyal but is the sort of player another club might see unfulfilled potential in. He will have other options put to him, a reunion with Simon Goodwin at Melbourne not out of the question.

He is 23, was their pick 10 in the 2009 draft, plays midfield and played just over 100 games.

IMO he doesn't fit the A-grade midfielder category but he is in our 'target' age/experience group.

Emma may be guessing but her intel is usually pretty good!

Under drug cloud and on the slow side. Wouldn't have thought he would fit the bill.

Thought Melksham might be a good target when he was last out of contract. Hasn't kicked on, but a range of mitigating factors. Still young enough to bring the talent he showed as a junior to AFL, but wouldn't be giving up a heck of a lot to get him in. If he ends up going to PSD or becomes a DFA, I'm all for bringing him in. 185cm midfielder would be a handy add to the rotation..

He is the whipping boy at Essendon. Hopeless player.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
