Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS

Recommended Posts

For those in the 'Essendon are cheating scum camp' would have to be happy with the rather delicious timing of the announcement. WADA had only about three hours left to appeal yet it is difficult to believe that they only just decided to proceed. There must have been many in the Bomber heirachy who were very confident they were going to let it go through to the keeper (to continue with the cricket analogy) only to now see it being smacked back over their heads. I think I like WADA

Or they were looking to let it go through to the keeper, only to see the ball swing back in and rattle the stumps! :)

John Ralph, suggesting that the 2 1/2 year prolonged investigation was way too long. The public will be on Essendons side this time.

Ralphy, It wasn't ASADA that caused the delays, it was little and Hird making their frivolous appeals.

That cheating lot will now get their come uppence. As I have been saying for 2 1/2 years "Guilty as Charged"

I don't think asadas case was as bad as people say, I just think without the testimony of the two who backed out it was corcumstancial and the AFL tribunal system always had a goal of its own

I don't think it will take much to turn this case from bad to very solid

"We were confident that it was such a unanimous decision out of the tribunal, and then of course ASADA decided there was insufficient evidence to appeal, and that gave us confidence that the WADA situation being, if you like, more remote, would be found in our favour," Little told Triple M radio on Tuesday morning.

That's a very amusing comment and so very, very wrong...

Ash 35

And I think that's where a decision by WADA not to appeal might lie.

WADA don't appeal losing cases.

But maybe hold off a few months, get the positive tests through a new type of test that is being developed, and then they have the evidence they need to get the job done.

The next 12-24 hours will be very interesting.

Not just whether WADA appeal, but if they don't, what their reasons are.

---------------------------------------

Ash, I hope you are right. They do lose.

All hail WADA!!!! Maybe those emails helped?

from day one, the spin has been that Essendon are the misunderstood victims and ASADA are the big bad wolf that's out to get them.

now this has reached the world stage, they can't spin this as a personal vendetta the WORLD anti doping agency has them in their crosshairs and that would not be the case if they simply didn't do anything wrong and it's all spin because of politics, we're above that now.

A big BIG reality check about to come for many thousand Bomber fans. Very few seemed reasoned coming into all of this.

Maybe Gil the Dill ought to start looking for his next job already !!

few AFL officials might be in the firing line if it comes out under oath that anyone was tipped off or told to destroy/tamper with evidence as rumours would suggest.

You can say bears do Shite in the forest.

Bailey said that in response to a question.

By the way I don't think it advisable to poke the bear while he is having a carp.

In fact don't poke a bear anytime.

Where are those smug Essendon apologists now?

How disingenuous of Little, "It has really taken us all by surprise," Little told Triple M on Tuesday morning.

Surprise, this has been going on for over 2 years and we are within the appeal period. Surprise!

Little "I think the strength of the tribunal decision ... and then ASADA determining that they weren't going to appeal sort of gave us the belief that we should be OK ... we didn't do a lot of work on the what if scenario."

Oh please, this would have been discussed and planned all along.

The PR spin will not work at the CAS.

I am reinvigorated, there may be justice after all.

Today is a great day.

Thanks DL for letting me know about the appeal.

I am feeling so much better about the AFL comp. as a result of this appeal.

Unsurprisingly the Hun are not letting comments on the article, and are only publishing the pro EFC social media. Disgrace!

The World Anti Doping Agency believes that the Essendon Football Club has a case to answer at the Court of Arbitration of Sport.

Surely that is enough to warrant the sacking of James Hird. This is no tin pot AFL tribunal. This is a World body.

Sack Hird today!

Sack Hird today!

Sack him retrospectively and make him pay back all of the money he has sucked out of the club. Then, fine the club an equivalent amount for just being what they are. Give the money to a worthy charity.

Especially when ASADA said (in only slightly more diplomatic language) that they are not going to appeal to the AFL because there is no point in going back to the same turkeys and expect a different result.

how can little express 'shock' at the appeal? god they must be naive down there at bomberland.

He was quoted as saying they didn't plan for this "what if" scenario as they thought it was over. What sort of governance is that! Bunch of arrogant idiots I really hope they get smashed the only worry is how long this will take to play out - another season with no result.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
