Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?

This needs fixing in your index:

Beat North Melbourne

- Last win: Round 5, 2006 (14-game losing streak)

But there is another record they need to break...

I am going to Carlton vs Melbourne this week (flying in from PNG), since 2006 I have not seen a win live, I have been through a marriage and divorce (I took the ex to a terrible game with North), children, and still no win (from 2007 to 2013 I always made an effort to go to a game, but when time home is so precious, organizing to see a loss became demoralizing and stopped - Summer is by far a better time to come home). I really, really, really want the Dees to break my personal hoodoo because otherwise I am going to be the albatross and I won't want to come back for finals. Admittedly I don't travel to the G much, time of year and working outside of Australia.

Not “embarrassing” as such, but first 100+ point win in 14 years (Carlton, 2 May 2004).

Biggest win since 22 August 1993 (121 points over Richmond).

Nice to be dishing it out for a change.

We technically won 4 in a row last year, with one win before the bye and 3 after. But 5 in a row would be something

Many thanks, yes it was awesome. Not even myki or food prices could kill the buzz.

Loved the pregame, they were up from the warm up (staggered me they played a mini game warm up) bouncing around 5 times the energy of Carlton.

Best bit without doubt though was standing next to the interchange in the last qtr, watching the players swapping in sets of 3, looking like hockey players going out to smash someone, they looked fierce amd lethal. Loved that our full strength side looks so dangerous.

The Melbourne Football Club has never scored 200 points in a game in its history.  Our highest score is just 182, achieved twice.  We were 23 shy of equaling that yesterday.    I am pretty sure every club from the VFL has scored 200+ in a game,  including Sydney and the Brisbane Bears.  Fitzroy have done it too I think.

This current crop of talent we have coming through might get us our first ever 200 point game.  The firepower is there.

It will be a magical day when we can tick that one off.

When was the last time a Melbourne debutant won their first 4 games with the dees???

Wee Spargo could be the first to do it provided he doesnt get himself dropped. He is a lucky charm for us !! You could put him on a key ring as a  good luck charm.

Marketing opportunity !

Fitzroy definitely did it...against us. They kicked a then record score of 36.22. 236 to our paltry 6.12.48 out at Waverley in 1979.

I went to that game.  Seeing as the mate I went with was a Fitzroy man and he was driving, we had to stay.  Until the end.

All these records wil be broken when we build a club both off & on the field which can challenge playing finals & grand finals...this will not happen overnight ... Look at the clubs like haw, Geel & swans it took them a decade to build those lists

I had a dream: we refuse to co-habitate the MCG with 'foreign', well treated teams. Our member numbers soar to unprecedented heights as a result of this new dynasty that lasts and lasts. At the five year point, we begin building our own home ground away from the 'G, merging with a floundering Richmond to build a compact yet beautiful stadium (that just fits our extensive membership on one side in luxurious comfort where every seat is a $200 view of the ground and electronic scoreboards). The stadium has no location in my dream but it does serve a plated hot meal with good cold beer to all member patrons. There are no 'corporate' luxuries, it is a people's palace with a free pie and sauce to non-members, a can of Coke or a cuppa tea/coffee. We dictate to the AFL (and they have no capacity to refuse) that all of the MFC-R games will be played there on Friday nights, only. Away games dovetail perfectly for the same privelege to be extended to the Casey team on the odd away match and they use the ground as their membership has also gone 'through the roof'. The whole place becomes football central and the Pies, the Blues, the Bombers and the Cats fold in their increasing misery. Someone telephoned ... and that was the end of the dream ....

Slightly different, but still waiting for a Melbourne player to kick 100 goals in a season.

Would be awesome to see that one ticked off one day.

We must be the only team left from the VFL era that doesn't have a 100 goal kicker in a season.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
